When I first got into Sunbreak on the Nintendo switch I was able to use my endgame set from high rank all the way to five star master rank quests then I was forced to upgrade because I kept getting flatlined
Thank you for this, I played rise when it came out on switch and stopped early as I didn't like the endgame and I planned on swapping to pc. Now playing with some friends on console/ windows store and this had all the questions i've been trying to find answers to. Looking forward to Sunbreak, I heard the endgame is much improved!
I've played it on Game Pass, was already familiar after playing base game on Switch but didn't stick around back then long enough for the expansion or some content updates so I still got to experience some new stuff. What I've done in this game is get the base game out of the way, reached HR100, leveled up a few companions, got a decent weapon and armour set and got through the brunt of the village, hub and event quests but still left some open, and now after around 70 hours of playtime I'm happy to give it a rest until Sunbreak launches. Don't want to over-grind and burn out again, but also don't want to feel like I'm behind when Sunbreak launches, so this seemed like a solid point to just let it rest for a few months.

I bought Rise + Sunbreak together this past Steam winter sale for a whopping $40 dollars (not individually, both together). I can testify that that sale comment is definitely not wrong lol, but if you want the best deal over there wait for a Capcom sale or one of the major season sales to buy it (Summer/Winter).
Sunbreak alone is easily worth 40$, especially since we’ll be getting all the title updated day one on consoles. Crazy amount of content. Seeing as rise is on GamePass, I’d even happily pay 60$ for sunbreak.

The thing about charm melding in Rise is that a lot of early sunbreak charms can actually be worse than many endgame Rise charms, I actually stick with alot of rise charms until now unless I get a better version with the same skills in sunbreak. Of course this comes down to your rng, but this is speaking from my personal experience.
So true, I got a charm of endgame rise that came with 3 level of evade window and 2 level of evade extender and also 3 level 2 slots, so I can almost max out both those skills with just the charm. I haven’t got anything in sunbreak that competes with it so far

If I had one tip to give you when it comes to preparing for Sunbreak is: get money, lots of it. If you think you had enough get more.
1:23 Totally disagree with how you presented this. You don't even unlock a new melding method until you beat Sunbreak's final boss. Some people might fast track it there, some people might enjoy their time, either way, High Rank talismans entirely hold their relevancy until you complete the story.
Before sunbreak ( comming 1-2 week after maj 5 ) just finish the game all story and request and hub . Do event quest and wait for sunbreak . If you are a madlad just try do best gear per slot farm all layered and charm . All your grind are not worth it with sunbreak comming very soon . Sunbreak make you so more overpowered on the beginning with the new wirebug move for all your weapon and first armor craft in MR . Mhw to iceborn is a good exemple .
For my fellow greatsword users just get full valstrax armor and nargacuga greatsword for your endgame set. Also make the magnamalo greatsword because it eventually becomes the best overall greatsword in sunbreak.
tried full valstrax and is literally bullcrap for gs since you need to put crit B and Focus wich means it takes all deco places you need a talisman with 3 att and place for deco lvl 2... which means good luck trynna getting it
@@adambreaker I would get use to playing without focus because it becomes irrelivant in Sunbreak due to longer charge times being better for strong arm stance. Also you can drop some attack to make it more comfy for yourself.
New to the mh series, I just hit hr38 on xbox today with 110hrs gameplay so far, I achievement hunt and help my friends out a lot or I'd be higher level, but I'm loving it and upset I haven't played mh before rise honestly.
I suggest for a monster to hunt the most is Magnamalo. In MR it's a pain to go back to HR just to get plates and other parts because you gotta start with the LR stuff for the marshmallo weapons.
Some people complain about MHRise being released without Sunbreak, but here are a few things to consider: 1. The game is priced at $40, while it was $60 on Switch and still is. 2. Sunbreak was a recent release, and the game is still being updated. 3. Ports aren't as simple as moving from one console to another. Coding what should have been an exclusive Nintendo title would take time, and Sunbreak is not a seperate title. 4. Perhaps Capcom does not want people to rush through the base game, which is something they have never been good at circumventing upon expansion. Maybe they are just being greedy regardless. In which case, just pretend MHRise isn't actually released until Sunbreak gets added.
I would strongly sugest just one rampage bow with blast and Pierce shots (if youre using bow that is) for rampage quests specifically and then a Dragon one with Pierce shots if thats youre preffer shot type. Those are the only ones truly worth It even if they become obsolete once sunbreak comes
I found a quick sheath 2 with 2 double slots with a random skill a charm like that took me until like hr 270 or something like that on switching now trying to make your valstrax set from the video in the description thanks for the tips
@@grimreefer213 I hate to be that guy, but it's pretty mediocre. It's a level 4 charm meaning it only has 4 level 2 skills. The best you can get is a level 7 but that's extremely rare. Level 6. Charms are more than good enough. An example would be attack 3 agitator 2 and 3-1 or crit eye 3 weakness exploit 2 and 3-1

I'm pretty new to MH, I played some MHW, and tried the PSP/3DS games back in the day. I played through Rise on Xbox, and now that I'm HR8, I don't even know what to do. All the quests are just 2 monsters, and it already feels stale. Hopefully I get into Sunbreak.

huhh..., in rise I decided to challenge myself and use my least used weapon the LBG. I never got the value of the silk bind that let you slide around the monster instead of vaulting over it. using it to line up for piercing-shot seems like a great way to use it.
I must if missed playing monster hunter cuz I beat this game in like 2 days lol. I think I sat there and played it one day for like 12 hours straight. I'm almost ready for sunbreak with like 3days played lol.
I started Rise on the Switch and made it up to anomaly research lol 150 in Sunbreak and I'll be honest, the base game of Rise really sucks compared to the expansion. I downloaded it on Xbox and have gotten to hr 130 and there isn't anything to do. At least ps and Xbox got a full game though, it was even worse on Switch when Rise was first released. But I guess I'll finish off the remaining event quests and eagerly wait for Sunbreak while I continue the grind on the Switch.
I'm in the same situation currently, just that I finally got the game on PC. I have to agree and must underline the most important fact: *_Take your time_* Additionally, when you claim your DLC bonuses, I would refrain from using any Defender armor or weapons, same goes for the GuildCross set you can craft -- well, you'll invariably get them if you claim all 15 pages of free downloadable content at once, but then I went for selling the Defender stuff. I've seen this mistake in World>Iceborne. It's a terrible crutch and relieves you from crafting any monster weapons & armors throughout the entire playthrough. It goes directly against the spirit of monster hunter games. You'll never learn how to adapt or what to look for in gear. Here's a short anecdote: I dove into the first large monster hunt without much preparation and it took a whopping 40 minutes. Who knows, if I had worn the Defender set, it might have been only 20. Less time for heals, bigger damage on the hits. I would think that 20 minute hunts were the norm. But in reality I'd be hopelessly overpowered AND taking an awful lot of time to slay things. Came back after a long break, got more used to the Wirebug system and I immediately went down to 5 minute averages per hunt - with the "crappy" default gear you can craft at the start of the game. That feeling right there... it's absolutely glorious. Don't sabotage yourself. No f%cking clue what Capcom is thinking with these Rusher/DLC gear sets. They should strictly be advertised as a double dipper's set and not something a new player should ever touch. Then, coming back to the beginning - take your time and stay a bit in base Rise. Make sure you've slain everything, seen everything. Do your optionals, do every event quest there is... people act like the base game's content is not worthwhile. I'm not even sure how you would describe that mentality of becoming completely blind to everything Rise has to offer because you want to be in Sunbreak as fast as possible. Wake up, Rise is said to have some 70-150h worth of content. If you ask me, that's insane bang for buck. Personally, I'm going to go slow as a tortoise. I'm going to stretch my money's worth to the absolute limit before I buy the DLC.
Sadly already have reached 200+ hr level on consoles but I did notice a fun sticky build that was shown here can't really find any with out having sunbreak sadly.
wish they’d put the time in to give this game a true console makeover. keep the world ball rolling, the game is great but it kills me how much better world looks lmao. can’t wait for the next big game though.
Coming from never playing world and other mh this one looks amazing definatly a few things could use a little love. World was solely focused on looks and I'd rather have content and it look basically the same. This is one of the best looking monster hunters I played
@@ryanolionheart1325 if you played world now you’d see the difference lol world still looks better better textures and resolution better details in armor in hair (3D beards 😂)etc and there’s like 4 times the content, BUT rise has more in the way of combat the bind skills definitely freshen things up and the wall running, bug grapple and palamute riding definitely make the game feel so much more accessible and freeing.
@@CorpseHall I've seen it its big and empty with lots of running , but it looks amazing and the behaviors are neat and eh sunbreak had more monster more quests and more everything , some of worlds graphic took away from the mobster hunter feel but rise has stupid birds lol they are nice for showing a path but half your stats shouldn't be walled behind collecting some of them every time. Rise is far far perfect but given all it had to do it did great for a portable game and they Amp the graphics for consol and its pretty good aside from a few things. The wire bugs are amazing and allow endless travel making a map fully traversable in multiple levels and paths and all those have gating spots and stuff there. Honestly I hope we never get one like worlds there is no need for a seemless map when you could have larger bioms. I'm pretty excited to see the last one in this series tho as it will mesh the two and hopefully be made for a main platform as better graphics are always nice I just prefer gameplay and wepons and such over graphics personally

I just wonder if they release it for TU5, will that be the final TU? Or is it just a good point to synch up all the versions kinda like what they did for World/Iceborne before the real game ending update comes later like Fatalis did? I just think it’d be weird if Sunbreak finally released for console and the “Fatalis” of Sunbreak is already present, worried if it might cause players to rush more than they already might?
I think console release, if released at the same time as TU5, will be the full sunbreak release all the way through TU5. That being said, if they don't drop TU5 until after Sunbreak for consoles then yeah, they'll only have through TU4 for sure. the updates already exist and i doubt they want to do 5 full content releases for console after releasing sunbreak... Guess we'll see!
Yeah that was really a misfire releasing it without sunbreak witch adds much needed challenge to the game. Nowhere near as much as world iceborne but sunbreak adds a ton to a game that felt unfinished at launch.
How do you do so much dmg with your stickys? I only do like 90 with Bombardier.....and I use the fully upgraded rampage Hbg. And how do you get such low recoil? My weapon still kicks a little bit even with 3 points in recoil reduction

I got Mghu for sale i have played for 7 hours but it's quite complicated , not saying it won't be enjoyable but i feel like i can't really play when i have just a bit of free time and i'm scared it will be long before i start enjoying it Would buying rise be a bad move as it seems more hack and slash and easy to play what do you guys think? MHGU is definitely a tougher one to start with. Super fun game with tons and tons of content and stuff to do, but the older games don't really give you as definitive of a path as MHW and MHR do. For people new to the series I really think Rise or World are great options to get started and used to the series, but the older games have less quality of life so that's something you'll have to be ready for going back to those titles
So basically you said get decorations. The game hasn't event talked to me about those yet and I'm in 6star ranks. What are these and where/how do I craft?
There's gotta be a side quest you haven't completed or something. I haven't unlocked 5star and my blacksmith is able to craft decorations (the starting decorations available are pretty lame imo)

Man i hunted as fast as possible through the base quests without farming something to get on sunbreak just to see it's not there... I came from world and had an easy rush from 1 to 8. Hope sunbreak will drop soon to get endgame. The base endgame is disappointing as hell.
@Bro Zhang no, not sure what Japanese style even means here, it was just one of their worst systems tbh. There was no variety required to farm charms (just spam Narwa and that's it), and once you got a charm with decent slots and usable skills you were practically set. There were no special quests that gave you more charms or better roll chances, just spam narwa then spam the roly-poly lanterns till all your charm rolls finished. It was really lame and didn't offer much by way of endgame replayability. Sunbreak's endgame is 110% better with afflicted monsters, and with augments requiring materials from all types of monsters, from A1 through A5. You also have to grind through anomaly levels to achieved the rarer versions of the afflicted parts, giving you reason to fight tons of different monsters across levels 1-200. Objectively a better system in sunbreak, even if you did like the base Rise system (for some reason).
The meta is a cancer. All weapons and armor are viable depending on you alone. If you spend your time chasing the meta then you will have a boring grind of a time.

honestly yeah, how far you use HR armor into MR is personal preference/skill.
Valstrax armour alone will carry you to MR4 at least before changing to something else. It's that good.

Exactly, and using the sunbreak melds before the better methods is a waste of mats, so having a good talisman is definitely worth it now

I would strongly sugest just one rampage bow with blast and Pierce shots (if youre using bow that is) for rampage quests specifically and then a Dragon one with Pierce shots if thats youre preffer shot type. Those are the only ones truly worth It even if they become obsolete once sunbreak comes

I found a quick sheath 2 with 2 double slots with a random skill a charm like that took me until like hr 270 or something like that on switching now trying to make your valstrax set from the video in the description thanks for the tips

@@grimreefer213 I hate to be that guy, but it's pretty mediocre. It's a level 4 charm meaning it only has 4 level 2 skills. The best you can get is a level 7 but that's extremely rare. Level 6. Charms are more than good enough. An example would be attack 3 agitator 2 and 3-1 or crit eye 3 weakness exploit 2 and 3-1

I'm pretty new to MH, I played some MHW, and tried the PSP/3DS games back in the day. I played through Rise on Xbox, and now that I'm HR8, I don't even know what to do. All the quests are just 2 monsters, and it already feels stale. Hopefully I get into Sunbreak.

huhh..., in rise I decided to challenge myself and use my least used weapon the LBG. I never got the value of the silk bind that let you slide around the monster instead of vaulting over it. using it to line up for piercing-shot seems like a great way to use it.

I started Rise on the Switch and made it up to anomaly research lol 150 in Sunbreak and I'll be honest, the base game of Rise really sucks compared to the expansion. I downloaded it on Xbox and have gotten to hr 130 and there isn't anything to do. At least ps and Xbox got a full game though, it was even worse on Switch when Rise was first released. But I guess I'll finish off the remaining event quests and eagerly wait for Sunbreak while I continue the grind on the Switch.
I mean yes Rise is cool But with Sunbreak so far away i'll probably run out of things to do way before then. Thankfully Wild Hearts comes out the 17th

I'm in the same situation currently, just that I finally got the game on PC. I have to agree and must underline the most important fact: *_Take your time_*
Additionally, when you claim your DLC bonuses, I would refrain from using any Defender armor or weapons, same goes for the GuildCross set you can craft -- well, you'll invariably get them if you claim all 15 pages of free downloadable content at once, but then I went for selling the Defender stuff. I've seen this mistake in World>Iceborne. It's a terrible crutch and relieves you from crafting any monster weapons & armors throughout the entire playthrough. It goes directly against the spirit of monster hunter games. You'll never learn how to adapt or what to look for in gear. Here's a short anecdote: I dove into the first large monster hunt without much preparation and it took a whopping 40 minutes. Who knows, if I had worn the Defender set, it might have been only 20. Less time for heals, bigger damage on the hits. I would think that 20 minute hunts were the norm. But in reality I'd be hopelessly overpowered AND taking an awful lot of time to slay things. Came back after a long break, got more used to the Wirebug system and I immediately went down to 5 minute averages per hunt - with the "crappy" default gear you can craft at the start of the game. That feeling right there... it's absolutely glorious. Don't sabotage yourself. No f%cking clue what Capcom is thinking with these Rusher/DLC gear sets. They should strictly be advertised as a double dipper's set and not something a new player should ever touch.
Then, coming back to the beginning - take your time and stay a bit in base Rise. Make sure you've slain everything, seen everything. Do your optionals, do every event quest there is... people act like the base game's content is not worthwhile. I'm not even sure how you would describe that mentality of becoming completely blind to everything Rise has to offer because you want to be in Sunbreak as fast as possible. Wake up, Rise is said to have some 70-150h worth of content. If you ask me, that's insane bang for buck. Personally, I'm going to go slow as a tortoise. I'm going to stretch my money's worth to the absolute limit before I buy the DLC.

Coming from never playing world and other mh this one looks amazing definatly a few things could use a little love. World was solely focused on looks and I'd rather have content and it look basically the same. This is one of the best looking monster hunters I played
@@ryanolionheart1325 if you played world now you’d see the difference lol world still looks better better textures and resolution better details in armor in hair (3D beards 😂)etc and there’s like 4 times the content, BUT rise has more in the way of combat the bind skills definitely freshen things up and the wall running, bug grapple and palamute riding definitely make the game feel
so much more accessible and freeing.
@@CorpseHall I've seen it its big and empty with lots of running , but it looks amazing and the behaviors are neat and eh sunbreak had more monster more quests and more everything , some of worlds graphic took away from the mobster hunter feel but rise has stupid birds lol they are nice for showing a path but half your stats shouldn't be walled behind collecting some of them every time. Rise is far far perfect but given all it had to do it did great for a portable game and they Amp the graphics for consol and its pretty good aside from a few things. The wire bugs are amazing and allow endless travel making a map fully traversable in multiple levels and paths and all those have gating spots and stuff there. Honestly I hope we never get one like worlds there is no need for a seemless map when you could have larger bioms.
I'm pretty excited to see the last one in this series tho as it will mesh the two and hopefully be made for a main platform as better graphics are always nice I just prefer gameplay and wepons and such over graphics personally

I just wonder if they release it for TU5, will that be the final TU? Or is it just a good point to synch up all the versions kinda like what they did for World/Iceborne before the real game ending update comes later like Fatalis did? I just think it’d be weird if Sunbreak finally released for console and the “Fatalis” of Sunbreak is already present, worried if it might cause players to rush more than they already might?
I think the general consensus is TU5 will be the last one, since the roadmap no longer goes past that. But only capcom knows!
I think console release, if released at the same time as TU5, will be the full sunbreak release all the way through TU5. That being said, if they don't drop TU5 until after Sunbreak for consoles then yeah, they'll only have through TU4 for sure. the updates already exist and i doubt they want to do 5 full content releases for console after releasing sunbreak...

Yeah that was really a misfire releasing it without sunbreak witch adds much needed challenge to the game. Nowhere near as much as world iceborne but sunbreak adds a ton to a game that felt unfinished at launch.

How do you do so much dmg with your stickys? I only do like 90 with Bombardier.....and I use the fully upgraded rampage Hbg. And how do you get such low recoil? My weapon still kicks a little bit even with 3 points in recoil reduction

I got Mghu for sale i have played for 7 hours but it's quite complicated , not saying it won't be enjoyable but i feel like i can't really play when i have just a bit of free time and i'm scared it will be long before i start enjoying it

MHGU is definitely a tougher one to start with. Super fun game with tons and tons of content and stuff to do, but the older games don't really give you as definitive of a path as MHW and MHR do.
For people new to the series I really think Rise or World are great options to get started and used to the series, but the older games have less quality of life so that's something you'll have to be ready for going back to those titles

There's gotta be a side quest you haven't completed or something. I haven't unlocked 5star and my blacksmith is able to craft decorations (the starting decorations available are pretty lame imo)

Man i hunted as fast as possible through the base quests without farming something to get on sunbreak just to see it's not there... I came from world and had an easy rush from 1 to 8. Hope sunbreak will drop soon to get endgame. The base endgame is disappointing as hell.

Yeah the charm grind in base Rise is subpar, luckily I think they really did a good job of making the endgame far more interesting in Sunbreak :D
@Bro Zhang no, not sure what Japanese style even means here, it was just one of their worst systems tbh. There was no variety required to farm charms (just spam Narwa and that's it), and once you got a charm with decent slots and usable skills you were practically set. There were no special quests that gave you more charms or better roll chances, just spam narwa then spam the roly-poly lanterns till all your charm rolls finished. It was really lame and didn't offer much by way of endgame replayability.
Sunbreak's endgame is 110% better with afflicted monsters, and with augments requiring materials from all types of monsters, from A1 through A5. You also have to grind through anomaly levels to achieved the rarer versions of the afflicted parts, giving you reason to fight tons of different monsters across levels 1-200. Objectively a better system in sunbreak, even if you did like the base Rise system (for some reason).

The meta is a cancer. All weapons and armor are viable depending on you alone. If you spend your time chasing the meta then you will have a boring grind of a time.
