    Im a 14 year old junior (same as explorer) and i think you guys did a great job doing engine ops next class

  • @VancouverEmergencyPhotography
    @VancouverEmergencyPhotography 9 лет назад +1

    We use custom engines, hydrant man has a spanner under his seat ready to use. Hydrant man jumps out of truck and grabs hose, then runs to hydrant. Hydrant man wraps hose around hydrant and signals to driver, driver drives rig to fire the stops, driver jumps out if truck and runs to the rear of the rig, uncouples the hose from the hose bed and attaches to the rear, at the same time the hydrant man is connecting the hose to the hydrant, and the other crew members are pulling required hoses from the side while the captain establishes command.

    These hose lays are not for actual firefighting, they are to instill the basics and to see if people can follow orders. These guys are also explorers so its not how it would be in the recruit tower.

    These are EXPLORERS not fire fighters, they are practicing what they have learned, chill out they aren't actual fire fighters yet. That's what they are TRAINING for calm down people.

      Rather dont run over top of a ldh or any hose. running is fine.

  • @mrRickywayne54
    @mrRickywayne54 10 лет назад +1

    The reason u use a LDH hose clamp is u can go ahead and turn on the hydrant when ur ready and you do not have to wait on the pump operator to hook it up , he has a certain amount of water on the truck he can use be4 he has to worry about hooking up, when he does all he has to do is undo the clamp and its there. That frees up the hydrant man quicker.

    • @jasonwilliams3223
      @jasonwilliams3223 5 лет назад

      A good engineer can have his supply line hooked and ready for water before most can get a hose clamp deployed

  • @calebe2927

    why is the pump operator looking away from the nozzle man, and why is the captain doing the nozzle man's job? Im a junior and I see so many things wrong with this!!

  • @ffjsb
    @ffjsb 12 лет назад

    Well that's how the old guy that taught the old guy that taught me did it". Some people just do stuff because that's the way they were taught and they never question why. Technology changes but sometimes people fail to change with the technology. So thus the clamp. Just like wearing helmets in the truck, it's something you just don't do anymore.

    Catching a hydrant and standing in front of the steamer caps is not smart... if by any chance the barrel is charged and you pop the cap... that cap is gonna slap in the leg... always stand behind the hydrant away from the caps.... my other issue are these guys are working with no gloves..

  • @zachthompson3806

    well I say they could have bin better and there trucks are different. the trucks we have the pump panel and all that is on the sides but the main pump operator is in the middle of the truck you have two stand up there instead of standing on the side.
