  • In this video, I give tips for anyone who wants to create a calming, all-neutral space and give some tips to keep it from being flat and boring. Incorporating texture, art, accessories, and highlighting your focal points are all essential for this look and will give impact to rooms with a neutral color palette. I hope you learn something from this video, and if you have any questions or need specific advice, drop it in the comments and I'll do my best to help you out!

You’ve described what I already knew in such a fresh way, it became even more clear. ie: Every color can be a neutral. Thanks.

I liked what you explained about every color being a neutral. I also finally understand what saturated and desaturated means!

Sue! Thanks for your sweet comment! I think one of my recent videos, “Design Measurements Masterclass” would be helpful if you’re buying any new furniture for your new apartment. I go over a lot of guidelines for furniture sizes and layout. Makes me so happy knowing people are enjoying the videos. Good luck designing!

It was super helpful thank you Becca! I’m moving to my new appartement at the end of the month and going for that neutral, modern but also cosy style. What are your thoughts on artificial plants ? I’m thinking of adding one next to my TV stand

Yay, I'm glad you found it helpful! Personally, I don't love artificial plants as it's hard to find ones that look realistic. But they do have their pros since they don't require any light or maintenance. There are so many low-maintenance plants that are really beautiful and easy to take care of if you're willing to go with a live one. ZZ plants are great, pothos, and snake plants I've found to be almost indestructible. I have a video on my top ten favorites! But if you have to go with an artificial one, make sure you buy in person so you can get a better idea of how realistic it looks. Buying online can land you with one that looks very fake in person.

Thank you Becca for another great video. I had to google mullions b/c I didn 't know what you meant and I also have a sliding door from my kitchen to the patio. I think it is a great idea. I have vertical blinds :( but I have to leave them b/c of privacy. The doors lead to a small patio that has a screen and some neighbors walk their dogs and I feel I have to have the blinds but I don't want them there. French blinds are not going to cut it either b/c I love light and that is one of my main light sources. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I get it! It's hard to maximize natural light when there's a privacy concern. I would look into removable glass treatments on Amazon. There are really pretty fluted designs, frosted options, and even faux stained glass options. They obstruct the view to the inside but also allow for light to pour through. So personally, that is what I would do instead of the vertical blinds, especially since you said you don't like them. Hope this helps!
