Thank you again for inviting me! Always happy to be on the stage with everyone 🥺
Thanks so much for joining, Steph! And sharing all about your favorite & love for Western RPGs 🥰
Thanks for having me on! Feels great to be included with such wonderful company!
Thanks so much for contributing to this! I enjoyed your segment & it made me want to prioritize more Tales games in the near future :)
I love that there's an older gamer in there....Food4dogs. For some reason her accent brings this classiness. Thx for the compilation Dr. Emily.
Have you ever met a cooler doctor?! 😄
I really love Britta's New Zealand accent too! Thanks for watching 😊
Yay! Such a fun video! Thank you again for having me on this!! Everyone's picks were awesome, and there are still quite a few of these that I need to play - Lookin' at you, Kingdom Hearts😂
Thanks so much for joining us, Alex! And ahhh hope you can get to Kingdom Hearts someday! I was 12 when I played it on the PS2 & it was just the coolest game for me at the time. I want to say there are aspects that still hold up, but maybe this is nostalgia talking 😂
This video came out awesome! Thanks for having me on 😊
Thanks so much for taking part, Mandy! It was great having you on (and talking about one of my favorites 😆)
What a great video, Emily! Everyone did a marvelous job and I adore all these picks! Thanks Emily for having me on, and thanks to everyone for your awesome contributions! 💕
Thanks so much Jay for coming on! I'm looking forward to those remasters coming out so I can finally try the franchise you featured 😆
You had my favorite pick. Suikoden was astonishingly cool to me when I started seeing release information about it. Turn based battles, war fights, duels, base building, 108 characters to search out and bring to your cause.....so much to like and those first two entries are absolute game changers for me. Suikoden had a helluva impact on me and I will always be thankful those games were created.
@@MiamiSunrise They were a huge part of my formative years in gaming! I remember selling or discarding the Rose Brooch and not being able to recruit Millich. I raged. Corrected that the next playthrough! Totally a game changer for RPGs! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Thank you for having me be a part of this! It was a lot of fun to put together, and so exciting to be featured alongside these other wonderful content creators! :)
Really enjoy that you’re doing more of these collab videos! Always interesting to hear a lot of different perspectives and love the prompt for everyone it led to a great mix of games!
It's really fun to get a big group like this on! And it's so cool we get to share a big list of games with everyone too sharing our own unique perspectives :)
Thanks so much for having me on! And of course I'm the old man yelling at the NES sky as I pick the oldest game out there - LOL
Thanks for joining again, David! And haha, RPGs wouldn't be anywhere today without the early Dragon Warrior games so I'm glad you highlight the third entry 😄
If you went any older David you'd be picking the game that DEFINED the genre instead of redefining it :P
But seriously, those early DQ games all added something that built the genre into what we know it as today. With them most of this video wouldn't exist!
Came from Food4dogs’ channel. Fun collaboration!
Thanks for checking it out! This was a lot of fun to put together :)
So many delightful faces here: Miss Britta, Bubbles, David, and now I'm excited to check out some of the others too! And what a wide depth of games featured - it makes you realize just how much this genre has changed over time. Thank you for bringing all of these lovely people and their opinions together!
These are great picks! I would add Persona 3 to the list - the introduction of the Social Links system really helped to connect you more with the characters. I can’t wait to play it again with the remake coming out!
Great pick! The social link aspect was really a fun addition to the genre and it's been cool seeing how many other franchises have incorporated them over the years :)
It's nice to see such a wide variety of youtubers on the same video. Having rng gamer and food for dogs back to back was a real treat. They are both so passionate about games but show it with such a different energy. I love them both ❤❤❤
Of course everyone else did an amazing job as well and I'll be subbing to them
It was wonderful to have everyone share their perspectives in this collab! And I'm glad I was able to wrangle a few familiar faces along with some new ones for you!
Another great video! You’re killing it, Emily! Thanks for the consistent, high-quality videos! Loved all the picks and creators featured in this video.
Thank you! I'm really happy with how this collab came together as well 😊
I love this series! It features many people I watch regularly, and introduces me to many that I didn't know about!
I'm glad to hear you enjoy these! They've been a lot of fun to put together :)
Great video! These collab videos are fun! I think Radiant Historia or the more recent Chained Echoes would be on my list.
Thank you! And great picks :)
Awesome having all your guests! Really happy you invited RNG been enjoying his videos and yours for quite a while now! Keep up the good work
Awesome collab! Happy to see so many great creators with so many great picks. I was especially floored when I saw Super Paper Mario appear. I see the Mario RPGs mentioned less in these circles, but a lot of them were gate-ways into JRPGs for people who grew up with a Nintendo console, and they are all very unique in their own right.
Thanks for having me in the video! It was a lot of fun
Thanks so much for joining in on this one! I'm looking forward to share what we have cooked up next 😄
I agree with Octopath Traveler. HD-2D is really impressive. And later this year we got Star Ocean 2 Remake (also in HD-2D, I think) of which I'm looking forward to..👌
Honorable mention: Final Fantasy 8 for its Eyes on Me theme song.. Haven't played the game, but I've listened the song for like thousand times..😅
Thank you, Emily, for collab like this. It's like watching 11 videos in one go...😁👍
Thank you for the wonderful video. I love seeing my favorite content creators all together.
Great video as always! As somebody who has loved and played mainly RPGs for more years than I care to admit, I find it hard to disagree with any of the choices your esteemed collaborators have opined on. But for myself, I'd choose Dragon Warrior / Quest IV. It's take on individual chapters with unique adventurers who then all come together to defeat the big bad waa groundbreaking and a heck of a lot of fun too!
Thank you so much! And Dragon Warrior/Quest IV is a classic, so very good choice! I'm hoping there'll be an opportunity to play more of the earlier DQ games in the upcoming years (and not have to pay an arm and a leg for the DS ports 🙈)
Such a joy to see some of my favorite content creators collaborating with each other now and then. Really glad to see all of you creating a community and just chatting about any topic, sharing yours experiences about the genre we all love. Great work, all of you 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for watching! I find these types of collabs a lot of fun too :)
some of my top favorite channels, with a few i only just recently discovered! great collab
Thanks for watching! Was really happy to have all these folks on :)
FFVII was the game that really made me an RPG fan. I had a harder time getting into them in the nes days even though Zelda always clicked. After FFVII though it all made sense to me and became the category of choice. The upgrade of graphics and music, I consider VII the cornerstone that everything sprung from.
I've been out of gaming since 2003 though and just about to start skyward sword to set up BOTW's. It's excitingly overwhelming how many games I want to play 🤠
what an awesome video Emily! So awesome you could get that crew to contribute!
Great video! So amazing games showcased here.
Thanks for watching! It was cool how many different types of games ended up being represented here.
@@orbalology agreed!
I love these collaboration videos. I always learn some new youtubers from them. :)
I think my picks for RPGs that redefined the genre would be the ones that really set the bar/expectations for JRPGs in general. So games like Dragon Quest 1/2, Final Fantasy 4/7/10, Fire Emblem, etc. Not necessarily my favorites but the most influential ones. Like looking back at FF4 now, it may not seem that unique, but that's because it set the story blueprint that so many other JRPGs then followed.
Phantasy Star, not FFIV, set the story blueprint.
There's going to be remasters of the Suikoden? I had no idea! I'm definitely looking forward to that!
Great video from all who contributed!
This was a lovely video im digging all the collaborations 😊😊😊
such a great video Emily! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
Thanks for watching! It was a lot of fun to put together :)
Nice co-op video with many great pickups! Maybe I choose Daggerfall (I have not played Arena).. but if you think about Skyrim, Oblivion or others from Elder Scrolls games, then you are able to see effects of this game to the future. Odd scripted language, races, huge maps and many quests, guilds and history.
Nice pick, thanks for watching!
This was a really cool video! Awesome to see a variety of opinions!
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
@@orbalology yeah it was a really unique type of video! Very much enjoying all of your content! Keep up the good work!
Great video! Always love seeing Xenoblade X getting the love it deserves 🙏
Thanks for watching! I really hope to play Xenoblade X someday 🙏
@@orbalology I hope you do as well! Would love to eventually see your thoughts on how it compares to the other three games. Here’s hoping for a port on the next Switch system. 🙏
Another excellent collaboration video! I love how you’re continuing to include so many different content creators across RUclips in these collaborations, Emily. It really helps me to discover more channels. I also was typing out my pick and then you spoke about it yourself 😅 Kingdom Hearts 1 is not only my favorite game of all time, but it was so influential in getting me into other RPGs. Great selections by everyone else as well!
Ah, great minds Rusty!! The PS2 is really such a special era for the RPG genre :)
This was a lovely little video cool seeing everyone's opinions!
Awesome job on this one! 🌸
Thanks so much, Raya!
RPGs have definitely grown through out the the years and they’re are so many series to pick from. If I had to pick a RPG that redefined the genre I would have to agree with mandyleeplays Fire Emblem Awakening was such a fantastic game on the 3DS it had so many new additions that made me start playing the fire emblem series in the first place. I enjoyed other content creators opinions too! These collaborations are always awesome!
FE Awakening is really such a special title. It was also my first SRPG game ever so it really holds a special place in my heart. And glad to hear you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching :)
What an eclectic mix of games and gamers. Awesome video.
My pick would have to be Final Fantasy VII. I was a Sega guy growing up but I had just bought a PlayStation after getting promoted to Airman First Class. I waited with a couple buddies on release day and the rest is history. FF16 is the first FF that I haven’t picked up Day 1 since then.
Great topic - absolutely loved it! As always, a fantastic group of people and I loved all the games that were shared!!! I really really need to give Kingdom Hearts another shot. Maybe I'll make that a priority next year.
I'll admit, I look at KH with a lot of fondness because of how much I loved it when I was twelve 😂 The first two games were a lot of fun - and if you're a big Disney fan I would say it's probably a must play. I've been thinking of maybe trying the HD remasters at some point to see how they hold up. Maybe I'll get to them someday! 😂
I really enjoy these collaboration videos. I was surprised not to see the Persona series with Persona 3 or the Legend of Heroes series with Trails in the Sky.
Those are certainly great franchises! I think they get highlighted so often that many creators (like myself) wanted to feature some games that we don't get a chance to talk about too often :)
Loved the video, JRPGs is my favourite genre, loved everybodys games but loved more foos for dogs, she is awesome
She really is awesome! Was super happy to have her take part in this topic :)
This was an excellent video. Well done, everyone. Demon’s Souls and Xenoblade Chronicles X were welcome surprise picks.
I really enjoyed the Shadow Hearts series, with the first Shadow Hearts being a horror-themed RPG with a dark and macabre setting I liked the battle system which is timing based using the Judgement Ring(like a circle) and if timed right you can do more powerful attacks. Shadow Hearts: Covenant is my fav in the series it improved from the first. And I enjoyed the characters more. The third one I liked it but not as much as the 2nd one. I think when the first one came out it might have gotten passed on or not too many people played it..cause another RPG came out about a week after, which was Final Fantasy X.
great video :) for me, I would put either Lunar Silver Star Story or FFX
Thanks! Oh and good picks! These are two games I've been meaning to play/finish someday.
Great video ❤ I loved Xenoblade X review ❤❤❤
Your shirt is really cool!!
Thanks! I've been really digging the HelloWinter designs Yetee and TeePublic have been offering :)
@@orbalology I really enjoyed this video. Kingdom Hearts is one game that marked my adolescence, SMT III HD helped me overcome COVID with long nebulizer sessions, Xenoblade X is the game that got away and I hope we can get a remaster someday, and thank goodness for Fire Emblem Awakening otherwise the Tactical RPG space would be severely lacking.
One game that I think defined the genre though is FF VII, as cliché of a choice as that may be, because it is the game that was the catalyst for RPG mainstream success in the west. Even people who had never heard of or played RPGs before dipped their toes into the genre to experience the grand story of FF VII.
I know you appreciate game recommendations , I really recommend Raincode on the Switch. It's been my game for the last week. Totally think it's a sleeper hit nobody is talking about , thought I'd spread the word. Since you got me into a couple of games I've never heard of and really enjoyed them.
Any big Bioware hits like Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age.
They're the champions of weaving stories and lore and give depth to your companions and your relationships with them.
Baldur's Gate
The Ultima series and the Wizardry series built the foundation of the genre.
The Ultima series had impacts far more than just RPGs, but open world games in general. Its spinoff Ultima Underworld, heavily influenced first person games, including shooters.
awesome collab and great picks by all of you! we need xenoblade x on switch one day. i can't stand it when great games get stuck on older consoles.
I would really love to see a port of XCX someday too. The game really doesn't deserve to be stuck on old hardware that not many have access to.
Great video and excellent picks! Mass Effect was the game that really got me into RPGs. Featured an interesting story with plenty of tough decisions to make that carry over into future games. The third person shooter combat was fast paced but still had lots of gear and stats to optimize your build. Also featured plenty of great characters and a universe I think stands on its own even against the likes of Star Trek or Star Wars.
Thanks so much for watching! I really need to dive into the Mass Effect collection I have someday, the games really look epic!
I think two of the most influential RPGs are Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (basically every open world RPG is based on this, including Witcher III) and Knights of the Old Republic (story based RPGs owe a lot to it). The other one I would mention is Lost Odyssey as I think it is the model of so many JRPGs that followed it (but that might just be my prejudice as it is my favorite JRPG of all time).
Two awesome picks! I really wish Lost Odyssey wasn't just on xbox, but maybe someday it'll get ported to pc (or I may need to give in and buy another system lol)
@orbalology The 360 is my favorite console I think. Although switch is right there with it nowadays. I can't recommend the 360 enough so many good games. Just make sure you get a lightly used slim model for reliability. It also plays a huge chunk of the og xbox library as well, morrowind included.
@@thatoneguyoverthere4236 You don't need to go so far as getting a Xbox360. The series X (and the one) has basically a tone of stuff on backward compatibility which includes Morrowind and Lost Odyssey.
@@DavidRBrown7 I have a huge 360 collection, the series x and one x that I have only play certain titles and they have to be downloaded from xbox live. The 360 doesn't require an internet connection to function and plays I forget exactly how many og xbox games 5 to 6 hundred vs the series only playing like 20 games or something. I play my 360 occasionally due to the series consoles not being compatible with huge amounts of games. It will likely remain hooked up with my switch, ps5, and series x for the foreseeable future. I can appreciate the effort phil has put towards getting older games to run on newer hardware. But yeah the fact that the 360 doesn't require you to download the game from xbox live makes it a superior choice in that regard. Unless she or anyone wants even more compatibility they should buy both I guess. Also one more thing, the series x and s have fatal hardware flaws people should be aware of. Basically if you set it to auto update/always on setting it will brick itself in about a years time apparently according to some videos I've seen. The ssd wears itself out I guess and Microsoft has something hidden on the drive that makes it un-repairable.
@@thatoneguyoverthere4236 Having a solid collection of physical games is great. I have a similar number. However, I have had no issue with my Series X while in the same time frame I had two Xbox360s die from the red circle of death. BTW the number of backward compatible games from the 360 era is greater than 600 ie about a third of the catalogue.
I have another favorite RPG I forgot about. I took Dragon Warrior for NES and made it Dragon Quest DX with double the experience and gold with some Gameboy Color Graphics added. I had my friend turn it into a Famicom cartridge and I play it either on my Famicom Toploader with the Rad2X cable or on the Feihao HDMI Famicom handheld from Ali-Express. I like the English patch for the SNES version too and have a reproduction of that I play on the Retroad 5 Plus 7" HDMI Handheld. Great games and great systems.
Some great games on this list! I’ll be sure to try and check out the ones I haven’t played. I feel like at least some of Kingdom Hearts’ convoluted story is due to them labeling the side games as side games, but treating them like main games, causing a lot of confusion for the people who only play 1, 2, and 3.
A game I feel shaped the rpg genre is probably Earthbound. Though it’s release in the west wasn’t initially well received, there are many games that draw inspiration from it. There are probably plenty of examples, but one of the more well known in recent years is Undertale, which ended up being a major success.
LOVE FOOD4DOGS
She's so lovely! I'm really delighted she took part :)
@@orbalologyit was a pleasure, Emily, thank you.
Hi Emily. I just want to tell you & thank you for your RPG recommendations. I bought Persona 5 Ultimate Edition digital copy for the PS4. It was on sale for $47.99 ($36.27 U.S) I really love the comic book art style in this game. Story is very interesting. I love all the characters so far. This reminds me of those Sega CD games that are F.M.V without the quick time events. Also I love the fact they give you a little mini map showing you where to go & what to do. Again I just want to thank you for recommending this to me.
I'm so glad that you're enjoying Persona 5 so far! Its really such a cool, stylish turned based game!
great list! i think if i had to pick an rpg that redefined the genre it would have to be pokemon red/blue/green. very safe storywise but theres no denying the series marketing strengths, the related anime and just the crazy mechanics that go behind the game as well. Theres just still not a game like it to this day
Agreed! The original Pokemon games really impacted the RPG landscape since they came onto the scene.
Food4Dogs with a banger of a choice! XCX is probably my favorite game of all time.
Wow! A nice collaboration from other gamers..i knew my favorite rpg games will be on the list. But i will choose NINO KUNI FRANCHISE. This game should be on the list . I really love this game , this game has a great story, great world ,great music, great rpg combat, great character, great in everything i cant wait for rhe new Nino Kuni game ❤
I've had the Ni no Kuni games in my backlog for the longest times. Someday I'll have to get to them 😂
@@orbalology amazing! I'm sure you will like nino kuni .😊
Ultima 6. It does things that are still not possible today, both gameplay-wise and thematically. It is truly only surpassed by Ultima 7, but even it was more refinement than re-definement.
I never heard of this franchise but it looks pretty interesting!
I have to give a shout out to Blizzard for not just one but two RPG redefining titles.
Diablo simplified the dungeon crawl and has since inspired many clones. Many gamers can count it as an intro to RPG’s and the newest game in the series is no exception.
World of Warcraft similarly simplified the MMORPG and converted legions to fight for the Alliance or Horde. Its legacy continues with its many expansions and the launch of Classic has brought fans old and new to the genre.
I've sunk hundreds of hours in The Witcher 3. Help. What a fun collab. Good RPGs are like warm chocolate on a cold day ☕☕☕
The Witcher 3 is soooo good. I've sunk many hours into it, and plan to do even more once I pick it up for the PS5 🤭
Seeing Xenoblade X/3, Octopath Traveller here made me happy & the way they talk about them was really interesting.
Super Paper Mario segment was great too, the way he explained the gameplay was awesome & made me want to play it, which I have never really wanted to because I always thought the Tousand Years Door was the "last great" Paper Mario game 😅
Skies of Arcadia was also influential in its open world exploration, the battle ships encounters/battles & the base building aspect later.
Shadow Hearts judgement ring battle mechanic deserves more recognition but so is its atmosphere & real history influence, such a great game!
Skies of Arcadia & Shadow Hearts are great picks! Would love for those games to be brought back in some capacity someday.
I think my favorite RPG is Legend of the River King 2 for Gameboy Color with Rumble on the Epilogue GB Operator using a Geek Tech Batteryless Save Flash Cartridge. I took the ROM I Dumped and ran it through the Gameboy ROM Analyzer for Windows and changed the cartridge type to 1EH and fixed the header. It was way easier than it sounds. Then I Flashed the new fixed ROM to my Geek Tech Batteryless Save Flash Cartridge and I can play with Rumble on PC. The cartridge won't have a motor but the code will so you just open settings in the Epilogue GB Operator and set Rumble to on. I also got this running portably on the Pow Kiddy V90 after the Pocket Go Firmware Update. That does have a motor. Way easier catching fish and battling is more fun.
This was a great list! I'm really loving these collaboration videos.
Not to be controversial, and everyone has different opinions, but I was very surprised to see Super Paper Mario on this list. Of all the games I've played, I have to say that I thought this was the worst game, to the point where it's the only game I actually sold because I didn't want it in my collection.
I can see why someone would say that it influenced the genre in interesting ways, because it brought some interesting mechanics that were unique and fun to explore, but there were just a lot of low points in my opinion: the town that was the focus of the game was so large and so empty, and the game had such long and tedious dialogue scenes between the characters that were mildly tee-hee funny but not much more than that.
On the other hand, my first thought upon seeing the title of the video was Shin Megami Tensei, so I definitely agree with Nocturne... SMT games are so unique and have really set a high standard for JRPGs with their combat system and their demon fusing system instead of having a set party that levels up.
I was also really glad to see Fire Emblem: Awakening. It was also my first Fire Emblem game, and I completely fell in love with the series based on that game. The support ranks were so well done and while in many games, the characters are not particularly memorable to me, I remember so many of the characters from Awakening very fondly. We've seen the impact of FE:A in so many other games.
My choice after SMT with be Etrian Odyssey... bringing back the very old school RPGs of the late 80s but with modern mechanics and a Japanese feel to them, and a much more strategic approach to character development through the skill trees.
Anyways, great video as always, and nice to see some faces I know from gaming channels and get to know some new ones.
I haven't played a bunch of these games but will give them a try. My partner has played many of them and agrees with the choices.
Great list for sure
Thanks so much!
Hello from the bubbly discord of miss Bubbles. Came to see her gush over Red Dead 2 😜
I know she wasn't going to talk about Red Dead 2 🤫
Did the thumbnail give it away? 😂
@@orbalology I didn't even realized 😂. It would definitely have given it away 🤣.
I would say Golden Sun series. With the classes and abilities being dependent on the jenni (sp?)creatures it was quite different for the time. There are other games that allowed you to change classes like mention in the video but I wonder how many are based on "equipment". As much as I am scared of old titles\ideas being revived for current systems, I do wonder how well something like Golden Sun would do in today's world.
Hi Emily! Love the collabs, some great recommendations in this episode.
Glad to hear you enjoyed this one! Collabs are so much fun to put together so I'll try to incorporate more in the future :)
RPG Avengers......... Assemble!
🦸
Another stellar video and collab alike Emily!
I also love the diversity in game genres / tastes in games your friends have, it's genuinely really refreshing to see! Some truly great picks, specially The Witcher 3 :) lol
As always, stellar work Emily :)
Thanks Michael! I'm really happy with how much variety we were able to share in this video too (& it's always good to have some Witcher 3 rep 😂)
Fun fact: Kingdom Hearts was conceived when the CEO of Square Enix and the CEO of Disney meet in an elevator by pure luck.
Great video Emily! Everyone chose awesome games!
I especially loved Kingdom Hearts growing up because it was a game that brought my brother and I together and we would play through it for hours. I miss bonding over video games.
Jay, your look is awesome in this video and I know you talk about Suikoden with so much praise that I hope to finally play it once the remaster comes out.
Will have to play many of these choices soon… a lot of these JRPGs are on my backlog. Considering they are long games it will take me some time to get to all of them 😅
Thanks for watching, Alie! Kingdom Hearts brought my brother & I together too - we were both so invested in the story & conclusion of the first two entries :)
@@orbalology it’s so nice to know that! I wish they came out physical to relive this franchise.
It's a shame they did the Switch dirty with those cloud ports - I'm hoping they'll release another one of those compilations on the PS5 w/ the 3rd game one of these days.
Great picks! I would choose Bravely Default, I think the way you could bank/splurge on turns was innovative and influenced the octopath series as well
Agreed! I've yet to play this title but I think it played a major role in bringing back more traditional JRPGs, along with Octopath, as well :)
That's actually a good call. I'm sure we'll be looking at Team Asano's work as a whole in the future as ground-breaking for JRPGs.
@@orbalology I would jump straight to Bravely Default 2 on the switch, it's just a better version of what that game brings to the table, but yeah it definitely reinvigorated the traditional style
@@Food4Dogs Oh geez, I didn’t even realize the same people who did BD did octopath, so maybe they influenced themselves 😅
All JRPGs (apart for Witcher)! and wow there is no Elden Ring! I expected it 100% together with Breath of the wild as those 4 sure redefined the idea we have of an RPG is today. Also very console centred isn't it? This is interesting as consoles were far more common in the US than in Europe and in fact most of us Europeans connect historical RPGs mostly to PCs (might and magic 6... baldur's gate... world of warcraft... skyrim... diablo... those are the games we played as kids - older people would probably bring up ultima or daggerfall). Interesting how geographical location and generational affiliation weigh these answers.
There are more than 12 games in the legend of Heroes franchise that came out over several different game consoles including handhelds the first two came out on the PC engine the first one also came out for Turbo Grafx CD and 3 for the PSP in the US three games for trails in the sky which have been English translated for ps vita, 2 crossbell games, four games for Trails of Cold Steel and Trails into reverie, there's also a new game in Japan that we didn't get yet so that makes 16, every game is available in English except the 2 games, the 2nd one that was released on Sega mega drive and on PC Engine CD and the newest one that hasent been released here yet
Was hoping this was the collab video to bring Davidvinc and Erick Landon back together, even if indirectly.
I dont know if this is true for all but FFIV/FFII for the Super NES would be my pick.
RPG is not my genre, but still.. I enjoy watching your videos due to the enthusiasm you show towards collecting. I follow some gaming collector channels, but yours opens a window to a new world I wasn't familiar with, and it's fascinating to get a glimpse and get to know it. Btw, the few RPGs I played with and remember enjoying were Silver (from 1999) and Torchlight.
Thanks for watching, despite this deviating a bit from the main collecting topics on the channel!
I’m going to say Final Fantasy 4. Everything about that game is pretty much perfect. Characters, game design, music, graphics ect.
After beating FF16 recently I've been wanting to bump up more of the FF games on my backlog. FF4 is definitely one of the top on my list!
@@orbalology FF6 is the series best game.
For me, Trails in the Sky
No other game would dare to end the story on cliffhanger, and ask the players to wait several years for the next game
Nowadays you have FF7R
For real... FF1 introduced so many original game techniques and mechanics which were copied over and over again by other titles and FF7 with it's impact back in the days did so much for jRPG popularization. And no mention at all. Sad. But I do appreciate your opinions, guys. Thank you for the collab, Emily! Just perfect. As always.
There's no denying FF1's impact! Thanks for watching :)
Gotta go with my first ever RPG experience in FF7. I’d never played a game like it, and I remember coming to school everyday excited to talk about all the secrets and materia my friends and I discovered. It was the first game that I ever hit 99+ hours in, especially in the quest for a gold chocobo and Knights of the Round. Awesome video!
Thanks for watching! I'm ashamed that I still haven't finished the original FF7 - will need to boot up my save file and finally wrap it up before trying out the remake :)
Go for it! Both are amazing, but with very different combat systems. The story is enthralling, and the original even had moments that brought you to the brink of tears. (Not going to spoil in case you aren’t that far)
Sadly that spoiler got spoiled to me long ago 🥲 I made it to the chocobo farm area after getting lost on the overworld for long than I should admit lol
Completely understandable, those graphics make it hard to spot new locations.
Not to mention all the random encounters. I probably could have turned those down in the port I was playing but I was so frustrated after awhile and is probably what made me put the game down for so long lol
Did you ever play golden sun or legend of the dragoon
I haven't, though the Golden Sun games in particular are ones I really want to try!
I really want to play Xenoblade Chronicles X. It’s a bit cost prohibitive to buy a wiiu for one game. Hoping for the eventual rerelease!
SAME. The game looks really so interesting, hopefully someday it'll become available on another system!
KH and FE Awakening are some of my favorite games of all time. Great list.
They're really fantastic titles! Thanks for watching :)
OK... who else needs to see an RPG throwdown between Britta and Shirley Curry (the Skyrim Grandma) now? Make it happen, Emily! 😏
Oops. I forgot Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria. 3D WAS AWESOME!!!!!! I miss the 3DS.
Emily is so goated
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Illusion of Gaia.
Good choice!
Look at you becoming a beacon for gamers of all kinds, you are the best ❤
Thank you so much! I'm a big believer that variety is the spice of life, so I'm extremely thankful to get to know & interact with so many great & diverse content creators in this space :)
The Witcher 3 ❤
One of my favorites too :)
You got Britta in here!!!! Nice!!
I was really happy when she accepted the invite for this collab :)
David showing his age by picking Dragon Warrior 🤭 still a good pick though.
Plus Mandy making another appearance is always a great thing to see.
Great video overall
Haha, he's not wrong about Dragon Warrior 3's huge impact on the genre! Thanks for watching :)
SMT Nocturne definitely one I want to play one day!
Same!! I have it on my shelf, and one day I'll get to it 😂
I love rpgs 😂
food4dogs on point w/ her pick, ha
Couldn't agree more!
Thank you.
