My biggest concern is the kids who play in the USHL, BCHL, and NAHL having the opportunity to play NCAA D1 and developing into professional athletes. I’m not opposed to lifting the ban but it’s definitely going to affect how far some players go.
It will be interesting from an American/College Hockey fan perspective. The talent pool just shot way up so the immediate effect would be that smaller schools and schools from weaker conferences will have a bigger player pool to recruit from. The Big 10, Hockey East, Minnesota schools, and Denver will still be the most attractive places for recruits but now all schools will have a big player pool. So I think players from the USHL, NAHL, and BCHL, deserving of D1 will play D1 but there will be more competition for who goes where.
@@lignitecole Yes I have, I was referring to school size and the biggest schools that have hockey (except ASU) are in the big 10, and the hockey east and Minnesota schools are some of the most well-known programs. Obviously, Denver will be a strong team this season and the defending champions ( curious to what Carle's thoughts are to the rule change,)
True but the best players will all chose to play in the CHL now. The lower tier leagues will still exist but they've lost some of their appeal to players for sure. The USHL and BCHL are good leagues i'm sure they'll keep producing talent.
