I moved to Positano in 1999. I only meant to stay for the summer but I'm still here after all these years. In this video I tell you a bit about why I ended up here and a few other questions that I get asked.

I have been to the Amalfi coast twice, one of my favourite places! Did the Path of the Gods both times - pretty hard going - esp all the steps back down into Positano!! So happy to have found your channel - my dream is to live part-time in Italy - just need to persuade my husband 😆
How wonderful it must feel having your own band of friends to talk to whenever you feel like doing it. you throw it out there to the universe and we your friends respond 😁

So enjoyed hearing your story, Nicki. My late husband and his family are from southern Italy and our son is working on getting his Italian citizenship as he's wanting to live in Italy but hasn't decided on the city yet. The Amalfi Coast looks wonderful.

Hi Nicki, I have recently discovered you on Utube and just love your vlogs, I am 77 years old now and your life in Positano reminds me so much of my lovely life in Capri when in my thirties, where I lived at "La canzone del mare"for almost ten years as companion, hairdresser, secretary to Miss Gracie Fields (Englands most beloved and well known and well loved entertainer. I often wish I was back in Capri, but the steps and hills would be so hard for me now!! but seeing you so happy in Positano brings my life whan I was young back to me, so keep making your filmsas I enjoy them somuch. Fascinating love story. Thank you for sharing. Weddings, of course. I forgot about their popularity there. Perhaps similar or even more than Lake Como. It's so nice to be your own boss, and have a part of the year to yourself. Very lucky. You're a woman with many talents. And a looker, too. Beautiful daughter. Your Italian sounds superb to my ears. I'm enjoying this new find.
What an adventure your life is! I love your story. Your pets are adorable. It's awesome that your daughter is perfectly bilingual. My mother tongue is Spanish (I'm Argentinian) and I speak English as a second language. I have to work on my accent. I understand a bit of Italian (because of its similarity to Spanish) but I am sure the local Positano dialect must be so difficult and super hard to understand. I love languages and travelling but I find it hard to do it as often as I would like to. Italy is definitely in my bucket list...

Positano is beautiful, visited it about 8 years ago, we stayed in Sorrento. I would love to come back again, it is very touristy in July/August. Wee Holly is beautiful, so happy she has found a loving home with you and Carlo. Italian is a lovely language. 🇬🇧
I've wondered how you ended up permanently in Italy since I came across your insta! I first went to Italy when I was 14, then insisted we go twice a year every year until I moved to Milan myself after college. I only stayed a year, but always planned to go back when I was a bit older and settled ( I was missing England by the time I came home) then my sister met her Italian now Husband and moved there herself, so now I get to visit many times through the year and get the best of both worlds!
Italy is such a beautiful place. If you love it, you love it forever. I haven't been to the south yet, but I long to!
To be, honest, I thought you were in your 20s until you mentioned you had a daughter in another video. You look great!

Well, I never planned to stay so long but I think my life has been richer because of it! And re my age, I got asked for ID in Waitrose the other day (spending a few days in the UK) and let out a very loud 'woohoo!"

My daughter n I spent 4 days in gorgeous Positano October 2019! Absolutely love the peaceful gorgeous town!
I went in October too, just not in 2019. It was not crowded at all! It was perfect!

be in Capri for the fifth consecutive year at the beginning of July, and
after that we will spend four days in Positano. We were there 5 years
ago too, but this time we have a valuable added resource in our Positano preparations; your videos. Everyday life videos from Positano are in fact very inspiring and increase our anticipation greatly, so a heartfelt mille grazie is in order!
Also, the technical quality of your videos has increased dramatically in the last few months, to the ironic point that you now potentially contribute to an increased flow of tourist into Positano yourself. («Ironic» because you somewhere stated that what you like the least about Positano are the crowds of tourists ...) Please don't let that stop you from doing what you're doing; I for one love it, and you may even risk that I thank you personally should we bump into you! (I'll thank Holly, at the very least ...)
Thank you so much! I am trying to make my videos better each time with the little equipment I have. Yes, the crowds annoy me when they get in my shot, but I probably would have nothing to film if this was a non tourist place! Do say hello if you see me or Holly!

Questions for a future video-does your daughter want to stay in Positano when she grows up? Are there any jobs in Positano that you could keep all year? And how expensive is it to live there?
A fairytale with a lot of steps in it (I know you've done them !) My husband has a year round job, the cemetery is not seasonal! I'll write the other questions down and start a list, thanks xx

Hello Nicki....nice of you to explain how you arrived in Positano. The place you ended up living in is such a beautiful part of the world. When you spoke about how busy Positano is with tourists in July and August, it does make going into town troublesome...so many people travel now, I guess it's bound to happen :( Love your vlog❤️

Hi, just discovered your channel. I’m an American in Paris, having met a Frenchman years and years ago, whose best friend’s daughter got married about four years ago in... Positano! Wonder if you did the wedding? It was beautiful, despite the unseasonable morning to night thunderstorm! I was so impressed with the wedding organizers, who sprang into action and managed to have spur of the moment towels, flip-flops and tenting waiting for 150 people when they ended their climb to the villa where it was held. Fell in love with your town and it’s people. Just subscribed.

I remember many, many years ago I was blogging and stumbled upon Annika's blog, and then yours ~ and it was actually after reading one of your posts that I called my cousin and told her we had to book our tickets to Positano - and we did! I was 20 and it was one of the most magical trips I've ever taken, now Im impatiently waiting for the opportunity to return with my husband. Loved getting to know more about you and, as always, the glimpses of Positano!

I love your story... I am with a Hispanic I have always been attracted to languages, but do not think I am fluent in any of them... I do understand a little of Italian Spanish , French, and German... but my tongue doesn't always respond properly :) It is so awesome how you each shared your language with your daughter... what a lovely life you all have! So much beauty everywhere and a wonderful place to live.

geez Carlo was a hottie! what a great life you've had since moving there! SOME DAY I will get there! Rome is the closest I've been, and the northern parts from milan to Venice...I would move to Italy in a heart beat if the opportunity arose. I love the part where you say "there is more to Positano than the beach:" and then a second later "I just got to the beach" LOL.
