Honestly, I think the best first car is a Ford Crown Victoria, those cars are the physical equivalent of the Ford slogan “Ford Built Tough”.
Not available everywhere though, and it's too big for a first car.
@@TopiasSalakka Too big? Wdym??? Full size sedans are goated. Big engine, big cabin, big trunk. What more could you ask for? Just say you can't park anything bigger than a smart.
@@T-bone_225 I've parked 5-axle trucks.
Doesn't change the fact that a Crown Vic is too big for a first car, and its availability is very limited outside of North America.
@@TopiasSalakka Well inside America or anywhere that it's available it's a great first car. Why do you think it's to big for a first car? I don't understand that. There is no such thing as to big for a first car especially in America. Bigger=better. I drive a 2001 Dodge Intrepid SE. It's a full size sedan with nice big comfy passenger cabin and a huge spacious trunk. It's my first car and I have never had any problem with it being to big. The Crown Victoria is just slightly longer and bigger than my car anyway. Both are full size sedans and great first cars. I don't understand why someone wouldn't want a big engine, big cabin/comfortable interior and plenty of trunk space.
@@T-bone_225 Idk to me a first car should be small and fuel efficient, last thing i want is a big v8 when working on a crap wage.
It's also easier to learn how to drive with a small car, parking is less stressful etc.
Also i think first car should have minimal driving aids, mine didn't even have ABS 🗿
Drove a manual 1st gen and these cars are hella fun to drive.
Its a honda. You can tell by how well built the dash is. Its what made these cars stand out from all the other cheap cars at the time.
Looks like the interior to a 2013 nissan
@@trevorlegech Not even close
@@Inferno45 Nah it's pretty damn close, especially that instrument cluster, to where I was concerned it was a late 2000s Nissan of some sort. Nice for an economy car when they built this one, not nice anymore.
Which would be a terrible car to recommend to anyone because Nissans cars are hot garbage. (I've heard their trucks are better but I just avoid the brand in general after 3 different bad cars that were pushed on me by family members who either didn't know better or didn't care).
Check out the interiors on the new redesigned Hondas and Toyotas, they look fancy now. Probably not as sturdy, but it will look nice as long as you don't abuse it.
@@Inferno45 it deos look very similar to a 2012 nissan altima. the cluster and steering wheel look very close. but the ac unit and those seats look much better than the base model 2.5 altima. but the 3.5 v6 altima of the 08-2012 gen had leather seats.
Pontiac Vibes/Toyota Matrixes are absolutely phenomenal first cars as well. I got a used 2005 vibe, and it already had 273k miles, and it’s going strong at 281k right now
One of the ‘quirks’ of the first generation Matrix is that the odometer will stop counting at 299,999 miles, the second generation fixed that bug, but in the process, the second gen lost the incredibly useful “flop forward” front passenger seat (allowing you to carry longer cargo) and the flip up back glass on the rear hatch, it actually allowed you to access the rear hatch without opening the entire hatchback door
Where are you from? How much did you spend?
@@Musou_Black
Got it for free since the person I got it from didn’t need it and didn’t want to spend the money to fix it. (It cost about 1500 for all the repairs iirc) I’m on the west coast though. Strictly speaking my car isn’t going to have any resale value due to the mileage, but it works great
Got an 03 vibe for work 2 years ago. 223k on it. Drove it till 280k and sold it. Fun to drive
@@Musou_Blackl
Very nice Honda jazz car 🚗 and the colour is beautiful too thank you for showing this Honda model
Had an 07 Fit Sport Manual in Orange. Absolute work horse of a commuter. Not much power, gas mileage was ok at mid-30's, could have been better given the size and power of the car. But it could haul a lot, handled well, was 100% reliable and cheap to maintain,
I love how solid the interiors of the older cars were. No matter which brand you talk about.
By "Solid" you mean "cheap hard plastic". That's not a feature to be proud of.
@@wolfshanze5980 Soft touch plastics get sticky, shrinked and peeled over time. These hard plastics don't have that problem.
@@aabidamn
And they‘re easy to clean and don‘t show scratches.
@@wolfshanze5980and what’s the alternative? Shiny soft plastic? 😂😂😂
@@aabidamnOk, but the cheap hard plastic over time makes its fittings loose, making a lot of noises.
I’ve been eyeing these lately lol. I kinda want one as a back up car.
Bruh, a 2007 honda fit with 85k miles still goes for $10,000. Market is stupid crazy right now.
Lol forget that
I will pay &2,450!
Exactly, I was like where the hell you get a good condition Honda for 3-5K? No where.
That's rare if it has that few miles for a 17 y.o car
Buy a sonata instead with this car if they crash u they send u to china
I agree. Tiny cars with manual gearboxes, while typically slow, can be super nimble and entertaining to zip around in. They are also usually cheap to buy and cheap to run. My favorite (and my daily) is the Mazda 2.
Owned a GD3 for a couple years. Reasons for sale include: comfort and road noise, comfort for passengers, overtaking power on highway, other cars visibility of you, and safety. Still love the fit to this day, I just hate passing someone and they feel the need to creep on your lane because your car is so small.
These are fantastic, especially for maintenance costs, I’ve worked on a few myself, and they are among the easier cars to work on
When he said "basic radio" you could already see the word "Fit" on the gear shifter 😂😂😂
Yeah this guy isn't too smart
Drove a 2nd Gen 5mt for a while. WONDERFUL CAR. that L15A7 4 cylinder isn't incredibly powerful but they handle AMAZING. that engine block design was used in F1 09-10 and it was extremely reliable. I consistently got 40-41 mpg AVERAGE. and they are super safe. I got ran off a highway by some jackass with a gun in heavy traffic. I was airborne and hit some concrete hard and was not even concussed. such a fantastic fun little car.... I miss it.
I wish they didnt discontinue it because its one of the few cars I would consider buying brand new if I had money. even with all that disgusting modern bullshit they put in cars.
you find one of these in good shape. get it. it won't let you down. mine was 12 years old when I got it and I drove it for 2 years before I got wrecked. only ever needed oil and filter changes. it had tire sensors and all kinds of nice features.
I guessed it was a Honda. Pretty reliable and fuel efficient.
I thought it would be a Toyota
@@Frusie Both are good brands
A Corolla is way better, it's not underpowered and it has lots of room the Sedan models. But the Corolla Hatchbacks look sporty. My 2010 Corolla XRS had a 5 Speed Manual Transmission, it was reliable. The Alternator died once so I replaced it and I didn't have any more real issues.
You could tell it was a Honda by looking at the dash and going "yes, it's reliable and fuel efficient"... you got that from looking at the dash?
The interior stumped me from the beginning, I never realized it was a Honda nor this being the Fit. Great little car indeed
I was gonna say the crv is a great first car aswell . Then you said Honda I laughed and said yeah those jazz are fun k20 swapped ..... But the crv comes with a stock b20 ...yeah both underated and fantastic first car for anyone .
My dad had one for years 2010-2023 He had a sport manual i fell in love with it to the point where i found my own little red one about last year. Mines a 2012 honda fit with just about 20k on it and i bought it with 9,500. For a first car its amazing
Good old honda Jazz... That was the car what my parents has while i grow up.
Bro, really rocking the omega!!
People made fun of these when they came out, now everybody wants one because of how reliable they are lol
Same for the Chevrolet tracker. They were hated because they were small. Now they’re what Jeep owners wish they had
Not me or anyone I know wants one
@NikoBellaKhouf2 So?
I don't. I never would, or will want one.
Excited to see how long my 2015 lasts. Already has 130k miles on it though 😅
I remembered when my dad used to tell me that you have to drive a Honda civic in your lifetime especially in your youth. He wasn’t wrong I guess. And I drove it upto the V6 Honda Accord. Very nice car to drive
my first was a toyota celica 2000. best little car ever. 5 thousand and it never broke down and it looks alot better then the fit.
The 2nd gen honda fit/jazz handle insanely good. My only downside to this car is the horrendous interior
They are the best small cars ever made. Period.
Longterm review please! Love the Fits
for anyone wondering the build quality in this is 10x better than a brand new one similar to other auto brands
The center console let me know it was a Fit. I wanted one so bad when I was in undergrad.
$3,000!?
That's amazing! ❤️
I drive an 08 Sport, I recognized it the first frame of the video lol. It was indeed my first car! 197K and going strong, no major issues - just routine maintenance and some coilpacks.
Lucky you! Take good care of it!
You know it’s old when it says “MP3/WMA” 😂 all jokes aside…the Honda fit is a fun car, especially the first gen. I remember watching a video interview with the chief engineer of the project and he clearly stated that the fit was created with racing in mind (frame design, suspension design, etc) due to japans Kei Cup racing. Plenty of aftermarket performance parts for these vehicles
Ya, first gen is 2001-2008. My last car "pre-infotainment" era was a 2006 Dodge Magnum... "infotainment" started to become a thing around 2010 or so. Before then they were just called "car radios".
KNEW IT!!!!! My current and first car is a 2nd gen Jazz. The air temp and that whole thing and the steering gave it away
I love my 2nd gen Fit ❤❤❤
I have it for 10 years and plan to still keep it for as long than I can.
Honda Fit my beloved.
It's small and light as a feather for a car, yet it packs a punch on a touge.
Thanks you just help boost the price of old used Honda fits. Those who want to buy one will throw a fit . We don't want to pay more😢. The demand far outstrips supply already .
Im 24 years old, got a fully modded C5 corvette and bmw m3 and a 2015 Honda Fit. I drive the honda the most out of all 3, and its the most fun too. 😂
How could the slow as hell Honda be the most fun?
@@victor_734 Because the C5 has 600 ponies, so nothing where i live beats me, The BMW M3 is a 2005, the Honda Fit is the newest 2015, so the interior is more modern and comfortable, in this economy its a smarter option to drive right now too, it gets 35 to the gallon. Back when i was 20 to 22 i use to drive the corvette as a daily, now that im a little older, i see why i dont now.
Death trap, great first and LAST car.
somehow your Terminator pfp made your comment funnier 😂
Loved my fit. Would’ve kept it had I not had multiple children. 10/10 recommend!
I knew it was an old Acura or Honda from the steering wheel buttons lol
guy or girl, enthusiast or not, tuner or commuter, a 1990's-2016 honda is for SURE the best first car a person can have.
Easy to work on, easy to fix, cheap to own, great on gas, super practical, very easy to tune and make good power.
Basically these adult legos just work for anything in your life when it's your first outing with a car
👍
I wish they brought the hybrid platform over here to the US, I would buy it ina heartbeat.
They also an EV platform too, limited numbers.
Kinda miffed the 4WD was a Japan only option.
‘08 Fit base model AT. Good little car, still doing its thing, honestly a good starter and you really appreciate the versatility of the hatchback and folding seats to haul a lot of stuff surprisingly easy.
Yes! I still have a 2008 manual honda fit. I used to be so gentle with it.. now I love to " blast off" in 2nd gear. 😊
Same bro I love it so much. Wouldn't trade the stick for the world
2004 Nissan 350z is the best entry level I'd say 😭
15k is the cheapest one I can find
My first car was a 2007 Honda Fit. Loved it. Everything you could want and then some. Took the muffler off so it even sounded cool
That S on the gear shift is not sport mode it's second gear
Hehe... good catch... "Sport mode" wasn't a thing in 2001.
@@wolfshanze5980 the fit didnt come to the us until 2007 & sport mode definitely existed in 2007 considering the 1991 lexus ls400 had sport mode
This actually is a sport mode, it says it in the manual and all over message board/forums, its also a CVT, no second gear, all S does is maintain higher revs and is more responsive and also feels a bit quicker.
No one listen to this comment.
@@LeSwexy a little quicker on a Honda Fit, is still econo-slow mode on most any other vehicle. There's no turning a Fit into a "sporty" car.
What about the water leak issues that require these be parked in a garage or carport to keep from the interiors filling with water and molding. Oh, and the CVT.
What? I have one for 5 years now and never heard of such a thing
Had my 2006 Jazz at 70kish miles for 5 years and then just crashed it last week :') she saved my life and was a good runner for when i needed it, but damn those airbags didnt go off at a high speed lmao
Getting my 2020 civic tomorrow
The radio looks really neat and integrated but it's probably unnecessarily difficult to change out to an aftermarket which is a shame.
1st gen Honda Fit. That funky radio was iconic
Had an 07 Fit Sport with a manual. So much fun and so practical. If it wasn’t the fact that the ride was so poor that I’m sure it gave me back problems. I’d probably still have it.
You are right. The $100 bill has some yellow. Our currency inherited an old design. There is also an ongoing effort to put Harriet Tubman on some denominations. There used to be a big problem in France among others with not even having a leftover box even available.
bought a 2010 fit around 130k miles a few years ago, only changed the oil on it since while running courier work in it too
The Honda fit/Jazz! I love that car!
I hava 2009 HOnda fit for 15 years and no tiny problem at all. Absolutely worry free car.
its a Honda jazz my parents had two of them back in the day, you probably call it Fit. Great car!
Ohhh that was my first car a 2006 Honda Jazz manual sport edition. Recognised it immediately. Lovely car and guess what it still drives fine! Never sold it kept it around as a secondary car and it rocks!
They are really a great small car and I think the 2010 version got a sporty looking face-lift and there's plenty of customisation you can do to make them look even better, so it's a good looking car with honda reliability
Great car have a honda jazz and have clocked more than 10k kilometres on it but trust me the best you can get in the entire segment. Fun to drive . Safe . Fast as good . 180 kmph max I have clocked in it .❤❤
I wouldn’t buy it but if I was starting out with a first car this wouldn’t be so bad.
3-5000!
Try 10+ around here.
3-5000 gets you something that don’t run.
Fun fact your first car is always best car it has best feelings ❤
Ah...that was my first car. Had a chance to drive many similar cc engine cars. But the stability and the drive with stick shift was awesome on these Honda machines. This is one of the best cars overall not only for a first time driver.
I got my first car two months ago, 2014 dodge avenger with low mileage for $ 7,000. It’s great
Tbh camry is also a great pick because of its efficiency reliability and performance and comfortability.
I had the 2nd gen Honda Fit, it has so many cup holders, and so many chair modes, and use it like little transport van. 1 tank will get me about 520km for a 40 liter capacity. One of the best car I had owned.
That is so pretty
As a Indian... i will speak for my country. I believe u got so many views from my fellow Indian that we all thought that car was Maruti Suzuki RITZ and want to look about that... But yesss its not!😢😂
knew it was a honda cause the center console lol hondas love that storage and spacious spots under the radio
The problem is that you don't want your first car to be small and easy to drive. Your first car you want to be a big standard transmission hooptie, so that you get more experience driving a more difficult vehicle
I knew this instantly, I test drove so many, but a lot of them leak in the hatch, so I passed. Love them though!
When I saw the heat and air controls, I knew it was an Honda at the least 😁.
“Must be a little bit sporty”
