Amazing work. Beyond my expectations. For me it’s been an 8 year project from the day I started the work to pull the engine to today. But during that time there was a lot of work no one saw. Rebuild the gauges, the vacuum wiper motor, take 2 heaters to make one. I learned how to polish and do glass replacement. My mom and dad were stunned. It was my mom’s dad’s truck. She learned to drive in it, as well as me and my boys. Even my dad drove it to work for a year. It started out as a daily driver but Mark you are and artist and a perfectionist and I was lucky to find you. Thank you! And I can’t wait to see what you do with the GTO!
Thank you Darren, you were great to work with and always open to suggestions. Your job now besides waxing the truck is to drive the wheels off that thing and enjoy it as much as possible. I will keep in touch on local shows so you can show off your beautiful truck. Serious plans are already in the works for the GTO as soon as I knock out a couple of quick projects. Thanks again Mark
Stunning job. I am not usually a fan of blue, but that is beautiful. I like how you kept things as original as possible. The offroad looking BFGoodrench tires keep things looking like a truck too. well done!
Thanks Michael, It really did come out beautifully. The owner tries to drive it to work once a week just to enjoy it more. I am not a big fan of blue either but this is a great color. Mark
Thank you Mark for all that you have done to help those of us who love the hobby of restoring these beautiful classic vehicles. I'm restoring a 1951 GMC, so your videos are especially relevant to my project. Your low key, thorough and humble approach to each step in the process, using the most basic tools, and showing how you build the equipment you need, is especially inspiring. You're like a good and helpful friend that I can turn to for advice each step of the way. I hope you know how much your videos are appreciated.
Emelene, Thank you so much for those kind words. People like you are the reason I started the channel and I am glad I have been some help to you and others. Let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck on your project! Mark
Mark, she came out looking great!! Good job, outstanding. Really like that blue. Your videos are very detailed informative and you are passing on a lot of experience. Thank you.
Thanks Rodney. That Blue Ribbon Metallic was an excellent choice for sure. I hope I have been of some help to you and others so they can get their builds done and looking awesome too. Mark
Wow Mark, where to begin. You kept saying all along that this wasn't to be a show truck. But your work ethic says otherwise! The color itself is a showstopper!! Towards the end of the video your pride really shows. I know it will be sad to see it go, but you can rest assured you put your heart and soul into this project! I'm excited for your GTO project as well. I'll be following that as well. Thanks for the journey. I haven't really noticed the changes from the videos over time, but I do know you are one of the few RUclipsrs that aren't just trying to get views and sell me something. You really care about teaching and the effort is not unnoticed!
Thanks Doug. I only have one gear I guess so I am stuck with it. At least it is a good one. Trust me my first videos could have been much better but I improved pretty quickly and continue to try and put out quality with good production value and no gimmicks. Thanks for noticing. The GTO will be a once in a lifetime build for me I think. Lots of ideas over the years so it is time to put them into action. I feel good about what is to come. Mark
Saludos desde Mexico Hey Mark That thing is so cool. It’s wonderful feeling after all the trials and tribulations to just sit back and soak it all in. You put a part of you soul in that truck. When you’re a craftsman like you are that’s just how it goes. BTW It always takes longer than we think it should but that’s just how it goes too. It’s been great sharin back and forth with you. Thanks Jack
What a nice thing to say, thank you Jack. You are very correct it always takes longer than we think it will. I don't think I have ever finished a build earlier than I thought I would. How are things going down south? Mark
Just beautiful Mark! You guys did a wonderful job on this family heirloom. I’ll use these videos as a reference for technical issues and as a goal for the quality of my work. Yes! Your videos are fantastic.
That is so nice to hear, thank you Robert. You can totally get these results and I am available to help any way I can just let me know if you have any questions. Just keep plugging away and it will be finished before you know it. Mark
Steller job Mark. It's sad to see her go but an awesome story. I can't wait to see you working on your own car. My 53 3100 has been parked since 1989 and I'm finally working on it. Thank you for your time.
Thank you. Where does the time go? Life and more important things can get us off track for sure. I am glad your truck is finally getting the love it deserves and hopefully in the not to distant future it will be screaming down the track. I can't wait to see me working on my GTO too 😃 Mark
That truck came out show ready, wish I could drop mine off to you, at least I know it would be done right. Thanks for all the videos on it I'm sure over the next few years I'll be watching them again, still can't find that color for less than 1,000. Great job
Thank you Brad. I am sure your truck will come out looking awesome. Remember to start small and get some wins in before you tackle the harder stuff so you don't get discouraged. Each skill you master will lead you to the next. Staying motivated and keeping at it is the hardest part. If I remember I will talk to my buddy at the paint store and see what the current price of the paint is for comparison. Let me know when you have questions. Mark
Excellent job, Mark! I really like the look of the wheels and tires. Can you tell me where I can purchase the chrome wheels and what size tires are on this truck?
Loved watching these ‘50 Chevy videos! I’m building a 54. Might you recommend an adhesive to attach the outer door window molding? Never really glued metal together in this way. Thanks
Hi and thank you. I didn't actually install the moldings the owner did so I will ask him to chime in here and let you know how he went about it. I think they are held in with clips. Darren should be able to answer all your questions on that though.
It’s a very tight fit. The entire time I was concerned I would bend the frame or scratch the paint while installing. The frame needs to be slightly compressed or folded in from the top to fit it into door opening.
Darren, Thank a bunch. I know what you mean by tight fit. I’m able to manipulate it it there but it doesn’t sit tight and flush all around unless I squeeze it in two spots with my hands, with screws installed. Only asking because it appears my other door has some light adhesive around the mating surfaces. I guess I’ll look for a bonding agent and clamp it. I thought of you guys for the way you handled the hood! Never thought to do that. Now I have another task added to my list. Thanks guys!

Thank you so much for this video. I am working on my 1954 Chevy truck and this has been so helpful! You are an amazing craftsman and teacher.
Thank you Dennis. Hopefully the series will be of some help as you work through your build. Let me know if you have any questions.

Excellent work!!

Fantastic awesome job beautiful chevy
Thanks Ricky, it really came out nice and the owner loves it. He tries to drive it to work once a week.

Stellar job Mark! It's a must, That Darren takes that to Rods on the Bluff and shows the world this build.
Thanks Dave and thanks for all the assists on this one. I am sure Darren will show it off but I will bug him when shows come up locally just in case.

@@FoothillPaintandFabrication Thanks Mark, great job again, makes me look forward to the day it looks like that
Absolutely Stunning! Thanks so much for sharing so much knowledge through this project. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do on the GTO.
Thank you so much Leo, I really appreciate it. I am excited about getting to the GTO and putting all my ideas and dreams into it.
Mark
Fantastic job Mark. It is absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks Jeff, glad you like it. Time to clean the shop and get going on other stuff.

The Job you Did ? Is A 10 PLus. Museum
The truck came out really nice, I am glad you like it.

Hi and thank you. I didn't actually install the moldings the owner did so I will ask him to chime in here and let you know how he went about it. I think they are held in with clips. Darren should be able to answer all your questions on that though.
The window molding does not glue in. It is a tight fit with a couple screws that sit behind the window channel.
It’s a very tight fit. The entire time I was concerned I would bend the frame or scratch the paint while installing. The frame needs to be slightly compressed or folded in from the top to fit it into door opening.

Good luck with that. Were the frames bent when originally removed? Are they original or reproductions?
I can't remember if I ask you this question before or not, Who makes restore parts for a 1948 Dodge coupe?
I am sorry I have no idea. Only done a few Dodges in my life and they were later models.
Mark
Do you remember what the color of blue that is, or a color number?
It is a Toyota color called blue ribbon metallic.
Cuanto vale esa chevrolet?
Para la familia no tiene precio, pero si se vendiera, diría que entre 30 y 40 mil dólares.
