On this channel, we the Kipchirchir Family have committed to sharing the realities of living abroad and the things many people won't tell you about living here. Living abroad can look like living in heaven to those we left back home sometimes but we are here to say that sometimes as immigrants we face harsh realities and we also face a lot of struggles to survive. However, there is a good side to living abroad.
In this video, I share some of the challenges we face such as job loss. I got the unexpected news that I lost my job on December 9th, 2023 and I want to share my story and inspire anyone who might be going through this to not lose hope. As a Kenyan American trucker, I lost my dream job!

I'm new to your channel and here from your Christmas road trip vlog. You're such a beautiful family, and as long as you stand with each other, things will always work out. A few years ago, my hubby was fired from a job. It felt like the end of the world. We had a hefty mortgage, bills to pay, and family to support back at home. The US economy was on the decline with very few jobs in his field. I was in school at the time and did make much. But we rode that wave together as a family. We cut back on spending to the bare bones. He took on whatever job he could find in the interim until the economy turned around a few years later. Today, the mortgage and all debts are paid off. We look back at that time as eye-opening and the turning point in our lives. We promised ourselves never to get too comfortable until we'd created financial security. We learned to live frugally on less than one paycheck and used the rest of the money to pay off all debts. You guys got this. Just have a clear goal, create an action plan and go for it. We'll be here cheering you on🙏🏽
I’m so sorry to hear you guys went through that! We feel your pain now. This situation definitely has changed us and we believe that this is the turning point of our lives. We were in our comfort zone but after this we learned a lot of lessons from this especially those you mentioned. We promised ourselves to never go back to again too. I feel that... Nimekuwa in that position. 1st January 2024 nimeloose my job as a chauffeur. I cldnt eat I was restless for almost a week. @thekipchirchirfamily be strong, in every dark cloud there's a silver lining

Sorry about your job I was fired from Jb hunt to after my truck jackknifed two weeks ago I feel your pain.
Man the discouragements you go through and the way pain of feeling like you’re being treated unfairly makes you feel worthless man. But I believe when one door closes another one opens. “Truck drivers don’t get fired we just change trucks “sorry brother sending love ❤️ your way

Learn from the mistake you made, you should have reported the incident, I’m sure the company procedures were in your training.
Take it as a lesson learned for your next job.

I Feel So sorry for The loss of your Job. Btw when it comes to something to do with Safety The Americans have no shortcut about it. I work At the US Embassy and they don't take Safety for granted. Many people have been fired here. Anyway Wish you All The Best

I don't know how I ended up here.. I lost my job abroad and it was totally unexpected, I eventually had to go back to my home country.
It's a painful place to be in but I love what you said towards the end.. don't hang to the past and miss what's ahead of you.
We take them as lessons and move on.
