Another cracking episode. I loved the moment of unintentional humour: question to housekeeper, "What colour was the van?". "Orange". (witness shown black and white photo of a van). "Yes, that's it!". And wasn't that Mr Bean on the jury?
Watching these at random. Among other things I love to see the actors I can recognise. A biggie this time with Simon Callow. Great work from the uploader!!!
Oh how court procedure has changed. Now days the judge would admonish the defence for not objecting to several of the prosecutors questions. At least two she was asking the opinion of the witness what others thought and at least one about the mental health of another for which he was not qualified.
Another great episode Jez, thank you. The verdict was absolutely the right one, want to say more but don't want to give it away! Saving An Englishman's Home for tonight, just two today lol. I'm a Hammer Horror fan and know Thorley Walters from those films, so it will be two episodes featuring him today (I saw the outstanding "Home" the other day). I agree Caroline Blakiston's character is scary, I know her as Lady Constance from Brass and if I remember rightly she played Aunt Agatha in the new version of Poldark.
Defence Counsel George Unwin may also be the "Billy" Unwin who was the judge in (among others) Personal Credit, as he was played by Thorley Walters in both roles.
Come in from work shitty shift and this cherred me up always look foward to your uploads most of all crown court, for giving t v pleasure i find you guilty...my sentence for ever load croun court.
Michael.J. Jackson. He played a similarly posh vegetarian replacement driver in Sweeney 2. Regan tells him to fill the glove box with junk food and sweets.
Michael Jackson (the actor) also turned up as Flying Squad driver and terminal vegetarian Robert (not Bob) Soames in the movie Sweeney 2 around this time, to the bane of DI Jack Regan, "The squad will be eating hamburgers, frankfurters and Colonel Sanders fried chicken!" 🤣🤣
Amazing how often these people are found Not Guilty by the jury! When they so clearly are guilty! Why do you think the Judge deliberately refuses to award costs?
I think Caroline Blakiston aswell as Andre Morell both appeared on The Professionals...I didn't like her character there and would have loved to put her in her place...
She’s also in the Crown Court episodes: Fair Play, Embers, Past Times and In the Heat of the Moment. Excellent in all of them, especially Fair Play. :)
Love.the black and white photo of the ORANGE van 😂
I listened to this while doing something else on the computer. It is a very well written/produced drama that could have been enjoyed on the radio.

Well done again Jez,
Thank you for the nostalgic memories of me and nan watching Crown Court together x

Thanks again Jez - a very unusual case in the series with the defendant being charged with being an accessory rather than principal offender.
I don't think the judge liked the verdict!

Thanks again Jez.
Andre Morell played the judge in Ten Rilington Place
The year he died. Great actor.
@@alithealien Yes yet another one of my favourites he also played a judge in his last film the brilliant, The First Great Train Robbery

I’ve been hanging around the toilets in Fulchester for years with no luck 😂
.another clear and perfect download.well done jez.
.yes judge well pissed off with that verdict.
Just realised the Prosecution is Mon Mothma from Star Wars.
Defence Counsel George Unwin may also be the "Billy" Unwin who was the judge in (among others) Personal Credit, as he was played by Thorley Walters in both roles.
.distressing case.but there should of been more of these.it's what goes on in a normal court.so shud alert more people on tv.great episode.
There are no 'prisons for the criminally insane'; institutions such as Broadmoor are NHS hospitals, though the security is high and 'prisonlike'
.the copper in the 1st episode.ginger guy.was Jack reegans driver in the movie Sweeney 2.also he was in brookside.
He was also a teacher in the drama series one summer , which is definitely worth a watch

I'll do my best, Bruce! :)
When they said 'Bedford Van', I had assumed it was a proper van...but it's a dinky little HA (Viva) like the Post Office Telephones used. 😊
thanks Jez
The friend is Simon Callow! , excellent in "Chance in a million" with a very young Brenda Blethyn, to be seen here on YT.
Crown Court has been repeated now on the British Talking Pictures TV channel in their daytime schedule
The ginger Robert Powell makes a damned unlikely copper imo.
Michael.J. Jackson. He played a similarly posh vegetarian replacement driver in Sweeney 2. Regan tells him to fill the glove box with junk food and sweets.
WOW - P J Hammond - awesome writer of nearly EVERYTHING : )
Is it Simon Callow acting as the witness at 1'03", Mr Craft?
Yes it is.
Michael Jackson (the actor) also turned up as Flying Squad driver and terminal vegetarian Robert (not Bob) Soames in the movie Sweeney 2 around this time, to the bane of DI Jack Regan, "The squad will be eating hamburgers, frankfurters and Colonel Sanders fried chicken!" 🤣🤣
.the ginger guy giving evidence.in part 1.was Jack regans driver. In the movie Sweeney 2.
I agree with the verdict. And legal aid should pay the costs. ❤
The defendant reminds me of James May.
Amazing how often these people are found Not Guilty by the jury! When they so clearly are guilty! Why do you think the Judge deliberately refuses to award costs?
.or have I got it wrong.and was it brookside he was in.
.the judge actually died in Nov of this year 1978.
Ta ever so, Jez.
My pleasure, DDanddrums. :) There will be more to come soon.
I think Caroline Blakiston aswell as Andre Morell both appeared on The Professionals...I didn't like her character there and would have loved to put her in her place...
The Legendary Caroline Blakiston (Prosecuting)!
She’s also in the Crown Court episodes: Fair Play, Embers, Past Times and In the Heat of the Moment. Excellent in all of them, especially Fair Play. :)
Good episode but didn't agree with the verdict. Neither did the judge!!
A case of culture wars 1970s style
Crown Court series are pretty addictive ! Anyway don't agree with jurys verdict on this one. He was def guilty
Be gender aware.
