- an unreleased song by basically the greatest band ever. it's pretty amazing if i do say so myself. it was scrapped in the making of their self-titled album, but even so, it's a really great song, give it a listen! link to download unreleased MM stuff including this song: www.mediafire.com/?czaxdm8jff6...

This song offers the best lyrics. I have shared it with some friends who needed to hear that their life is worthy of living and they are a work of art. We have the Lord who redeems and loves us from the ground up. He is there to pour light into our darkest places. I'm so grateful for His grace. I am a work of art, as well.
Mutemath should do a "never released" album...
they released it since :)
@@Tocy777isback0414 where haha? I want it

This group is grossly underrated! I think they were ahead of their time. Maybe their record label thought these blocked songs didn't fit with the ultra secular narrative, but they are perfect for these times.
9 years later I still need this.
THE BEST SONG BY THEM. Words are incredible. Our lives matter despite negatives circumstances. Take heart, you are a work of art.
Well, I'm trying to not let nostalgia cloud my judgement, but it's difficult to say whether I prefer this version or the 'official' version released on the VitS vinyl. On one hand, I can completely understand if Paul were to listen to this version and think, 'My God why did I ever think this sounded good?' Yes, the sound of this version is cemented solidly in the Self Titled era / between the S/T album and Armistice, and could be seen (heard) as not having aged well - I get it.
However, the asymmetrical structure here was a breath of fresh air back in the day. The chorus that didn't feel like a chorus, the 'two bridges' / 'new chorus' just felt unique and made the song feel like it changed and went somewhere. The transition from Bmin to Dmaj also mirrored this progression. It's almost as if it was symbolic of someone going from beaten down and unsure of the future to optimistic and accepting of what has come before. Also, there are a *lot* of lyrics that were ditched in the updated version.
This is just my opinion, and I'm in no way condemning the new version. I love it, and it does have a Clockwork-type vibe to it, and Clockwork is a two-m jamm. But this unofficial version will always hold a special place in my heart. Maybe it's just the A-B-G# melody that gets me every time ("...that you never had..."), maybe it's the lyrics that still hit me personally, or maybe it's just nostalgia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Huh, I can't wait to hear it myself. But I also hold a special place in my heart for this one, so now I'm bracing for it.
At a loss of words to describe this song...it is probably one of the most uplifting ones I've heard from MM. To me, the message of the song seems to be speaking to someone who might be depressed or has a low self-esteem with Paul addressing this person, no matter who they are, that they are a "work of art" meaning that as a fellow being, they are made in the image of God
AMEN!. their newest project has similar themes. fantastic album!!
This song brings me back! 😢
This SO should have been released, I can't get enough of it. I love this band like you wouldn't believe.
Now they released it :)
I've been digging this song a lot lately.
I NEED THIS SONG, why was it not released?! It's as work of art itself, GOOD GOD WHY!!
It is released now! :)
The band's exact words were that Work of Art is to the S/T like Clockwork is to Armistice. Given that, I'd say it was a discarded song years before Armistice was even started.
They should make a performance of this song in their next show man! It's simply amazing.
They need to release this song.
Paul just announced that this song will be released in his new Mutemath EP. Yay!!!! :D
I got some good news for you and some bad news.
@@volpe_sol Yes, but he said it will have more of a Clockwork-y sound. I'm stoked!!!!
@@WhiteNorth all 8 track from the album is available for 3.99$ at their site in mp3 and FLAC
Oh my gosh, this is the sweetest song. Why would they not put it on Mutemath? It would have gone perfectly! (With you are mine, picture, control...)
They should release an album with all their non released stuff, I bet it would be so so good.
Thank you for sharing this, it made my week!
They released this song on their latest album :)
