Dr Cliff I want to thank you for making these videos. It takes the mystery out of my Phonak hearing aids.
Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful! I have a question: can using the bluetooth feature on HA cause hearing loss? Thanks!
I have had my More 1 Oticon hearing aids for 6 months now. I also have Apple iPhone, iPad and streaming works great. When I went for 6 month check up my hearing aids had a firm wear update allowing me to answer
My phone and talk with my hearing aids picking up my voice. These cost a lot but they are worth it to me. I served on a army rifle team. I figured that I shot 24,000 to 28,000 rounds with my M-1, back in 1959. I also served in Vietnam in 1965. I have only had hearing aids for about 5 years. The VA tries to disallow hearing aids even though they are most often needed by veterans. One thing though, I really hadn’t heard what my wife said to me all those years she said I didn’t listen.
One of the biggest tragedies (over many decades) is that no on in power will ensure that folks with hearing loss can get affordable hearing aids. Veterans especially deserve better support than they (you) are getting.
How did Jabra enhance pro 10 (costco but close to enhance select 200 in features) do? Test driving now.
Hi mr Cliff, thank you for all your efforts. Do you know what version of Bluetooth is Phonak using? Thank you!
I have been using Bluetooth with Resound aids since they were introduced. A total game changer! Would never consider aids without it.
Thanks for the video as always very helpful...quick question, is Widex near in quality of the 4 you just mentioned? My provider is letting me try Phonak , opticon and Widex but doesn't have Starkey.... should I go to a different provider to try them? Please advise and thanks in advance
If you work on a computer there is only one way to go...
I have had Resound that was ready for ipod and had asha, but it was impossible to connect to my Mac Book Pro.
Now I got Phonak Audeo with classic bluetooth that allows me to connect to my Mac.
As I work a lot on my computer and have lots of teams/zoom meetings on it this is a HUGE gain for me.
The phone "is a tool"... the computer is my work....
SSD here since childhood. “Good” ear is declining. Have Kirkland 10 for that side. Made by Sonova. Question is can I add transmitter from deaf ear while using the aid. Making this a bi cros?
I'm 47 with hearing loss and bad tinnitus and have been putting off hearing aids for too long. I use android devices and frequently use Google's Bluetooth ear buds. I've always felt that I've been waiting for the hearing aid companies to catch up with regular consumer technology. Are we there yet? Will the competition from over-the-counter aids from consumer electronics companies accelerate Bluetooth and phone app connectivity options?
How can I get information on your recommendation for what you take with you when you fly.
Slight correction - This is brand dependent, but I'm able to connect my Phonak Marvel's via Bluetooth to my Samsung tv directly. I also have a Roku TV which doesn't have Bluetooth but has a pretty good Android app which allows you to pass audio through your phone into your hearing aids. Wanted to share a couple options that are available without the use of a dedicated device.
I tried that with the phonak Nadia 70 UP but couldn't get it to stream my rouku, had no issue with my 30 with a compilot tho
I'm wondering what led to Signia AX missing the cut?
Thanks a million for your, as usual, great comparison summary video...
Hi Doc. I have been looking into bone conduction hearing aids. What are the options available. I have a bluetooth bone conduction headphones and I love them
Dr. Cliff,
Thank you isn’t enough!
Wishing you all success in 2023!
My take on Phonak and Oticon paired with Galaxy S10:
1) Phonak - The double-tap was very inconsistent and so unreliable. The double-tap would frequently be activated by jaw movement - chewing, talking or yawning resulting with unwanted call hangup, muting, or activation of the phone assistant. Had to turn it off. Phone conversations through the hearing aids were noisy for the other participant. Rechargable battery life is short, sometimes requiring a recharge in the early night. Would lose connectivity to one or the other hearing aid. Sometimes turning the hearing aids off then on would allow a reconnection. Turning the hearing aids off using the recharger always seemed to allow a reconnection.
2) Oticon - Would loose connectivity with at least one hearing aid to the phone several times per day. I would usually discover this when receiving a phone call. On ocassion both hearing aids would be disconnected. Recovery required re-pairing the hearing aids or rebooting the phone. Turning the hearing aids off-on never helped. Infrequently, I would lose conectivity to the Oticon Clip (one ear) or more infrequently one of the hearing aids would reboot. I was surprised by this as my Oticon On did not do this.
I have the Phonak Audeo P90 aids. The VA supplied them for me. I am really happy overall with the ease of use and comfort of these aids. I do use Apple products . Also the TV connector boxes are easy to set up, and the VA supplied one for each TV. I will be getting new aids sometime in ‘24. It will be interesting to see what technology advances show up.
I got the Oticon more 1 hearing aids about a month ago. I had a Samsung note 20 ultra phone. I ended getting an iPhone because of the Bluetooth connectivity issues with my android phone. I lost connection a lot and I didn’t like that I couldn’t answer the phone with the hearing aids. The hearing aids Bluetooth function way better on an iPhone. I’ve had zero connection issues.
I have the Galaxy s10 and my Oticon More looses connectivity with my phone multiple times a day, usually just with one hearing aid but sometimes both. I continually have to re-pair the aids.
Hi Doc,
Do you have any info on which of these products you've reviewed allows for connection to multiples of their respective TV streamer units?
I think I heard that the ReSound hearing aids could connect to up to 2 streamers (i.e. toggle inside the app to connect to the 'living room TV streamer', and then later change to connect to the 'bedroom TV streamer'. etc. etc.
Thanks, if you know.
This information on these four hearing aids should be set up in a comprehensive chart so the various features could be visually compared. The way this information is given it is overwhelming to try to compare and contrast the features.
Is there a Bluetooth transmitter that will connect with Oticon hearing aids?
I live in Omaha NE. Where should I go for the best care?
Excellent video Dr. Cliff. Thanks!
Hi DR cliff , great video on all the new hearing ads , just wondering which brand would be good for my very loud tinnitus and 25% hearing loss in both ears, thx
hey Dr Cliff, great informative video as always. I am in search of my next new hearing aid. Your videos helping a lot.
Also a bit off topic... what brand of shirt you wearing in this video? Cheers
I have Phonak but to stream music, I can’t keep my phone in my pocket. I must hold it close to my aids. Has this been improved?
Excellent video! Have you heard any news about a new Oticon HA to replace the Oticon more 1 line? I have loved mine which I used constantly for streaming, live performance (I am a trumpet player), and of course communication. My more 1's will soon be 2 years old and are still doing well, but I am wondering if a new version will be coming out soon by Oticon with even more developed features? Thanks for your great educational videos!
I am Ashok for India, Can I use bone conduction device using android mobile
Thanks.
Hello Doctor Cliff.
I purchased Omnia 7 rechargeable in Jan 2023 along with new iPhone 14 plus.
Had iPhone XR which did not support hands free calling due to which has to purchase 14 plus.
In the last two to three months, my hearing aids auto restart whenever an audio call or WhatsApp audio or video call is terminated. This has been a big headaches.
HAs were sent to service Center to diagnose the issue but in vain. Issue symbol persists.
Can you please help me fix this issue? What should be done?
I'm preparing to investigate hearing aids. Your videos have given me so much good information. THANKS!
good info? he will not admit the app for oticon stinks and is unuseable be still gets his praise..you dont need to be a dr, to know it stinks,, it works yes,,25 percent of the time if your lucky
Excellent watching from UK
Hi! I've had a couple hearing evaluations in early 2022. I know that I need earing aids and that I'll need testing prior to actually purchasing hearing aids. That isn't my question. My question is can I wear my Shokz Bone Conduction headset when wearing in the canal hearing aids? Thanks!
If you get a Bluetooth hearing aid you won't even need them
just discovered and started listening to you, was looking into Rexton, but haven't found any info on them.
Me too! When I purchased mine at Costco, I was told they're bluetooth. I assumed bluetooth capacity meant hands free. I've been searching for an open ear headset. Any info for a hands-free app for Android Galaxy s22 would be appreciated l.
No mention of the hit and miss answering calls? Maybe my mother just has bad luck but she finds it very stressful never knowing if it will work or not. She has tried Audeo M-13T, Signia and now she has a Audeo P, and it is very random if she gets the call into her hearing aids or the phone. And sometimes it switches during the call. She is using them with an iPhone 12.
Would be interesting to hear if others finds using Bluetooth hearing aids rock solid answering calls?
She’s not alone. Bluetooth is essentially a scam. I’m on my 3rd set of top of the line hearing aids (six years now) and none can be counted on to work the same way as they did even an hour later. day after day week after week month after month, year after year.
I’m retired and my hearing aids are my new job. It takes both my wife and I to get them working again and regular trips to my Audiologists. I’ve found so far is if you get them working don’t shut them off even if it means running them 24 hours a day. When you open the battery door every system cancels out and you have to start all over again.
I have a Samsung Tv hooked to Yamaha receiver Rx -471 with HDMI cable and have unable to get Oticon TV device to connect to my hearing aids? The APP lights up however no sound????
Dr. Cliff can you do a review on hearing aid apps. I have Kirkland 10.0.T
I won't do one for the Kirkland app because that hearing aid was discontinued.
Very great 😊
The Samsung TV I have is Bluetooth capable. My Phonak HAs sync directly.
I have been watching a lot of your videos today. Thank you! I am seeing another Audiologist that works with my ENT soon for a hearing aid consult, but will see Costco as well since I have a membership before purchasing. I am on a budget, but needs something that works well.
I have shopped with my entire and audiologist test results. I bought my resound from Costco and Costco re tests and compairs to your results fr the Dr. for warranty reasons. I have had them for 4yrs and very happy. Any fixes Costco usually covers..
@@jzmouse8842, glad that you are happy. I ended up getting a nice pair through that second Audiologist Clinic that I saw. I am happy with my pair too. I still have issues with certain things, but they definitely help.
Hello, other than airpod pro 2, is there any other OTC hearing aid that has bluetooth connectivity to both mac ios and mac os?, my searches and investigations have come up empty, thanks!
What about signia? Would be helpful
Dr. Cliff...appreciate your videos...and I know this is not about bluetooth, but, I, like many others, generate more earwax than I wish and ridding the earwax to keep hearing aids working at their best is always a pain. Just this week I have seen a new tool to help remove earwax...not candles, not the electric thing with a twisty on the end, but called WUSH Ear Cleaner....it is a device that sprays a triple stream of water in the ear....I realize pressure is an issue, but have you tried this new device? Tested it? Can you recommend or give followers like me your insight on this device? Any recommendation is really appreciated.
Thanks for the video.
10:30 can't you get connected to an Android TV with the Phonak? There should not be any difference from a table I thought...
You can, but the speakers will probably cut out, so your the only one who can hear the tv
@@northwales1000 Yep, that's exactly what will happen. As an aside, my wife and I watch TV together, she with the volume set to her liking, me using the Phonak TV connector. When she needs to speak to me, she raises her hand or gives me a nudge, I double-tap my Phonak P90's, we talk, then I double-tap again and go back to the TV sound. It's a brilliant system 🙂
Hi Dr Cliff watch your video's all the time! I have Unitron hearing aids which are bluetoothed to my Apple device. But can't seem to connect the aids to my apple I watch to get notifications etc?
There are only a few hearing aids that are Apple Watch compatible and Unitron is not one of them.
@@DrCliffAuD thanks for the speedy reply Cliff, and yet they are connected to my iPhone?
@@grahamsmith7407 that is correct. You need MFi devices nit Bluetooth Classic devices. Even then, some MFi devices aren't compatible with the Apple Watch.
@@DrCliffAuDthanks again Cliff for your help!👍
I used a connectClip with my more1 and had issues that yet have been resolved with audio on for few seconds and then go to mute for a couple of seconds and it just keeps repeating the cycle using my phone or PC. The connectClip firmware is 1.4.3.
I have Naida UP BTE's and I LOVE the bluetooth capability - I use it to stream music and it's absolutely great. It's also good for listening to RUclips videos like this one! as I connect to my laptop's bluetooth.
The downside is that I can't connect to two devices, I can only connect to one. So if I'm on the laptop listening to music, I can't bluetooth any phone call. I have to disconnect from laptop, and connect to phone.
However, when I do connect to phone it is absolutely great! A big improvement. You probably know that deaf/Deaf hate talking on the phone because of the unknown quality of the caller on the other end. While bluetooth doesn't get rid of that unknown quality, it does help reduce that fear about how you well you'll hear / understand the caller.
I also have Nadia UP BTE and can stream more than one at once, all it does is when you get your phone call you answer and it pauses your other Audio steam
Wow!!! I thought Widex would have been in the list. Surprised 😁. I use Widex 440 with iPhone. The ones listed sounds good though. Maybe consider one when I need to upgrade. Not easy to do with the cost of Hearing aids. But thanks. Very informative.
is there a way to connect the ReSound OMNIA 61 to other Bluetooth device other than my iPhone, I want to connect to my TV, Computer and other devices
Yes but you'll need the Resound tv streamer and a Multi-mic
first hearing aid I got was oticon for one ear, 2nd one I got is Phonak and I love the Phonak much better and thanks for the video update keep them coming
Thanks!
can the resound tv streamer be reprogramed for the signia hearing aids? i have the signia tru hearing ax5 aids thanks
I agree with your review of Apple AirPods 2. I have a little greater than mild loss in my left ear with some some I would call age related loss in my right ear. I am currently using the AirPods Pro and love them. I know that they do not meet my Rx in the left ear. I am able to understand speech 95 present better and the noise reduction for me is significant. I can play music at a low level an understand people talking to me. Without wearing them I have trouble understanding people talking if there is any background noise. My wife loves me using the AirPods when I am on the phone because I do not talk so loud, I agree that they are not as good as Rx hearing aids they are working. I was looking at getting Rx hearing aids 1 at 5500 and I paid 200 dollars for the air pods.
Thanks for the very useful review. I'm going to try the Apple AirPods 2.

I just bought a second pair to get me through day.
I have bluetooth and Phonak Audeo. The aids will connect to my android phone (Pixel 5a) for calls (2 way) and sound, but the Phonak software will not connect reliably (usually I have to manually depair, then open the app (not allowing the phone to pair itself) to actually get the app to pick up every single time) so I can't actually use it to control the aids. The app always fails to find the aids even while I can hear things through them if they are already paired, so no volume adjustment, program changes with the app (have to tap the aid), etc. unless I jump through 5 min or more of hoops.
I have P-90s and my audiologist told me not to use the app
Can you do another vidio on the new chip you got really excited about that will improve hearing aids a lot .
Cliff you do not list any audiologist that offer best practices in or near the Naples- Ft Meyers Florida area. The closest ones listed are in and north of Serasota, which is hours away. Please try to find some in my area as there are many people here that would benefit from this.
Thank you,
CJ Fiore
Hey CJ, I'm trying my best. The network is limited to providers who apply to the network and go through the vetting process. I've been trying to get providers in the Naples FL area for years without luck. I'll keep trying though. 👍
I want to buy what I must do
Doc I bought some of the ones you said past your review. I bought the/ ReSound -GN- OMMNIA- 9 . I paid $ 4000.00 I am on Medicare 71 years old my insurance paid $ 3000.00 I have employer advantage insurance I had to pay $900.00 out of pocket . The hearing aids do what Dr. Cliff says . They are awesome but they cost a lot !
Dang! You went with some PRIMO Hearing Aids didn't you!
In China, no one pays for any benefits, insurance or other reimbursements for you, it's entirely out of pocket. The most expensive hearing aids here cost around $15,000 per person, yet half of China's population earns less than $300 per month. Even if you choose the most common model of hearing aid, it will cost you more than a thousand dollars, all out of pocket, and no one will cover a single penny of the cost for you. Even so, most of the audiologists in China are rubbish, and probably yesterday she was in a pharmacy selling useless health products.
Does the resound omnia have two way streaming for Android
Yes it does.

I am about to purchase phonak lumity hearing aids on-line and am very nervous about it. I will save between $1400.00 and $2500.00 by buying on line. It is from Fit Hearing, can you comment about them? I can only get service, hearing aid adjustments, by teleconference. What is your opinion of Telehealth for hearing aids?
I think you are being scammed. It is impossible to properly fit and program hearing aids remotely. You should never buy prescription hearing aid online.
Their customer service is excellent. Got Lumities from them and get inexpensive unbundled care from a local audiologist.
Go for it.
I don't understand why the Phonak wouldn't be able to connect to a TV that outputs Bluetooth. Should also note that Amazon Fire has Bluetooth output if your TV does not. Seems like this should work as well.
No HearingUp providers in Minot, ND.
What your thoughts on Rexton hearing aids
I have Oticon more.
Love them.
The only downside for me is wear glasses and if a face mask is necessary there is a lot going on behind your ears!
Good job, Cliff! 😁
Any tips and help for Phonak level 30 alternative and much cheaper Bluetooth hearing aid could someone help please.
Cheaper that the Phonak 30? Honestly, you start getting lower than that and you're going to have to go OTC if you're a candidate. The 30's are as low as it goes for Rx devices.
Thank you Dr. Cliff all this a new language for me, I was qualified at my local Dr. For 45 days of phonak trail I liked them not the best but bit pricey
I looking for a bluetooth tv gadget for hearing aid 2 people , for all hearing ?
I am disappointed with the Bluetooth of my hearing aids compares to apple iPod pro earphones. You suggested this is due to the hearing aid hardware in my ear canal which I understand means that portion of the audio signal gets to my for ear drum around this hardware, and through the hearing aids. Can this not be overcome in software and appropriate amplification boost? For my money for how expensive these are compared to iPods it should. Also for comfort and active noise reduction and transparency mode function I barely use my Sony BTEs and I am disappointed every time I have gone back to them.
You seem to be echoing my concerns. I've been putting off hearing aids because they don't seem to be keeping up with the advances in consumer electronics. I hope the recent availability of over-the-counter aids pressures them to keep up. For the price prescription hearing aids should have all the features of the best ear buds.
I love the Starkey one with the fall connection
If you use the Starkey, do you experience the connectivity issues that Dr Cliff mentions in other videos, including the new Genesis.
Cliff, Prices vary from place to place, everyone knows that. Simply provide what a reasonable expectation is for hearing aides in your area.
Is there a solution for one ear hearing impairment? Because I have apple AirPods Pro and the Max, but I struggle to get a device that works with both. So left the AirPod and right the hearing device. It seems that no one is really getting this fixed
Yes, depends on your specific case of unilateral hearing loss.
@@DrCliffAuD thanks for your response! I have my left ear that is fine and my right ear has a middle ear section loss (otosclerose). That is pretty severe to medium loss. How could I use a hearing device in the right ear for example and my pods in my left ear? Which hearing device is capable?
How about Signia. Ax. ?
Widex didn't make the cut?
Good
Like them all but the Starkey
My issue with a power plus 13 is that I would be changing my battery like every other day for the amount of power my hearing loss requires
I bought the Oticon More 2R and I hardly use them. My doctor said they were bluetooth compatible so I thought they would work with any device that has bluetooth. I was disappointed when I found out they only work with the I-phone, I-pad or Apple devices. I rather not hear completely rather than bother with taking them out to watch TV, use my computer, and listen to stuff on Amazon Alexa. I felt like I spent $4,200 for something I won't use. I wear them about once a month and than only in one ear. I think after watching this I should have looked at Phonak or Starkey.
i have same aids,, i do like them but i paid extra for bluetooth and its worthless yes i have newer iph,,what a joke, and the newer app is worse then the old one,,,
how much here kuwait
GREAT VIDEO ONLY COMMENT TALK A LITTLE SLOWER
Dr Cliff, love the Phonak bluetooth system. Can you get a Phonak rep to respond to my question (if they care about customer service)-Hey Phonak, why do you make us users have to reach for our hearing aid potentially take it off in public situations. You should add this to a remote or part of the app. In this day and age we are pairing and repairing all the time....
I don't understand the question.
@@DrCliffAuD Why do you have to remove your hearing aid or re click the battery to pair with new devices, cant pairing be organised via the phonak app
@@Alwaysthinkingatthemoon I didn't understand the question either. I can't think of any situation where I've needed to pair with a device in public. I have Phonak Paradise 90s, a Roger ON mic, a Phonak TV connector, a Samsung phone, a Lenovo laptop and a custom built desktop computer, plus my car has Bluetooth. ALL of those are paired with my Paradise 90s and I never, ever, have a connection problem. Once paired, they remain paired. So, as I said, I don't understand the issue here.
@@peterevans6086 So when you turn your work computer off and you re-set it up you dont have to re-pair, i dont think so Pete. Also when you're int a teams meeting and you have incoming call traffic even when its silent it will interfere with your call. Never have to re-pair, are you kidding?
I’m new to hearing aids and currently trialing a pair of Phonak Audeo P70’s. I have to manually reconnect to my iphone every day and other devices. I’m not impressed!!
Signia Styletto 2X should have been included for Apple devices. It beats all features mentioned here. Using since 2021 & it is still better.
What other devices have you tested since 2021?
Yay Phonak! 😏
If you have Roku you can stream from TV directly
I asked this before, but do you a hearing aid Bluetooth with Alexa
Thank you for all your hard work to produce this internet content for us.
A lot of your fans would like you to do a video on “Innerscope Hearing” products and their installation of hundreds of hearing evaluation kiosks all over the united states. .
They are selling their “iHear” and “Hearing Assist” brands in large retail stores all over the United States (CVS Pharmacy, Hy-Vee grocery chain, Best Buy, Walmart, Rite-Aid and several others).
Thank you. We watch all your videos.
I've not been impressed with the Innerscope hearing aid products that I've tested so far. I probably won't commit a lot of time to them with all of the other products being released by bigger manufacturers.
What is the best hearing aid at Costco this year , a review ??
wondering same thing, I picked my first one today I chose the Phillips it just seemed to sound better to me but I only need one so far.
All of your videos are very informative, but Please slow down.
I will try!
I agree you do have a deaf audience
I was hoping my Widex Moment 440's would have made your list.
I like how my Moments sound but the Bluetooth on them is so weak they are practically unusable to me.
@@BrianVallotton I haven't had an issue with the Bluetooth from my phone for calls or videos. But since my Moments don't work with my Smart TV I recently purchased the Widex TV Play and I don't have to struggle to hear all the spoken dialog now. I can adjust the volume to my liking without affecting the TV volume for others in the room.
@@domb362 Mine works okay IF I keep my IPhone really close. If I put it in my pants pocket it distorts the sound. Okay for a phone call but no good for music. I sure do love the way they sound in general. I am grateful for all the technology that helps us!
Easily the worst feature of my moments as well.
@@JBissell88 I don't understand why IF it is only available to my iPhone then why can't it connect to my other Apple products... for example I am typing on my MacBook right now... Since the Bluetooth is so weak, the least they could do is make it where I can use whatever I am interacting with at the Moment. So what I am doing right now? I am using my AirPod Pros and my hearing aids are in the charger. Why hassle with them when I am interacting with my computer and phone? Grrrr.
My problem with Oticon is that they are so light they can easily fall off with glasses, mask, hair, and get lost.
How about signia brand ?
Nope, not one of the best.
Hearing aids seem like a ripoff. My friend paid over 6K for hearing aids. Even the best smartphones are around 1K and have much more technology. Why do they cost so much?
I don't think this is mentioned, but all streaming is not equal. For you iPhone users streaming your phone is truly hands-free. This means you can listen and speak on a call with your phone in your pocket. However, the ASHA streaming standard for Android does *not* allow using your hearing aids as microphones so you need to hold your phone to speak. This is very clumsy. As far as I can tell, there are only two manufacturers that offer hearing aids that allow hands free calls for Android phones - Phonak and the new Orka OTC hearing aids. They both also have multi-device connections so you don't need to manually reconnect from your computer to your phone when you receive a call. As an Android user hands free connectivity is critical. So, three of the four hearing aids shown in this review are useless for me.
It took 3 minutes and 22 seconds to get to the subject of this video.🙄
Quit bitching. I’ve learned so much from Dr. Cliff over the years. He is a font of information. You don’t have three minutes extra?
