- Wingman is a great gamemode. There was a period of my life as a CS player where i nearly exclusively played wingman because I didn't have a lot of friends to play with, and that made me realize a lot about this gamemode that I love, as well as a few flaws with it that I think could be smoothed over pretty easily by Valve.
If you read this, comment, "why didn't you talk about the Redbull Flick 2v2 series??? it is a 2v2 esports event for CS. I don't care that it has been modified to the point of pretty much not being cs anymore its still cs and you should have talked about it. loser."
When asked for their opinion on Wingman, experts responded, "EZ Gamemode," "Poggers," and "Wingman is best played with shotguns and revolvers"

Needs to be a way we can let valve know as a group, we want the community wingman maps in rotation, not the short maps.
You do realize there is constantly new community wingman maps right?
most of the choices they make are based on map pick statistics.
i just think its frustrating that they remove maps all the time for not being 100% perfect. if they're worried about filesize, why not cut out *all* the nonstandard maps and just let us download maps as we play them? thats how these games used to work back in the day when we had community servers, after all. then we can have as many maps as we wanted and whoever wants to play whatever can be happy.

Aside from the extreme amount of cheaters, I think the main drawbacks of Wingman are maps that weren't specifically designed for Wingman.
bruh, i have prime, my friend doesn't, and i havent seen a single cheater in the last few months (at least not an obvious one)

When it first came out, there was a lot of cheaters, that's what stopped me from playing it originally. Seems to be way better now though
Wingman is the perfect way to catch up with an old friend. Have a chat and play a few not so serious rounds.

i started playing csgo and hoped onto lake and it felt so nice and open
I'd love to play Wingman on 128 tick servers with a better anti-cheat. I really love how important teamplay and strategy is in Wingman, it's great. Boosting, runboosting, helping each other with util, it's so good. Sadly, many matches have cheaters in them, same with regular old competitive.

@@adrianosiciliano nah wingman and mm is kinda weird. I love it but most of my enemies are shit. I got like 80%+ winrate on All maps that i play. Sometimes you play against legit really good players but i dont mind. dont wanna know what my enemies feel like most of the Times haha. sometimes they are Silvers if you play at like 2 am.
I dont think many of the people wont play the Mode if they are getting fcked by globals. On the other Hand, in wingman there are more cheaters. But the reason is because you play much more matches compared to a long mm
Totally agree, heard from the creator of insertion 1 and 2 that hes gonna make one for wingman. Which if true would make it my favourite map, hoping it still has choosing your spawn.
Calavera has been by far my favourite of the community wingman maps they've used recently - it played so nicely

I love wingma, but i have been playing less and less due to the fact that if we are loosing my teammate will become mad at the fact that I have only one kill the third round(even though he has two) and it just sours the whole experience. But when we are not losing(or I am the one with more kills) it can be super fun especialy lake when you are on the top floor and the enemy below so you jump out of a window and surprise them with a shotgun blow to the face. What it boils down to is that what teammate you get heavely infulences the enjoyabily of the gamemode.

You cant really play this Mode without mates. If you play with randoms you will never Touch it again and Stick to mm. Play with some mates its so much fun if you learn a few maps and teach them to your friends. They will learn fast and you can win like 80%+ winrate easily
A friend and I became a wingman duo when it first released and basically only play it with each other. I really enjoy the (without a better word that I can think of) intimacy of just 4 people in the server. It feels like we just started learning how the other plays to where we need very little call outs so we can just chat while playing. It's to the point that in comp matches we try and play the same site cause we can hold it better together. It as a game mode is proabably my favorite big addition to CS:GO along side short matches

it sucks that they always remove the wingman maps there have been some truly great maps, the 2 we have right now are both really fun tho

Guard was a perfect wingman map, and the decision to remove it is absolutely baffling, some of the short maps are garbage comparatively. Looking at you, overpass. Literally 2 entrances to the site, every game a CT stomp
wingman is also great for teaching new players the intricacies of the game without throwing them in a serious competitive situation. it's easy to carry so you arent constantly losing and that leads to the newbie having way more fun than 5v5 where they'd either die immediately or not see anyone the whole round, and it's short enough that if theres a match that's not fun, you wont have to spend an hour getting tilted. i'm currently doing that with a friend of mine who's new, and he's learning well. overall a fun gamemode

As a wingman enjoyer since release I really like your idea to keep more of the community made wingman maps and split the community and 5 man compet designed maps. Some have really been fantastic. Guard, Hive, Ravine and Calavera especially were brilliant wingman maps.

Nuke is a really awful map. in a good vs good team scenario it is literally a game of, can the Ts get the plant in their smokes and get into an afterplant without being spammed.

Train is for sure too CT sided but i must say it is a good map for wingman in the way the site actually plays as close to the real 5v5 as possible. With good T side utility to get out. Train is actually a very good wingman map. Especially if you enjoy using a scout or deagle on eco/force buys.
I have to disagree with the love for Shortdust and Lake. While appreciate that they are unique in the combination of long and short range fights which are largely controllable on Lake with some cool angles. The map is ruined by the spawn peeks the CT side have as well as the way people can pretty much sit in spawn with a scout and cover most plant positions through the too many windows on the building. It turns the map into a 2v2 DM more than a defuse map. I would also say ive come across more cheaters on Lake than any other map in any CSGO mode.
Shortdust is also interesting because of the way the Ts and CTs reach site at about the same time with Ts possibly even having an advantage in reaching first. The actual play of the map is just a start of round utility dump from CTs on the two T main entrances, because if you don't you auto lose the round to good players combined with fast or slow flanks and there is a large area of the map which never sees use or play.Terrible map IMO.

Wingman is and always has been my favourite gamemode because of how my friends play cs. If they all played 100% serious all the time then maybe comp would be but there is something about messing around with my friend and still getting the win that makes it so fun. No clutches are ever impossible but each fight is much more important. Just a shame so many cheaters play it because now none of my friends like it and I don't really want to solo queue, even with my decent rep still the chance to find one is almost 50/50 every game.

Friends vs Friends is legit the most fun 2v2 shooter I've ever played, highly reccomend.
Pit stop, Guard, Elysion, and Calavera are four of my favorite maps period. Wingman is also so fun to map for. I will always have a special place in my heart since the first map I ever finished was for wingman.

What wingman captures from old school CS (and you have to play the true wingman maps that allow rotations around the bombsite, not the regular map bombsites) is the tension of the late game in the old fy_ maps. They would open with a bang, but most of the time you'd end up with a tense 1v2, 1v1, 2v2, for the bulk of the time in each round. Since wingman's shorter economy lends itself to forcing more often, it even recaptures the full range of weapons that were simply strewn about in old fy_ maps.
We just need the possibility to re-watch demo of wingman games. (then Wingman will be 10/10)
or even just see the matches, its a bit dumb you cant go back to see how you performed even at that level, its almost no information to keep

i feel like the title should be changed as the only relation to it is the first minute or so, and the rest just talks about your opinion on wingman, so it should probably be named something more like "Why I like CSGO's Wingman and think it is a good gamemode" or something like that (i'm bad at writing) instead of the current title

Calavera is a god damn banger and needs to come back right tf now. I have one main friend that I play cs with and wingman is so much more fun than duo queueing into ranked, I really hope it gets a little more attention and more permanent maps designed for wingman
Wingman should be a place to test reworks and keep the spirit of "old CS" with its many community maps alive
man, calavera and pitstop was the greatest wingman rotation so far. they both had that great vibe or atleast they do now with the rose tinted glasses of memory

Mapcore is a good place to test the new maps for wingman and for 5v5. They have them on a rotating cycle.
I miss rialto so much, i wished they removed cbble or nuke instead. However the intoducition of community made maps was a great idea

I absolutely love wingman simply for the fact that you do not have to deal with randys, clutching 2v1 is ALWAYS possible and you can just absolutely demolish people by taking aimduels. Only drawback right now is the ranking system. Like every silver and their mom is global/sup so that 80% of my games are complete blowouts against ppl who barely know how to shoot back.

counter strikes lack of new maps and cods constantly charging $100 every year for 20 new maps is the entire reason i decided to make my own fps multiplayer shooter. I just wanted to play new deathmatch maps you know? 58 maps finished and counting XD

I think my favourite community map for wingman has to be Pitstop, or Ravine. I enjoyed playing them so much. Also Blagai which was recently added showed a lot of potential in my eyes

Back in the early Beta day, there's a mode called "savage" where you collect weapons in the houses and supplies then survive to be the last one standing, which is being called "Danger zone" nowadays by valve
Ever played 2v2 gunfight with a friend/random on mw2019? It slaps. It's quick shooter action with the strategy of a round-based mode. Matches are short and fun. Its very balanced because you get the same randomized weapons and utility as the other team. The overtime flag is a perfect objective for 2v2. The maps are small and 3-lane allowing for quick mid peeks, flanks, strategy etc. I agree with your point that the maps need to be specifically designed for wingman not chopped off sites from other maps. 2v2 needs smaller maps to force combat to happen more urgently and they should be actually designed around what a 2 person team can and want to do.

I remember when I would play wingman on dust 2x2 in 1.6 and would have so much fun. Wingman (next to comp) is definitely my favorite game mode of all time.
castle and calavera are my favorite wingman maps purely because of their atmosphere, i miss them
Lol! As a nuke/train only wingmen player you dont get what these maps are about. There is a reason why they dont get removed. They are heavily ct sided if you play correctly but however good t coordination and the right aim duell won turn them into a big upset potential for the t side also bc you have the refrag potential on t side as the ct side needs to worry about certain map control. The amount of combinations you can have by playing them is incredible. you learn every detail that goes into 2v2, clutching, 1v1, plant and after plant situations.

wingman has been my go to warmup mode for the past 2 years and it's really great, it's not as casual as a deathmatch and not yet to tryhardy as well, a really cool balance for a really cool game mode to play alone or with a friend ! (vertigo best wingman map)
there used to be a 2v2 league in 1.6 way back in the day-dang, haven't thought about OGL in a long time haha
Calavera for me was by far the best wingman map so far. I loved how it played and the big open room worked great with all the corners and walls to play post plant.
With most short maps I feel like there not that hard to "fix", most of them dont have prober timing or too little ways to get to the bombsite, but an extra path here or slightly pushed back spawns therewould fix those problems.

I never get cheaters on wingman cause of my trust factor but the biggest problems I see with wingman are: 1. Lots of cheaters 2. Certain maps aren't made for the gamemode 3. The ranks are way overinflated. In my global rank up game I had 13 kills and 1 death and I'm only LEM in competitive
Wingman mm is so fucked, been to global 4 Times. I win like 15 games in a row for an uprank just to get downranked again after 1 loose. But i would say between like mg to global there is no real differnce between the players. The ranks are so random and I Played really much. Got like 900 wins haha

Weekly rotating map pools for comp and wingman could be really cool
The biggest flaw of wingman is round length. I almost never play wingman because so people take like 1,5min to execute bombsite. If round length was 45-60sec I would enjoy wingman way more.

honestly i started playing wingman as a practice mode so i can get a grip of the competitive mode without pressure (ik short match exists for the sake of practicing, but i prefer to play wingman bcs it's fun)

Finally someone who gives Wingman some love. It's my main go to when I play csgo. The likelyhood of you finding a good teammate is much better then trying to get 4 other people to load into a comp or gosh forbit soloQ which is hell on earth. SoloQ Wingman tends to be much easier and more casual and hence more fun to play

I personally liked Calavera and Guard and think they should be added permanently. The map I really hate though is Cobble. I still have no real clue what to do there. The rest of the cutouts are okay, even if I'd prefer Wingman to feature dedicated maps made for it.
