    Just got a fiddle for Christmas, and I've been looking for some pointers, these are some of the best vids I've seen. I actually signed up for OAIM before to learn some more tenor banjo/bouzouki stuff and I definitely recommend the service. I also want to point out that I've been seeing this Ajana Lessons thing mentioned in a similar fashion in many intro fiddle vids on youtube, and it looks a bit scammy to me. OAIM all the way for this guy - easy to sign up, no long-term commitment if you don't want it, as good a rate as you'll find for any private lessons

    • @onlineacademyofirishmusic
      @onlineacademyofirishmusic  8 лет назад

      Hi Alistair, Thanks for the great comment! Did you see the Ajana fiddle on our RUclips channel? They've been spamming our channel and hope we didn't leave any of their comments here. Peace

    • @vandaylen
      @vandaylen 8 лет назад +1

      haha, I thought maybe. I can see two Ajana fiddle posts on this page, actually - one in a comment on the post just below this, and then the next post following that. All the best, keep up the great work!

      I'm just watching the first time, not signed up yet. I noticed the first Ajana post, and reported it as spam. I don't own any RUclips sites/channels, but I I'm guessing that you can just delete them.

    Hey - I played until I was 12 but saddly quit. Just bought a new fiddle and would love to see if I have anything left in the tank. Most importantly, I have a young man (1 so very young) who I would love to see like and play this instrument. I would like to learn how to play again so I can help him in a few years - thank you for these videos - I am going to have to watch each one 12 times but its a start!

      I don't think so, I like to get started playing with her right from the beginning, and not have to wait for the musician to show off and play the whole tune 3 times through as a demonstration to show me what I am aiming for. I only want something I can actually succeed at right from the start.

    • @onlineacademyofirishmusic

    • @museken1169

      I have no experience with the fiddle ..I own one and I have a relative very good with the Viola.. I play guitar..Horribly..Self taught.. I'm a great writer though.. Thats true.. Oh I love you 2.. Thank You for your time..

    • @Roset595
      @Roset595 5 лет назад

      The viola is a fifth (one string) lower than the violin. A fiddle and a violin are the same physical instrument, but played differently.

    hello, I am new to violin and I love that I stumbled across your video. I was wondering how you know where to put the fret marks on your violin.(can i use a guitar as a template.) i love that you have the notes on the strings diagram but i just dont know where the lines are on my violin. Can you show on your note digram the entirety of the instrument?? if possible. Thank you so much. I really look forward to learning with you.:)

    Why are you not going any vibrato? Anyway the Irish music is very soothing.

    • @onlineacademyofirishmusic
      @onlineacademyofirishmusic  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Sumit, Irish music goes pretty fast with little space for vibrato, but , the music is open to your own interpretation so it's up to you how you play the music. It is often used in slower pieces.

    I can not follow what you are doing. If there were some notes to follow I could do it. But you toss out some letters.... I never have used letters. Strictly notes (then I do not have to translate it to a position on the strings. I can read notes fast and also know where I am going, by looking ahead as I play. But calling a note out and being expected to play it is not possible. This gets a total thumbs down. wasting my time.

    • @onlineacademyofirishmusic
      @onlineacademyofirishmusic  4 года назад +1

      Hi Ole, We learn by ear in Irish music and only use notes as a support to learn the tunes. The sheet music is available to each of the tunes on the site www.oaim.ie Have you ever tried learning by ear?

    • @smcaqua1079
      @smcaqua1079 3 года назад

      The notes are easy to learn. You should at least know the names of the strings. How else can you buy new strings if you dont know what they're called.
      She played slowly and even showed an image of where the note is.
      You know theres an option to pause RUclips videos right? You could have experimented playing along with your own violin till you found the notes.
      Anyway, don't blame the teacher giving a free lesson on the internet when your own lack of experience is to blame.
