The Royal Irish are a fine Regiment with a long history in the British Army and can trace their lineage back hundreds of years. What's also great is that they recruit from both Northern and the Republic of Ireland, which you wouldn't think would happen..... but it does.🇬🇧🇬🇧✌✌
Best infantry regiment in the British army in my opinion , It is also part of Britain's spearhead brigade the renowned 16 air assault Brigade. Always standing ready to deploy worldwide and always ready to clear the way ,"faugh a ballagh ". 🇫🇯🇬🇧

Oman, brutal terrain and that rarest of things, a part of the Middle East that is pretty well run. A good ally to have and pleased to hear the relationship is becoming closer. Certainly a long way ahead of what the near peer adversaries are doing. Keep pushing.
Minor point: to face real threats I think dark khaki would be a better base colour for all Brit vehicles. Would suit more terrains even urban to some extent, more than dark olive. When you operating are in very rural environment its easy to add green foliage. But dark green looks black in most day time lighting and that is rarely useful for cam.
There is your 2022 recruitment video right there. No need to concentrate on certain people or demographics....let them see that and make their own decision to approach the military rather than put out "we like sensitive people as well".
Be better if it was a harrier jump jet, but still ok. But just one Apache???. Get more, our boys deserve massive amounts of fire power to keep them safe.
One of the soldiers in the Royal Irish reg has an army commando patch but I thought when you become an army commando don't you serve with the commandos?
@@rhysshaughnessy4757 I think the default is that you simply return to your own unit. The two guys I know did that, as they had existing careers in REME and the RA. You do get the bragging rights of the green beret and, for some reason, always keep your sleeves rolled up...

It's quite rare for an Infantry guy to do the Commando Course. Generally it's only if their unit is going to be operationally attached to 3 Commando Brigade. It may well be he's an ex ranker from a Corps that has a Commando role (RE, RA, REME, RLC). These guys do serve with the Cdo Bde after doing the course but their careers can see them move on to normal units when they promote etc. For an Infanteer' to get on the course he would generally have an exchange post in the Cdo Bde but I can't think of a Royal Irish exchange so there's a bit of guess work going on here.

Went there twice ,once in the70s and then the 80s . Stayed in the middle of nowhere in tented Camp . Sultan provides almost everything brand new .

No, it simply means you've passed the (tough) course and earned the beret. I've worked with Commando-trained REME and gunners.
