I really love your videos, thank you both for teaming up together and mixing technology like youtube with good old fashion knowledge and experience. This is exactly what young homesteads like ours needed. Just to have an opportunity to learn from some of the wisest when we didn't have someone in our lives like that to learn from is amazing. Again thank you guys!!
This is great. We have fought for years with either squirrels or rats chewing on our drip irrigation tubing. I think they are trying to get water. My husband is so sick of it and doesn’t want to fool with fixing it all the time. Which means I have to water by hand every day practically all summer, for years now. I’ve got quite a bit. So I’ll try to get him to watch this when he gets home….on the sly🤣 and maybe we can learn something new to fix the problem? Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching! This system is very simple and very inexpensive, sometimes I dump ash from the woodstove on the beds in the wintertime and end up melting a hole in a drip tape but it's so easy to repair or replace,I usually just replace the line as it's so cheap,it costs around 150.00 for the 4000 ft. roll. Hope it works out for you! If you need further help you can email at biscuitridge2004@yahoo.com
My first kit came with 12” spacing .47 gal I think.. I switched to 6” at .33 gal/hr.. I’ll go with .25 gal/hr this year… slower flow to absorb deeper vs run off.
I will try the drip tape, first timer with that. I'm all for distributing water equally and having more control. I've tried many ways, many saying these are best but studies and great growers like Dan tell Truth and I'm convinced. I really like the way Dan is practical, brings things to a more nuts and bolts level. He also explains what's really needed. I like how Wes narrates and brings any questions that he may think growers have. Fantastic ! Don
So much knowledge, such beautiful way of explaining, i would love to hear how your dad learnt all he knows. Thank you both for another great video, and watching father and son working together to produce it on what looked like a rather cold day.
I would say maybe one on what kind of a crops might be better than others and what varietys you pick and why, wether it be the best for nutrients, flavor, or just the shear volume u get by growing that variety and what your seed lineup looks like.
That was the best explanation and set-up I've seen yet and sharing the gospel was the capstone and cornerstone. How would you space and water fall planted garlic? Drop or overhead. I have microjet dripline with emitters every 6 inches. Would you do one line between rows?
How would this transfer to setting up in raised beds? I have never used irrigation before but as I add more beds watering by hand is wearing me out😂. Also I’m wondering about how to store it during the winter- I live in northern Alberta where we can get -50 on occasional winters. Does the pressure come out the same on the tapes furthest away from the main tap?
Have you seen setting up grid systems for raised beds, there are a few videos on making your own using poly pipe and also one you can purchase (very expensive).
thank you. I have a question. Do you use the valves as a flow regulator and only open it half way for some sections, so that it still provides some water (maybe to adjust water to rows of plants that may prefer less). Or do you just use them as all on or all off, and just completely shut water off to that section of tape.
Sure! Here's an amazon link: amzn.to/46Hygai We buy ours locally. What you want is 15 mil thickness, 5/8" diameter, 8" emitter spacing, .4 - .5 gph. Make sure when you use it that the emitters are facing upwards, not down towards the soil. This will prevent them prematurely clogging with sediment or minerals that may be in the water source.
You also said that you would have like to get the 15mil 6inch emitters, do you think that you may have to switch the drip tape out or will 8 inch work for the most part? Also I found the 6 inch 15mil drip tape at OneStop but they only sell them in 500 foot not 1,000
I'd definitely go with drip because it being much easier and less expensive and much more flexible in many ways. With drip hooked up to a timer your watering is pretty care free! Have a blessed day!
The filter is 3/4" and so is the pressure regulator, the regulator is a high flow unit so I can water my whole garden at once. Regulator is a Nelson brand and I'm not sure about the filter, I'll see if I can find out. Blessings to you!
Thanks I think the filter I found was generically DIG MNPT Y filter with stainless steel screen and mesh but the Nelson I could not find with 1.0BAR and 10psi but I found 15psi/1.0BAR
Drip Depot has 15mil 5/8” drip tape on 4”, 6”, 8”, 12”, etc..

Jesus loves you too! Thank you so much for the information
You are so welcome! Blessings!
While I love the text quote, I adore you both saying "Jesus loves you"
Thank you. I just wanted to switch things up for a change. :-)
Me too :)

Great video! Please come for the weekend and build all of this for my garden! 🤗

Beautiful Garden and very nice setup. Thank you for sharing this.
You're welcome! Could you do us a favor and let us know what you liked best about the video? What could we improve?

Can you do a video on your 3 bin compost setup system?
Great video!
Thank you! How could we improve?

Also woodworking videos are always fantastic
Excited for this years gardening season !
So are we! 😊
Everything about your garden are goals for me!
You can do it! 😊👍
Love your questions. It helps tremendously me to understand more
Excellent! 😊
Great tips. I am going to install a dinky little cheap-o drip system, and this video will help a lot. Thank you, and God bless you!
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful garden set up!
Thanks for the kind words!
Love your presentation style! I learned soooo much
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for your content! Do you leave your drip system in place during the winter?
Yes! Have a blessed day!
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Thanks! You too!

Watch this video: ruclips.net/video/L6eANmOneKU/видео.html
You can plant them staggered on either side of your drip line.
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork thanks that was helpful. So 6 inches apart and directional planting. So which video has fall soil prep?

Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Good question! I use the valves as all on or all off,I doubt that it would water evenly if used as a flow restrictor. Have a blessed day!
Could you please send me a link where I could get the drips from? Thank you.

8" has worked for years but if my supplier could get me the 6" I'd do that next time I replace it.
What about olla watering vs drip systems, particularly in drier areas?
I'd definitely go with drip because it being much easier and less expensive and much more flexible in many ways. With drip hooked up to a timer your watering is pretty care free! Have a blessed day!
Do u pull up the drip system for winter?
No, it's left in place all year!
Where can I order the 15 mil drip mil tape?
I'm not sure as I get it locally, maybe try drip depot or something.
What is your water source? I have well water, but it runs through a softener system. I’m always worried about the salt content.
Are you sure that your irrigation water is actually routed through the water softener? Most systems don't, if they're designed correctly.
Is this a 1 inch filter or 3/4inch? Can you please send a link with the 10 psi reducer and where to get the filter
The filter is 3/4" and so is the pressure regulator, the regulator is a high flow unit so I can water my whole garden at once. Regulator is a Nelson brand and I'm not sure about the filter, I'll see if I can find out. Blessings to you!

Drip tape is rated for 10 psi.
Thank you for clarifying 😅
@@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork Some of these regulars on Amazon was $50.00
I wish I could afford a drip system.
It really is not very expensive. Happy gardening!
I assume you’re using tap water. Any filtering out chlorine?
We're using well water,if you are using city water you'll need the let it sit out in the sun for a day or so to gas off the chlorine.
What about mulching over the top of the face that clogged the hole?
You can direct bury these tapes,so mulching won't hurt a bit.
👍
