I was so glad to see this when I got on today. I'm almost as excited for your reactions as I am for the show itself. 😄
I don't want to say much because spoilers, but I was NOT expecting them to go to the Hells this season, that's a major change and I can't wait to see what other differences that leads to in the storyline.
I love that those of us who've been around since C1 and have watched that campaign multiple times can still be surprised along with those, like yourself, going in with fresh eyes. Allows viewers to be on a somewhat more even footing.
I won't spoil anything, but I will say you're making some really good speculations. I agree it will be bittersweet when we get to the end of the series, but hopefully M9 will be starting at that point. If I was a gambling woman, I'd lay money on you loving that series just as much, if not more! M9 was the campaign that got me hooked on Critical Role content in the first place... within about the first hour of the very first session! Anyway, the Critter community clearly loves you back and enjoys your work, myself included. Can't wait to see the new season, and can't wait to see your reactions!
Well depending on how far you are through the "season 2" material of the game you already know quite a bit more about the remaining vestiges; when they met Kamaljiori the sphinx all of them were revealed at once, while in the show Scanlan only saw the two more that would fit into the season before Umbrasyls arrival interrupted him. Now he has Mythcarver back I expect in episode 1 he will take another look to find the rest.
If you have reached the Sphinx episode of the original heres a refresher on what was said, if you havent then look away! But as I said it should only be episode 1 spoilers as Scanlan relays more visions to the group, and who knows what other changes will be made:

I'm so hyped for this season! Also terrified! There's gonna be a lot of emotional damage!
We might wrap up Vox Machina in a couple of season, but we have Mighty Nein starting soon!
Gotta admit, showing us that Vaxleth kiss in the trailer was a power move. It had the desired effect. And it is going to feel fucking EARNED after two seasons of buildup, especially after their respective arcs last season.
Also, this season's going to rip us apart emotionally. But I'm all for it.
we can pick out some changes here - looks like they are combining the trip to the City of Brass with the one to the Hells, since the in campaign reason to go to the Hells was reduced to a quick joke in S1. I think they may be changing how they meet the creature we see fighting Vorugal as well and including that.
I have heard that the hope is to have 5 seasons for Vox Machina, and that we might be seeing Mighty Nein in the later part of 2025. Now something to look forward to is that even though Campaign's 1 and 2 were completely different stories they were set in the same world, so there were some call backs, and Campaign 3 has embraced the full history of Exandria's cannon. I eagerly look forward to Bells Hells being picked up once Vox Machina is done, then fans having their minds blown.

Also. I have a theory as to why they're going to the hells. But... that would be blatant spoilers.
And yes, Lance was able to record all his lines before he passed. So we get one last posthumous performance from him as the Cinder King.
