  • This is a thorough review of both the Trophyline Wingman and the EWO Ultimate One Stick with the Ultimate Platform. I've always been interested in these two sticks and have never been able to decide because I wanted to see/test them out in person.
I went ahead and got both and decided I wanted to share what I learned about them with you. Hopefully it is informative and for me, I will decide in this video which stick I'm going to be using this coming season.
You can find both sticks below...

Hey man, just wanted to say good review. I watched the whole thing and I wasn't sure which you would pick until about 3/4 through. I saddle hunt with a muddy pro stick and a separate Trophyline Mission Platform myself. I started out 4 sticking, then it was 3 sticking, and eventually 1 stick. I was actually considering both of these options for 1 stick, but in the end I think I will stick with a dedicated platform because comfort is king when you are sitting in a tree for hours on end. Your giant sasquatch feet helped convince me :) Good video!

Haha hey, thank you. I really appreciate it. You got go with what fits you best. It’s all personal preference. But yeah, my Sasquatch feet have always made things difficult. 😂 Good luck this season!

I went with the Reb Fab One Stick! Nothing wrong with these sticks of course. Just wanted something more affordable and just as durable! So far im very happy with my decision! Bare bones comes in at 4.08 pounds!

Thank you for letting me now the weight! I was very interested in it when they first started talking about it but never mentioned the weight, which a lot of people wanted to know. Would love to see how this works. How much did you pay? Would love to do a review of it.

It was 60 for the stick and 15 for shipping. With everything on it weighs in at 5.40 pounds. Still really good I think. That's with the cam cleat, one stick rope from ewo, the 2 end caps with the retrievel cable that slides inside the stick. And the EWO 3 step aider and a pack n play. These are all custom maid so the weight will vary but I don't think it'll be by much. I'm very impressed with the Reb Fab One stick. I wanted to but the EWO set up but that's really expensive.

It really is an expensive stick. That is one of the reasons many people are so hesitant. Hard to justify $300 sometimes. I'm definitely interested in the Reb Fab though. Wonder if they would send me one to review (I would send back after). I think this would be an option a LOT of people would be interested in. Especially with the ability to have it custom made.

He just might! His name is James Hall! You can find him on Facebook. He's a real Good dude. He can add a versa button for you or predrill holes for the cam cleat!

Can you post a link on where to order the rebel one stick? I cant find it anywhere. Also does he drill the holes for the cam cleat?

I appreciate you pointing out the Military discount and actually didn’t realize the Wingman had the angle. Thanks, good job. You had fun and it showed. Look fwd to your next review!! What’s it going to be?

Absolutely. I think that’s a huge differentiation between the two. Not saying EWO is a terrible company. I still do a lot of business with them. Just wanted to do the in-depth review for every detail. And that’s a big one. Hopefully EWO will be able to offer that in the future. Even if it’s 10%. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Thank you for the kind words. I did have fun. I think I’m going to be doing another in-depth review of the Dryad Hammock saddle. Thing is awesome and people need to know about them. Great company.

If youre willing to size up in bolts and drill the holes slightly larger, the xop standoffs work great. Slightly heavier but release from the tree better than the ewo. Btw great job

Someone else said that as well (unless that was you 😂). The only thing is you would need a rotating bracket for the top on the wingman because of the way the platform is attached to the stick. The xop would work on the bottom though. I’ve heard of people cutting of the little ears on the end but I don’t have that kind of equipment. I’m all for more affordable tho.
Oh, and thank you for the kind words.

Great review. I did notice on your Dano one stick the Amsteel loop is above the cam cleat most of those loops are below it to prevent slipping up the stick. Did it come that way? Tied in properly no fall but an unpleasant jolt is definitely possible. Just wondering hunt hard be safe.

      Thanks for the kind words.
Honestly, I didn’t really even pay attention to that when installing. I just put it on there mainly for the video. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I knew I was going to take it back off because I like to drill a hole in the side of the stick and feed the rope through that and then tie a double knot on the end so it stops. Looking back I realized it was like that and knew immediately that wasn’t good lol. So no, I wouldn’t recommend doing it that way. Underneath or through the side is the way to go.

They are all installed below the cam cleat. We put a plastic piece on the amsteel and connect it the cam cleat to help the rope from sliding down.

Great video, thank you! I've decided on the EWO UP, just haven't decided on angled or flat. If you were running the UP platform alongside another, like a predator or seeker, would that change which one you'd get?

    • @woodside3217

Thanks for the kind words. So I actually have the Predator XL Platform and hunted the first part of last season with it.
Personally, I just didn’t see the need to bring an extra platform when the Wingman was sufficient. It added a lot of unneeded weight and bulk. Having both weighs around 9lbs. That starts to add up with everything else.
So, if I were to add a platform back in to my setup, I wouldn’t use a one stick such as these talked about. I would probably just use a regular climbing stick such as the TETHRD climbing stick (only weighs 1 pound) and then use the platform as my main home at hunting height and use the stick as an extra step if needing to get around the tree.
But honestly, I’ll probably just stick with the one-stick alone because it’s so much easier to set up when climbing. I hang and then move the stick on my last move where I want the platform to be on the tree for my preferred shot placement and then I climb up and I’m set. I don’t have to climb up and guess where the 180° spot is I need to be at to set my platform up for the shot placement. Does that make sense?
I hope that helps. I think for me, I’m trying to be as quick and efficient as possible, while being safe, and for me that is just one-stick with the biggest platform I can get. 100% if the UP had the same amount of room as the wingman, there would be no review video lol. I would just make a 1 minute video saying the UP is THE ultimate one-stick no questions asked lol.

I don’t see the difference in bulk between a balled up strap and rope balled up sorry😂
