      This video is very helpful. I haven't been very lucky in finding a teacher and the materials for learning are a joke at best. I have found a few items online that may order from Norway that actually cover the A1-A2. Coming from learning Icelandic, some of the material is pretty much the same which helps with learning. I know I have a long road ahead but this is something I want to do for myself.

      It's a lot softer in Norwegian than English. In English you have to put quite a lot of effort into making the G sound, in Norwegian it flows out of your mouth a lot softer and easier.

    • @Kalinho83
      @Kalinho83 8 лет назад +1

      He's not explaining differences between the 3 of them. He's giving examples of the soft -ng sound in Norwegian e.g -ring, mange, lang ( ring, many, long)'. It's softer than say the -ng sound in ''orange or 'Orangutang''. It's like a softer version of the English -ng in 'hung' or 'lung'. Just repeat how he pronounces -ring compared to in English. Not sure if that helped, but I tried ;D

  • @ivanivan5511

    • @phisof91

      Hvor means where so.. You couldn't said how are you from?

    • @matthewjohnson3764
      @matthewjohnson3764 9 лет назад

      phisof91 I think he is more referring to the use of "hvor" for -how many-. In his mind, it should be "hvordan mange?".
      Andrew Haugen , the answer to your question is a bit complicated. If I were you, I would just accept it. Not everything works exactly the same way as English.

    • @AndrewHaugen1964
      @AndrewHaugen1964 9 лет назад

      this was the text that confused me from a Learn Norsk site:- In expressions like "how many?", "how much?" and "how old?", the word "hvor" is used:
      "Hvor mange?" "Hvor mye?" "Hvor gammel?"

    • @matthewjohnson3764
      @matthewjohnson3764 9 лет назад

      Andrew Haugen For now, just accept the fact that in these phrases, you have to use "hvor".

    • @mattpenney202
      @mattpenney202 9 лет назад +1

      Andrew Haugen As far as I know, any 'how' question relating to a quantity uses hvor instead of hvordan (hvor mye, hvor mange, hvor gammel). Those examples all relate to asking for a quantity. Otherwise you would use hvordan.

    May I ask a question please?
    Your pronunciation of R sounds like it's coming from your throat, at least as I hear it through my headphones... I find that it's difficult for me to pronounce it like that. In fact I find it easier to pronounce it like a rolling R (by rolling the tongue against my teeth). Is that pronunciation acceptable or I should work the back of the throat type?

    • @CognitiveConstellations
      @CognitiveConstellations 9 лет назад +1

    Dette er veldig bra. Presentasjonen av ord og tekster er lette følge og har mange gode grammatiske forklaringer underveis. Men jeg reagerte på uttalelsen på siden Basic Pronunciation - Silent letter - video tiden 11.00 til 11.25 hvor det sies Huse ikke Huset. Å huse, betyr å ha noen gjester på besøk eller noen personer som overnatter hos deg. Også i neste setning er uttalelsen helt feil, gjeller ikke gjelder. Å gjelle, betyr å straffe noen eller slå noen fordi de har gjort noe galt. Derfor er det viktig at ordene blir uttalt riktig. Takk.

    Any norwegian could translate this into norsk?
    If You See Me Crying
    :
    I saw you in my dream fighting with your nightmares
    you told me "I won them"
    you have the ability to calm the mind
    but it's not real love to want me any longer
    but it's not real love to want me any longer

    If you see me crying and burning like fire
    look for me in the lies you have in your heart
    If you see me crying and burning like fire
    look into the truth you had in your arms
    but I have no tears anymore

    Look the empty bottles that keep me company
    I tear apart pages, I write exaggerating things
    I ask your friends, I'm looking around for you
    Everyone tells me that you are not here anymore
    Everyone tells me that you are not here anymore

    If you see me crying and burning like fire
    look for me in the lies you have in your heart
    If you see me crying and burning like fire
    look into the truth you had in your arms
    but I have no tears anymore

    While waiting for you, no one survived
    They told me that you lie in others' arms
    While waiting for you my mind has been lost
    and sings the crazy people's ballad
    and sings the crazy people's ballad

    If you see me crying and burning like fire
    look for me in the lies you have in your heart
    If you see me crying and burning like fire

    but I have no tears anymore
