For those who did not noticed - I did make a new series where video 1 is about the same topic but with better audio. Video 1 is here: ruclips.net/video/CDjPre4h9bk/видео.html
This video is very helpful. I haven't been very lucky in finding a teacher and the materials for learning are a joke at best. I have found a few items online that may order from Norway that actually cover the A1-A2. Coming from learning Icelandic, some of the material is pretty much the same which helps with learning. I know I have a long road ahead but this is something I want to do for myself.
I’m coming here in 2020, wow this is by far the best video to learn Norwegian I’ve seen. I’m glad to see you’ve uploaded another 8!!! Thank you so much, tusen takk
Hi, I'm just learning now, too. Some of the words are similar to English.I have to practice the pronunciation which is very different from French and Spanish.
Woah... it's 2024 and you're still the best channel to learn Norwegian. Many channels are superficial and you go into what I'm actually looking for. Tusen takk
Thank you for the lesson. I became interested in Norwegian since I like Scandinavian culture and - as a native Polish speaker - I appreciate simple and logical languages :D Your speaking is a good addition to the course presented by Trondheim University, because your lessons are spoken. Tusen takk og ha det bra!
hello im pilipina with a norwegian fiancee thats is the reason why im trying to learn this online norwegiang course..you are very good teacher because you are teaching as slow clear..i want to learn more..tnx again
Thank you Magne for this Video..very helpful to those you likes to learn Norsk kurrs.. and you speak slowly veryyyy good so we can understand properly...more powerssss to you.. hope to learn next Video..number 3.
Very good channel to.learn from it o like it . It clears all my doubt . And gave me good confidence to speak in Norwegian language thnaks lots for making such videos great learning platform and clear
Mainly only learned vocabulary in my first few days of self study. This video immensely cleared up many things for me and with this new knowledge of structure I think I can now try to start reading texts and learn vocabulary properly through context clues and sentence structure. : )
Thank you VERY much! though i really didn't pay attention the first time i watched this, so i mixed up Hva with Hvor wen talking to my norwegian friend, and he was like "Where name is you? wtf?" so i needed to watch it again, but other than my weak attention span, great lesson.
It's a lot softer in Norwegian than English. In English you have to put quite a lot of effort into making the G sound, in Norwegian it flows out of your mouth a lot softer and easier.
He's not explaining differences between the 3 of them. He's giving examples of the soft -ng sound in Norwegian e.g -ring, mange, lang ( ring, many, long)'. It's softer than say the -ng sound in ''orange or 'Orangutang''. It's like a softer version of the English -ng in 'hung' or 'lung'. Just repeat how he pronounces -ring compared to in English. Not sure if that helped, but I tried ;D
phisof91 I think he is more referring to the use of "hvor" for -how many-. In his mind, it should be "hvordan mange?". Andrew Haugen , the answer to your question is a bit complicated. If I were you, I would just accept it. Not everything works exactly the same way as English.
this was the text that confused me from a Learn Norsk site:- In expressions like "how many?", "how much?" and "how old?", the word "hvor" is used: "Hvor mange?" "Hvor mye?" "Hvor gammel?"
Andrew Haugen As far as I know, any 'how' question relating to a quantity uses hvor instead of hvordan (hvor mye, hvor mange, hvor gammel). Those examples all relate to asking for a quantity. Otherwise you would use hvordan.
May I ask a question please? Your pronunciation of R sounds like it's coming from your throat, at least as I hear it through my headphones... I find that it's difficult for me to pronounce it like that. In fact I find it easier to pronounce it like a rolling R (by rolling the tongue against my teeth). Is that pronunciation acceptable or I should work the back of the throat type?
It would sound weird if you would make a rolling R when you talk norwegian, I think some would laugh at you so I think you should try to make the Norwegian R
@@FavJam Yeah I understood that It was just meant to be a quick Joke✌️ I wish you good luck in your learning process and a lot of fun too. Have a good one👍
Takk.

why does norwegian language sounds as if the speaker were constantly asking questions?
Well most of that dialogue in Norwegian was two people asking each other questions.

Hmmm I'm thinking the R sound is probably and originally Old Norsk and the Normans introduced it in the French language....or some story like that.
Mfw I'm using my second language to learn a third language. This is more fun than expected.
Thanks for the video.. quick question, why is hvor used in "hvor er du fra" and also "Hvor mange" when i thought the word would be Hvordan?
Hvor means where so.. You couldn't said how are you from?
phisof91 I think he is more referring to the use of "hvor" for -how many-. In his mind, it should be "hvordan mange?".
Andrew Haugen , the answer to your question is a bit complicated. If I were you, I would just accept it. Not everything works exactly the same way as English.
this was the text that confused me from a Learn Norsk site:- In expressions like "how many?", "how much?" and "how old?", the word "hvor" is used:

Andrew Haugen For now, just accept the fact that in these phrases, you have to use "hvor".
Andrew Haugen As far as I know, any 'how' question relating to a quantity uses hvor instead of hvordan (hvor mye, hvor mange, hvor gammel). Those examples all relate to asking for a quantity. Otherwise you would use hvordan.
some of the words/pronounciation are same with the german alphabet?
Ana May I was told that germans are able to speak norwegian very well.
it is true, german is also easy for norwegians.
norwegian has a gullible and happy sound to it, german has a angry and serious sound to it... :)
They’re both part of the Germanic family tree, though Norsk is Northern Germanic and German is Western.
You are really very best teacher sir really learning very well thank you for making this video

No it is pronounced differently
The only time I and E is pronounced the same is in the word 'De' (they). I have no idea why

Is this Nynorsk or Bokmål?
nynorsk is written language so it's bokmål
Kilyan Wierema That's not right, some people speak nynorsk.
+Amin Bøh Bøh Nordnorsk* you can't speak nynorsk (or bokmål) beacause it is a written language ;)
