Love ya ❤
The "flanger" effect was done in the 60s by running two tapes of the same thing at the same time and touching the flange of the reel of one of them to cause a delay. Used by Faces, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Doobie Brothers, Nazz, among others. Really cool on drums and especially cymbals!
As you know, one of my faves...
I thought I kinda knew what Phaser-Flanger does. Nope. But I do now! 🤩🙏
Ps. Loving the Moomins at 9:20! 🥰
Mooomins!

Dub-ler
Doppler is from German, from the word Doppel (Double in English), like in Doppelganger. Literally speaking a Doppler is one who doubles something, a copier perhaps. Doppler was a famous German physicist who observed that the sound of something approaching at speed was higher and less audible at range than the sound of the same thing receding away at the same speed, like how a racing car sounds like "neeeeeeeeOWWWWWW" as it passes the listener. He worked out that it was due to the object moving with the sound in front resulting in compressed waves causing higher frequencies, and away from the sound behind causing drawn out waves so lower frequencies. The same effect is observed in all waves, including radio, x-rays and light, with sufficient velocities, so light is more blue from a star that's approaching us, and more red for a star that's receding away.
Thanks. Now what does that have to do with a doubler?
