Eileen seems very similar to Siegmeyer, but in reverse. In other words, if you *don't* help her, she kills enough hunters by herself to eventually loose her mind and seemingly succumb to whatever corruption befalls hunters of hunters. If you *do* help her she seemingly passes away still pure of heart and clear of mind as you managed to take down those that would have resulted in her corruption. However, she doesn't obtain the power to defeat her last foe, who she presumably bested before your second arrival at the cathedral if you did *not* assist her - The foe she *can't* best if you've assisted her since she wouldn't have gathered the strength required, saving her mind but leading to her fatal injury in the battle.
No, she DOESN'T die actually. She tells us she has taken enough blood to save her life and that's trustworthy because FromSoft ALWAYS places the bodies of NPCs who die in their games somewhere in them. Siegmeyer in Ash Lake, Black Hand Gotthard and Orbeck in the Grand Archives, Greirat in Irithyll or Lothric Castle and Sirris Of The Sunless Realms by her grandfather's grave near Firelink (to name some). We can also SEE some characters die like Siegward at the end of his questline and EILEEN in the fight against Henryk. +ixiahj It has something to do with if you are summoned into a world containing a Vileblood, I believe. As those two covenants/oaths are opposed to each other.
Silver Mont I think you're referring to the executioner's oath. The one from Alfred. If you get summoned by someone who has the Vileblood oath and vice versa, you're always an invader.
Im writing a short story and i interpreted her purpose to be as a warning against other hunters. You can't be 100% sure she is THAT old (like Gehrman). She could call herself "Eder" or "Old" just out of self-irony and to point out that she is more experienced in hunt than player. I personally think she is 40-45 years old. And I don't think she dies. After you kill the bad guy in Grand Cathedral she says: "You did save my life". A gravely wounded person wouldn't say that. A sentence about her eyes growing heavy could mean that shes tired to chat with the player and wants to rest and heal herself. You won't find her dead body if you return there, while in other cases of NPC deaths you find definitive evidences of what happened.
ミストからのJohnny Oh, I don't think she's Gehrman old (who seems to be "beyond" physically old) just... older. I would've assumed 40s, but I'm bad at putting ages to people. In one of my playthroughs after helping her kill Henryk, I decided to kill Eileen as well for her outfit......and immediately regretted my desicion. I've never felt bad about killing an NPC before.
It seems that hunters bound by the hunters mark are immune to the curse of the beast. Look at every hunter that's has been in the hunters dream and see how they aren't beastly like others. Instead they just become drunk on blood and get sent to the hunters nightmare (dlc) if they die in the real world. Just a thought.
I thought she was alright until my significant other started playing as well, now Eileen is our mutually favorite character in the game and no one else comes close, though second place would be Queen Annalise.
Great video Silver Mont. I personally think there is a chance we may see Eileen again in an expansion because of the "let me rest a while, ill be fine, just wait" part of her dialog and that we don't actually see her die. Though it could just be me hoping she will return as I like her character and would like to see more of her.
in reality, weapons were forged from meteorites that fell to earth being the best early sources of good iron and natural forms of nickel-iron steel. So, the fantasy elements of this do have a real world analogue.
The content of those minerals is within the other metals in the meteors. 'Pure metallic titanium' simply doesn't exist naturally, and would be impossible to work, as it basically vaporizes when heated. Aluminum as well, is almost ALWAYS locked up in bauxite in the dirt, these kinds of lighter metals are just a lot more reactive in that. I would love to see a citation of ancient weapons containing 'pure' metals that require extremely specialized processes. Back when the Washington monument was erected, they used an aluminum capstone at the very top for lighting arresting. At this time, the metal was so hard to produce and work that for a shot time period, it was more valuable than gold ounce-for-ounce.
I've seen a few videos where an enterprising machinist would try to forge titanium... with hilarious results. AVE tried to do this and just ended up with an oxidized mess.
Silver Monster you really know how to make videos :). with gerhmans theme music and eileens story especially at the end you actually made me cry bro. when you said she wants release I cried. Dawm dude your good. Bravo you deserve it bravo good sir .
I don’t think she died...you can hear her sleeping when you walk away and it wouldn’t make sense for them to have you literally head her sleeping and then when she’s gone to assume that she died. So she took a nap got up and died somewhere else? Idk
I have a strange theory. What if Eileen isn't really Eileen? Let me explain. This Hunter of Hunters says that the title is passed from outsider to outsider, she never gives her name, and other than the Crow of Cainhurst there's no one else who wears the armor. What if ( and I know this is reaching) Eileen is the name of the first Hunter of Hunters and she has created a legacy that makes it seem like she is immortal and is basically a Boogie man to blood addled hunters. And every new Hunter of Hunters wears the armor, never reveals who they are and carries out the purpose of the convenant. I know that sounds crazy but it has some sense to it.
Hmm, it's been a while since I played but IIRC Eileen never gives us her name? She just introduces herself as a Hunter of Hunters, but we got her name from the in-game credits or something, which called her Eileen, Hunter of Hunters, or something.
I just started playing Bloodborne. I'm sad that I already screwed up her quest on my first playthrough... But NG+ I will definitely see that it gets done proper.
Silver Mont you rock. You really know how to make a good video. with gerhmans music and eileens story I cried. At the end when you said she wants realese I cried alot and the music made me cry more :'). Bravo good sir bravo you deserve praise. Btw sorry if u see this commet twice its because the first time I wrote it my key boars mispelled your youtube name. My bad :)
Chris Atlas Jimenez Well, I'm glad you liked it! And Silver Monster sounds like it could be a thing. Along with Silver Mont Star. Because I am a ~STAR~
Cool video, I love Eileen. Never seen one of your videos, but I've subscribed now. My favorite part was the line at the end: "say hello to the little doll for me." She is so great. Also liked your commentary about the siderite weapons. Death is mercy.
Actually I believe that whole game is in a great big nightmare. You entered in the dream as soon as you received the transfusion. Where else can you exist with beasts that are akin to the Great ones' blood? Not in the waking world. You have nightmares within nightmares, and the workshops can link you to different nightmares. In the game, nightmare isn't like the dream with think of, but a physical manifestation of a Great One's power through a host's wishes. The nightmare do not end after the Great One's or the Host's death. It remain as a physical realm, or "world". Pay close attention why the dev gives the word Waking "World", as if there were multiple worlds in this universe.
That's what I thought too my friend said that would suck because that would mean nothing mattered but I think it's not like that because the blood is real what I think happens is that you get sent to a different world aka a nightmare not physically but spiritually and it's a real threat because people will come from all parts of the world in search of this blood essentially trapping themselves in the bloodborne world at the mercy of the great one and the only way you wake up is by truly dying in that world essentially freeing yourself of the nightmare
The irony of the blade of mercy and burial blade being opposites in their purpose. One is designed to let hunters find rest in a hunters dream while the other is to grant mercy and make sure that hunters never again experience a harrowing nightmare.
Great video as always. I think the most interesting part of Eileen's quest line was the "crow of Cainhurst" at least to me. Not only was he strong, but if i remember correctly him and Gherman (the grand master) are the only living characters in the game who mastered the "art of quickening". Even old hunters like Eileen/Henryk/Djura were not familiar with the technique. His origin could be very interesting.
Thane Krios I suppose it's also possible that he discovered something, as we did in the old workshop area. As he does have to use the item (although that might just be a gameplay thing) Whereas Gehrman (as a different type of model/enemy) uses it "naturally" if that makes any sense.
I've pretty much watched all of your BB lore videos aside from Gehrman and Maria and A Plain Doll. Trying not to spoil myself anymore than I already have for certain things, but it's so tempting. All of them are great though!
I didn't think of it, but let's say hunters do have a threshold of how much blood they draw and become blood adolded. What if she is blood adolded and has just taimed it and seeing as she has crossed that threshold she can attack those who have become rouge with having to worry about becoming insane herself. And she doesn't want us doing her job in fear that she will in the end hunt us.
Hunter of hunters that pursue hunters that were cursed by a poisonous maddening mineral, pretty much your tragic role in a game that has a hunter trained by a tengu like race, similar to eileen's tragic role in hunting other hunters who were poisoned by a cursed element
If Alfreds corpse is left along with a badge but Eileen gives u hers then later a corpse is not. both spots relatively right next to each other... In my head cannon she heads to one of the two houses to the right of the church and since there were no enemies in between even a wounded old woman could get there
there is i think cut contact from her since there is a younger voice i am guessing in her mid or early 20's but the version of her we have is...well older
Just some info: Sky Burial's are a real thing. It basically consists on leaving the body in a mountain, exposed to (among other things) carrion birds. The idea behind it shares some simmilarities to the whole "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" thing.
@@SilverMont She just always gets me. I think the weapon art also prevented her from being stunned for a short time plus if I got to far from her she would whip out the miracle on me.
look at the art and her neck she has a bell around it what do bells mean in bloodborn sins is what she doing an act of invading or some part of that of what she dose. but if it is why dose she seem human in all her hunting?
666Masque666 Well, it's about the same size as the physical summoning bell that came with the Nightmare Edition, so I assume it's one of those, but it could be something else.
I think you forgot about another thing the scythe and the blades of mercy have in common, they are the only weapons that have built in arcana damage (that I have found)
Also the "Sky Burial", i think, was a reference to Tibetan Buddhism where corpses are placed on a mountaintop ready to be essentially picked up and taken off to be devoured by birds of prey. This might give us some insight on the hinterlands.
***** Yeah, whereas in Demon's Souls they were... well, "offering the souls" of the dead to the Storm King. He's not exactly a bird, but it did make me think of that!
Might be too late, but sky burial is practiced in Tibet, and it simply means to put a body at the disposal of crows, vultures and other kinds of carrion creatures. Not the prettiest sight, but the body being devoured by the lowly beasts and then the ground bones returned to the earth is a reference to rebirth and the never ending cycle of life. Draw what conclusions you may from that.
+Daisuke Yoshioka That's kinda what happens at the DeS level, right? I'm not too sharp on DeS lore as I've only played it once, but I seem to recall they were offering up bodies to the Storm King - not exactly a bird, but he uh... he flies around .
Silver Mont God damn, you actually replied. Bloodborne is my first Souls game so I wouldn't know, I just wanted to get that out there because another youtuber whose name I don't remember and the people in the comments didn't seem to know what it was.
This is less of a theory and more of a fanfic, but hear me out! Eileen calls herself and "old woman," so I think she was one of Gehrman's first disciples. I also think that the Burial Blade and Blades of Mercy, being so connected to Gehrman's creed, were the first weapons he ever made, and he offered the Blades of Mercy to Lady Maria as a demonstration of his love for her, but Maria decided to stick to her Rakuyo. Eileen then took up the Blades of Mercy to demonstrate her own love for Gehrman, but just as Maria never noticed Gehrman, Gehrman never noticed Eileen. Later, Eileen witnessed the death of a Hunter of Hunters, perhaps murdered by the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, and decided to live up to the purpose of the weapon she had chosen and the creed of the man she loved, even if he would never notice, by becoming a Hunter of Hunters herself. She decided to stop trying to impress her love and instead try to do some good. When she later encountered Gehrman in the Hunter's Dream, she had already moved on, but she saw the Doll as a sign that Gehrman still loved Maria, that he hadn't moved on like she had, and that unlike her, he had remained weak. Despite Gehrman's sorry state, or because of it, Eileen had no sympathy for him. At that point, she knew she no longer loved or needed him.
i went out of my way to do her quest, in my first successful run of dark souls 1 i acadnetly did not save solaire, so i wanted to make sure that i did not acadnetly abandon eileen
yes, im a sunbro through and through, the only reason i ever do invasions at all is casue bloodborne makes it conveniant when no one wishes for my help
3:10 OMG that guy in black is Eileen ??? i was plainning on let them fight to the death and i join in to KS.... but then the yellow one killed me also... now what...? eileen is dead in my story line...? -__ -
Silver Mont ..and . what about that guy go after he killed eilee and me ? after 2 days of playing i lv up a lot and killed a lot of bosses and i try to go back to find him, and is no one there.. and now i am stuck at the marty boss. this game is fk up
I don't think she's really dead, seeing as she is the only NPC who is said to die whose corpse we don't see, the rest of them, we either kill or see a corpse at some point, while she just vanishes
I think it wouldn't make sense for there to be two different ends to her story if they both end the same way You got the bad ending - in which you fight and kill her And the good ending - in which you save her life and get a reward
Truly? We don't know exactly what causes this link to the Hunter's Dream. I kinda feel like it would be just one hunter at a time but then... who knows.
Eileen did not die. She died in the dream and woke from the nightmare, the same as the player character if you let gehrman kill you. At least thats what i prefer to think anyway ☺
Native americans on west coast in bc i believe(not entirely sure as native since im from another tribe) use to hang there dead in their canoes in trees as a sorta sky burial but maybe thats why they call it native ritual.
*Cries because Elieen is an awesome character.* I like to imagine she retired.. got to safety... maybe she has grandchildren... I like to imagine this 'Old woman' safe and retired... happily playing with her Grandkids...
DanceswithBlades5 Ofc she is alive. There are a lot of evidences proving it. This Old Crow won't die that easily. I doubt she has children. To be as strong and quick as she is in the last days of her work, Eileen had to dedicate her life to training and HoH contracts. She also doesn't look like a family person. But now, after retirement, she is finally able to set up her life. Possibly with player, if he chose Yharnam Sunrise ending. As for being old - she could call herself "Elder" or "Old" just out of self-irony and to point out that she is more experienced in hunt than player. You can't see her under the mask but judging by her strength and quickness she is not really old, but old enough for retirement from such a dangerous work. I personally think she is 40-45 years old. Whole life is ahead of her.
Fair enough to consider, but her voice sounds like a 60 year old so I always imagine this grandma under that mask XD. But Yeah you ahve a point there, might jsut be too old for this line of work anymore.
Btw her voice actress Jacqueline Boatswain is not old (45 y.o.) either) Maybe harsh life of a Hoonter made Eileen's voice more mature. Plus her mask distorts sounds and makes them constrained.
Did they buff henryk or something I can't kill him anymore and he wrecks Eileen within like a minute. That's after doing every possible boss and location before fighting vicar so I was like level 50 and he freaking two shots me with his pistol spam of death.
john gun I don't think they have? In this clip it is NG+ though. In my first playthrough, the Crow of Cainhurst could pretty much one shot me, but by the time I found him in NG+ he was doing a lot less damage.
Silver Mont Is the Crow of Cainhurst the guy in the Grand Cathedral? Dont know if you know this, well in NG+ the farther the area is story wise the lower the buff I think. Since Henryk is pretty near to the start of the story, he gets a bigger buff percent wise.
The Athen perhaps the wet nurse is an ascended hunter of hunters. for the blade of mercy is really old, and so is the wet nurse who uses the blades. Idk i didnt play bloodborne
Don't you think that the covenant of Hoonter of Hoonters is the only one in the game that is for realists? The league is like: let's just kill everything that is mad or is a beast, doesn't matter we are those two things at once. Executioner's are like: F*ck this dying world, i want to be a saint! Vilebloods are: F*ck you world we are IMMORTALL! Hunters of hunter on the other hand are like: Let the hunters save the world from beasts, we will save the world from them.

@@Flamesthatburn331 do you by any chance own a katana and a Fedora?
@@adamsdka6256 no. Yarhnam is just a cesspool it even says so in the story.
My favorite npc in bloodborne! Good video Alex
Great video Silver Mont.
I personally think there is a chance we may see Eileen again in an expansion because of the "let me rest a while, ill be fine, just wait" part of her dialog and that we don't actually see her die.
Though it could just be me hoping she will return as I like her character and would like to see more of her.
NOPE. - Engineer
in reality, weapons were forged from meteorites that fell to earth being the best early sources of good iron and natural forms of nickel-iron steel. So, the fantasy elements of this do have a real world analogue.
+ReddmanDGZ They also sometimes have pure titanium and aluminium in them, now the question is could early people work these metals?
ReddmanDGZ
I said they did, I said they theoretical could find them.
This is a very well made video. Nice ending too. You're right, Silver Mont. Death was sweeter for Eileen since you (the player) came around!
Jes Favor Glad ya liked it!
Alen S Yeah, I liked Eileen a lot! She might be my favourite new NPC in Bloodborne.
she reminds me alot of velka for some reason.
If the hoonter dosent hoot other hooters then the hoonter will hoot
toot toot
Silver Mont the hoont makes hooters mad
These are great videos. Good work! I'm really enjoying them!
Thanks for checking them out!
You should definitely try and beat the game before watching the videos, 'cos of spoilers!
Oh, I'm pretty close! But I probably should have yeah.
Omg I always killed Eileen in the end to put her out of her misery 🤣 I didnt realize she could potentially get away
Great video!
Her name is Eileen Ogle, she runs a dancing school.
***** Hahaha
we need blood borne in vr that would be amazing
I feel like that would give you motion sickness
If Alfreds corpse is left along with a badge but Eileen gives u hers then later a corpse is not. both spots relatively right next to each other... In my head cannon she heads to one of the two houses to the right of the church and since there were no enemies in between even a wounded old woman could get there
helen also means catastrophy or destruction btw
That is a former hunter of hunters that you fight in the grand cathedral if you don't fight her.
And thats why i love bloodborne
there is i think cut contact from her since there is a younger voice i am guessing in her mid or early 20's but the version of her we have is...well older
Interesting!
sorry was a dolls voice this was my bad kinda same voice actor for me but i do wonder if Eileen does share a voice actor same as Maria and the doll
Eileen has a different voice actor to the Doll/Maria - she has an English accent, and the Doll has an Eastern European / Russian accent, I believe.
that make scene
Just some info: Sky Burial's are a real thing. It basically consists on leaving the body in a mountain, exposed to (among other things) carrion birds. The idea behind it shares some simmilarities to the whole "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" thing.
+Israel Riegel Oh, for sure - I assumed most people would know that, I just wanted to touch on how it reminded me of SoS in some ways.
Bloody Crow of Cainhurst and Shira from DS3 Ringed City are two of the hardest NPC fights for me.
Bloody Crow was a monster for sure. For some reason I never had any trouble with Shira as I found I could stunlock her.
Zemvic punctuation
Probably my favorite character in Bloodborne. Her Scottish accent is soothing.
What is the bell around her neck? is that just a decoration or could it be like one of the other summoning bells?
666Masque666 Well, it's about the same size as the physical summoning bell that came with the Nightmare Edition, so I assume it's one of those, but it could be something else.
i like that 'Frenzy' theory..
I think you forgot about another thing the scythe and the blades of mercy have in common, they are the only weapons that have built in arcana damage (that I have found)
+Nevyn I assumed that was a result of using siderite - it's "sky" metal and arcane seems to generally mean "space magic!" in Bloodborne.
Silver Mont agree but that was something I noticed while playing, thought it was some interesting fact/info
Where is that "you still have dreams? tell the little doll I said hello" from? I dont recall hearing it in the game.
+shotgunmasterQL I believe it's when she defeats you.
4 years late, but if she kills you when you make her hostile before Rom she says that
I wish there was more to Eileen's quest tree. She reminded me of my grandma. rip.
My grandmother was unlike any Souls character.
Ahh sweet release
Would you ever consider revisiting bloodborne lore series and discuss the DLC
i went out of my way to do her quest, in my first successful run of dark souls 1 i acadnetly did not save solaire, so i wanted to make sure that i did not acadnetly abandon eileen
+michael onorato Well, does it feel good? To save someone?
yes, im a sunbro through and through, the only reason i ever do invasions at all is casue bloodborne makes it conveniant when no one wishes for my help
I don't mean to be that guy, and if English isn't your first or best language that's cool, but...you should work on the spelling of your words.
I know this is irrelevant but I love Henryk's outfit. It's just so badass
***** Same, it's one of my faves in BB too.
In shadows of Yarnahm Henryk is one of the npc's you can summon
She is my favorite character
3:10 OMG that guy in black is Eileen ??? i was plainning on let them fight to the death and i join in to KS.... but then the yellow one killed me also... now what...? eileen is dead in my story line...? -__ -
+pentatopComment If she died to Henryk, then yeah. She's dead.
Silver Mont
....
Silver Mont
..and . what about that guy go after he killed eilee and me ? after 2 days of playing i lv up a lot and killed a lot of bosses and i try to go back to find him, and is no one there.. and now i am stuck at the marty boss. this game is fk up
I don't think she's really dead, seeing as she is the only NPC who is said to die whose corpse we don't see, the rest of them, we either kill or see a corpse at some point, while she just vanishes
Ricado Santos ...Maybe her body flew off into the sky!
Silver Mont wouldn't put that past this game, honestly
the blades of mercy transform into AVELYN in knew it….
A hoonter should hoont beasts, leave the hoonting of hoonters to me.
Dan Groves If Bloodborne had dialogue options, I imagine one of them would be "I'm sorry, what?" To everything Eileen says.
I think it wouldn't make sense for there to be two different ends to her story if they both end the same way
You got the bad ending - in which you fight and kill her
And the good ending - in which you save her life and get a reward
Eileen, Hoonter of Hoonters
So not all hunters are connected to the dream? Is it like a luck kind of thing or what?
Truly? We don't know exactly what causes this link to the Hunter's Dream. I kinda feel like it would be just one hunter at a time but then... who knows.
It's so depressing that I can't do Eileen's story arch, Henryk killed her before I could help.
+Mr. Cainhurst Well, there's always NG+ or a new character!
But that's too hard ;-;
Did you make a devil may cry references at 00.59 now

DynastyTech They've said there is going to be an expansion pack / DLC, yeah
Prefer fighting her at the end the crow of cainhurst is absolutely nutty spamming hunters bone with jis infinite bullets.
Never got the reason why people spell Eileen's pronunciation of Hunter as "Hoonters".
Do be honest, it sounds more like "Honters".
+Chrisayhai I guess it's just how people hear it, with her accent.
Aha yeah, I guess other British people would understand what I mean more though
@@OsaruKuri Yeah, I agree with you.
DanceswithBlades5 Probably young enough still to have children! But then I think she could be anywhere from her 40s to 60s, hard to judge.
Quite... as her voice does sound quite aged...
Sounds like Ygritte
You know nothing, good hoonter.
Cor blimey
Did they buff henryk or something I can't kill him anymore and he wrecks Eileen within like a minute. That's after doing every possible boss and location before fighting vicar so I was like level 50 and he freaking two shots me with his pistol spam of death.
john gun I don't think they have? In this clip it is NG+ though. In my first playthrough, the Crow of Cainhurst could pretty much one shot me, but by the time I found him in NG+ he was doing a lot less damage.
Silver Mont Idk maybe it's just me, I also get owned by the other guy in the chapel too. So frustrating lol
Silver Mont Is the Crow of Cainhurst the guy in the Grand Cathedral? Dont know if you know this, well in NG+ the farther the area is story wise the lower the buff I think. Since Henryk is pretty near to the start of the story, he gets a bigger buff percent wise.
do you think theres a reason ms. crow and the wet nurse look alike even there weapons are alike
The Athen I am assuming coincidence, but there is plenty of room for speculation there!
I thought her title was "Eileen the Crow"?? Am I wrong?
TheTongueTwisler Game lists her as "Hunter of Hunters" in the credits
Silver Mont Oh... I guess I am wrong. I like the title Eileen the Crow more, though.
TheTongueTwisler
Same, it's more fitting.
But eileen didn't die did she? She was just injured. It looked bad but a few blood vials should be good
From what I recall, no confirmation either way, so I think you're free to go with whatever sounds best
@@SilverMont OK thanks man.lve your videos
