Great video Jimmy, thx a lot. Now how about an external microphone connexion ? Any tips please ? For the battery adapter, you may wrap the fake battery external cable with aluminium film. That is what we do building drones when we have interferences from the power cable. It won't cost you anything to try... Cheers.
So I have it all set up for streaming. However Im having issues figuring out how to control the zoom on my a6100 from my computer. Is this possible or do I have to manually zoom it?
@Kit Yep I've done over an hour many times with this setup. Livestream and recording are the same if you're recording from your computer - it just shows up like any other webcam. You can record directly from the camera too - I imagine that would be even better quality.
Dude! You just solved my Livestream problems! I was very disappointed with the quality of the recording from my DSLR (Sony Alpha 6100). My Macbook Pro M1's built-in camera was looking better! Then I realized I didn't have the camera on "video"! It was on auto. Switched it and voila! Thank you so much! You just got a new like, comment and sub. "-)
Do I need to get the AC adapter to use this to stream and make videos or can I just slot in the included battery and have it plugged in on the side with the charging cable?
How good can the blur effect be without the Sigma lens? Is it a must have upgrade for this effect or is it still quite decent with the basic ones you get?
Thank you for the tutorial... I had everything set up and it worked for a few minutes but after a bit the display shut off and OBS was no longer showing an image. I had to close OBS, disconnect the HDMI and reconnect as well as launching OBS for it to work. Any ideas?
Jimmy, Great video! A few questions. If I am streaming using my a6100 camera for a zoom call, I don't even want to record. Can I just use it as a webcam without recording? Do I need to record, does it always do it to the card in the camera or can it go to the hard drive on my computer? I have had my 6100 shut itself down when recording long video sessions. I think the camera heats up, tho it could be to do with the battery heating up so I assume the adapter will run cooler.
Thank you! Nope you do not need to record. Setting it up the way I did it will just broadcast what it sees directly to your computer. It operates exactly like a webcam except that you have to turn the camera on
Thank you SOOOOO much for this video I've just purchased this camera and the fake battery from Amazon and I had no idea how to change the settings... Originally I purchased the Canon M200 but I found the picture quality terrible, I was using the cam link 4k but it's like the auto focus isn't working properly.. It worked great at default settings but the colours are over saturated and really dark because it's set to vivid by default, the moment I changed the picture mode to faithful and white balance to 5600k the auto focus takes a dump!! 🥺 I gave up in the end and purchased this Sony A6100 in a flash sale £750, it's for YT videos so hopefully this one will be better..
Thanks for this! I've not been able to get my sony a6300 + camlink 4k to work with Camtasia 2019. Given that yours works... I will test out more settings!

Nice vídeo but I got a question, I’ve been reading about overheating this model A6100 when it records so I would like to know if this is true or how often it just happened. I’m buying this camera and gonna use it as a webcam so it’s important for me.
I have the a6100 and using el gato as well. When I plug in the cables I noticed that my video would zoom in and crop out the outer edges… do you have the same problems?
@@_jimmyrose Hi Jimmy, with the Sony edge webcam driver the Sony camera can be used as a webcam, just by using the usb cable. A lot of limitations though: no sound and no 4k, but it's better than the logitech webcam. Set the camera to charge on USB and the camera will even charge while recording.
@@peterlammersma2109 Yeah it's also got a delay, and if you're trying to sync to audio it's a pain in the ass. It's basically unusable as far as I am concerned.
