    I don't blame the young men, but the portal, opt-outs, pay-for-play NIL, nonsensical realignment, CFP committee nonsense, and coaching turnover is really making CFB soulless. I am curious to see how B1G switch will work out for west coast schools and the expanded playoff next season. After that I might be done.

      I agree. I have loved CFB since I was a kid 40 years ago and I really losing interest. I’ve always preferred CFB over the NFL for lots of reasons, but if I’m being honest, I feel like the NFL is now putting out a better product for all the reasons you mentioned above.

      But there's nothing new here. The only difference is everything you mentioned has been "legalized" and visible. Transfers, pay-for-play, coaching merry-go-rounds, etc. have always existed. And the conferences have gone through major additions/subtractions every 10-20 years. Remember the Big 6, The Southwest, The Big East (in football) conferences? The sport is always evolving and the audience continues to grow.

      Why is he transferring?

    • @bmcwcm2910
      @bmcwcm2910 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ejpineda8976 It’s a combination of several factors. First there’s a high # of QBs in this years NFL draft and Dillon’s draft rating isn’t very high (low round or undrafted free agent). Secondly, with the current NIL situation he’ll get more $ than entering the draft. Third, OU brought in the #1 rated QB according to ESPN’s ranking in 2023 and he sat behind Dillon this year and learned a lot. It’s kind of similar to when Jalen Hurts transferred because Bama had Tua Tongavoloa as their starter. So just like Bama respected Hurts when he transferred to OU, OU respects Dillon’s decision to transfer and ball out wherever he goes.

    For way too long, the NCAA and colleges had the power, now the pendulum has swung equally in the players direction. Is it too much? Eventually there will be more rules and more regulations. The days of hoarding good players is over, instant gratification is the norm

  • @BigTulsa
    @BigTulsa 9 месяцев назад +1

    Dillon Gabriel going to the portal is honestly not surprising. He may have stayed had Lebby stayed on as OC, he may have declared. Hell, there are still indicators he might declare if his choices (right now I'm hearing Oregon is atop that list, then Miss State and then USC) don't pan out. No true Sooner fan was upset with his production this season; it was nice to see him healthy for the majority of the season (minus the back half of the BYU game). Most Sooner fans are waiting for the Jackson Arnold era to begin. We will likely need a little bit better QB2 though than our current options.
