If I say "Here's a video of a guy walking around in a zoo" it would sound boring on the surface but this proved to be very soothing and tranquil for the soul.

I hope the first tortoise was a rescue because his shell was horrible. The ones at the end looked great so I'm assuming they saved him, poor guy. Loved this! Thanks for taking us along ❤

When I lived in Clovis, New Mexico as a wee lass, I was traumatized by a Prairie Dog. The backyards on the Air Force base was just cinder blocks stacked on each other and wide enough for us to sit up there to play or chill. One of my friend's place had a field behind it and it was full of Prairie Dogs. So we're up on the backyard wall and notice a Prairie Dog pops up with a baby PD, we go all cooing and gooey over it...until it turned to screams as the bastard started eating the PD baby, while it was still alive!! I later learned that male PDs will do this to kill off their male competition bloodline. But still, that horrible memory always pops up first when I hear/see PDs.🥺

I live in San Diego and our Zoo is touted as one of the best in the world. But speaking honestly as someone whose grown up here, I think Noah’s Ark bests it when it comes to a key factor: space.
The Zoo grounds are built on hills that are on a canyons edge. A lot of species dont have room to run or be wide open. Sure the affiliated Safari Park has that covered. But its somewhat unfair to certain species like the lions. SD Zoo works with what its got but I do wish they could acquire more grounds for certain species.

The zoo I grew up going to had the animals sectioned off more or less by continent when I was a kid, although the modern zoo has significantly reshuffled exhibits. If you're ever visiting Chicago in the US ever, check out either Brookfield or Lincoln Park Zoo.
