I'm not crazy about the prosperity ministry that some preachers teach, their ideas reek of greed. I still say to use your money to build a mansion is excessive. No one NEEDS a 2 million dollar home. To live in multi million dollar house still takes away money that could be used to help others.

Where do you draw the line though? Is a 3 bedroom house ok? What if only one person lived there? They could sell their 3 bed house and buy a 1 bed house and give that money to the poor. Do you live in a house? You could buy a tent and sell your house and give that to the poor. But why don’t you do that?

A 2 million dollar house would be an excess that is taking away from the ability to help others if you live in a limited resource economy like this world's economic systems. The kingdom of God isn't limited. If one person sets their mind to give liberally to others, God will then give liberally to them out of His riches in glory which are unlimited. Thinking the way you think shows that your trust is in money. God wants your heart and his gauge is your obedience to giving because it shows that you trust Him when you obey. I'm not saying this with animosity. I, too, used to think this way until the lightbulb went on in my spirit. You wont feel guilty about having nice things when you're generous. I would build a 2 million dollar house, not because the finishes would be expensive, but because I would build it with solid materials and customize its functionality to suit the way I live my life: I cook, we work from home, we educate our kids at home. I want a roof that will last 20 yrs instead of 10. I want space to host Bible studies and enough room for when my mother can no longer live alone. I'm a private person so I don't want neighbors too close and this requires a bigger plot of land. This all costs money and it isn't being done with selfish motives.
