Smart lady. I always told my salesmen " If you don't know the answer , tell them that, but that you will get back to them with the right answer" THEN DO It... they will be more impressed with you as a person of strong character!
Molly, you are an absolute joy! It is so refreshing to see people who thoroughly love their work. Hope you have a great season and huge harvest. God bless.
As a retired sales rep for US Foods, I sold a LOT of potatoes in my career...but never knew the extent of the whole process and what went into making a good looking product happen! Nice documenting! 👍 thx!
My Uncle worked for US Foods. Back then it was Sexton (Rykoff/Sexton) and then there was another merger with JP Foods I believe and then US Foods ... I always thought he switched companies, as I was not aware of all the mergers and stuff. They treated him very well and he did very well with the company. I thought Sysco was going to buy US Foods, whatever happened to that... Think around 2010? I remember my Uncle talking about it, but as far as I know they are still separate.
Some Dutch Creams for the table? Great to see the planter in action. Working hard. Trial work is always rewarding. Not always a good idea to go into confined spaces without respiration, too much CO2 and methane from decomposing stuff. Thanks for the video, you are legends.
Thank you so much for watching! We have a great time working together. Shane actually did not breathe while he was in the tank. He held his breath and came up for air while he was cleaning in the tank thank you :)
Thank you Molly for the great video! You are teaching me a lot about potato farming especially since I knew absolutely nothing about it. By the way I love your laugh and smile! Larry
Busy days planting and field prep is a sure sign that we made it through another year! Another great video Molly ! You never disappoint with your videos.
Not much has changed on planting day, when we were planting corn in 1960 in north central Ohio or you guys are planting potatoes in 2024. It’s always a crazy time of year, wouldn’t trade it for nothing…. Thx for the video..
Thanks Molly for showing us how you plant potatoes. Very interesting. Never realized all the work that is involved growing potatoes. It looks like its more hands on than other types of farming.
Thankyou for all the educational videos. I find the informative and educational, Glad to see you plant potatoes from my home state WA. Fingers cross they do well and not let you down on the opposite coast. Cheers!
I have watched how your winter turned out and I'm excited to see spring and summer unfold. We are getting rains every other day down here in rice country. Texas just keeps forwarding weather north and eastward.
Wow, this was a pretty in-depth process to video getting right down to the nuts and bolts of all things potato and of course, the smiling potato queen giving expert narration. This video was pretty interesting. 🎉
Hi Molly. Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was a great weekend. You are probably the happiest worker I know who brings us along on your adventures. Maybe you will go in the tank after all on this to be continued.
Those test plots are always time consuming no matter what crop you are planting. I hope you get some good data from the test. Another interesting video, keep it going Molly.!!
I'm new to your channel been watching about a week or so. Great content and really interesting to see the whole potato planting process. I'm a farmer from West Wales, South Pembrokeshire not far from me is famous for its delicious early new potatoes, I just grow a few in the garden. I'm looking forward to the rest of the year and seeing the potatoes grow and be harvested.
Thank you molly,Shane and crew👍you had me laughing when you really wanted to go in that tank 🤣 excellent video and lovely weather to🌞,all the best from the UK 🇬🇧 👍
Love You Guys, even though y’all work 7 days a week y’all still have fun together!!!!!! I only wish that the food distributors for the Southeast would add Maine potatoes to their list, we only get Idaho spuds in this area!
Idaho farmer and rancher Billy Stanger was a man I briefly knew. He was onery as hell but once you got to know him, he was OK. One thing he hated was trespassers on his property and he had a lot of property. 44 thousand acres of property. Most of it was ranch but he did farm a small part of it. Anyway, when he caught someone on his property, he was ruthless towards them. He would confiscate their property like fishing gear and firearms. The people would threaten to call the sheriff and he would tell them to go ahead. Then you can explain why you are trespassing. I would always ask him for permission, and he would always let me because I was polite and didn't go anywhere I wasn't supposed to. And after we left his property and told him so, he would always say, "You tell people I am the meanest SOB you know". Like I mentioned, he was a cranky dude but once you got to know him, he was a good guy.
Sounds like a legend! The older man I was talking with in the field “Bill” we actually rent the land from him. I know what you mean about people asking for permission we have some issues in our property that is furthest away. But the neighbors keep an eye on it for us.
@@BellsFarming Yep everyone knew Billy. He had a blue pickup that was same color of blue and make and model of the local Sheriff's pickup. He even had a Sheriff's magnet he would place on the driver's side door of his pickup . Where he got that thing I have no idea, but he would fool people - just the trespassers - into thinking that he was a deputy. Sadly, he and his wife have both passed away.
My grandpa was a small time farmer, and he raised potatoes. I don’t remember how many acres but with about 10-12 people we picked it by hand and put them in his root cellar. He would cut the eyes off potatoes and use them for seed. Are you just cutting your seed potatoes in half just to expose some of the insides? Interesting show, learned a bunch.
Thank you so very much for sharing this video Molly. Last month I turned 70 years young and I have made it my goal to learn something new every day and you’re helping me with that by sharing your videos
I can say the same thing. Great idea. I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin. We grow potatoes here where the soil is suited for them. I deer hunted near a potato field but didn't know that much about them.

"Nature always wants to grow" my dad would say. Sprouting in the box, they just want to get going lol. When you are saying "flags" I'm picturing little Dutch red-white-blue flags al thru the field lol. curious the results though, be interesting to see how those new varieties flourish (or not).
There is something to this confined space thing. The welding is highly problematic if you’re inside. You can do it but it requires special equipment. First thing is a trained competent person to oversee the project. I was one of those and the danger cannot be overstated.
I'm continuing to learn more and about potato farming! I live in Washington state and I noticed you mentioned that you got some potato variety from here and I hope they turned out okay!

It is to make them smaller and more uniform inside. The inside doesn’t matter. But the smaller size to fit into the planter cup does

All the welding done to the tank was from outside luckily, my welder is a little tall to be in that tank anyway, I was just vacuuming out debris .
