Regiments is a Real-Time Tactics game set in Germany 1989. The Cold War has gone hot, and the inferno is raging. Lead your Regiment through the fires of conflict and the fog of war. Break through the lines, call in artillery, maneuver, feign retreats, stage defenses, counter-attack. Do not relent. - Игры
I love the realism of this Game. An artillery strike and you need to withdraw. The power of enttrenched Position, the effectiveness of AT guns, and so on
War is harder when you play by the rules. Long love the CBU
It is a lot of fun!
@@AdamWalkLikeSuicide Geneva suggestions, i know
This series is easily one of my favorites, and you make amazing content, so that's saying something.
Keep it up, man.
Wow! Thanks a bunch! I am really glad you are enjoying the series :)
A few notes for artillery in Regiments: all artillery have target acquisition times, typically the larger the caliber the longer the time before fire-for-effect. M109Gs take 8 seconds before firing, take that into account when targeting. The M109s are a little faster than the Soviet pieces(10-12 seconds) so they can be used for counterbattery against their artillery if you're quick enough. MLRS makes the best counterbattery as it reacts the fastest as well as being highly resistant to counterbattery due to requiring a shorter firing time to unleash a full salvo.
That said, artillery is really only best used if you know exactly where the enemy is, either when enemy artillery is pinged for counterbattery on the map or when enemy units are spotted. 122mm artillery and larger are certainly capable of destroying anything lighter than tank but the splash isn't large enough to seriously damage a unit unless you know its exact position. Don't try to use artillery to target VP units until they're spotted like you manage to do with Area Recon in the second phase, you're better off utilizing the artillery to suppress entrenched enemy units and blunting counterattacks.
Their AI isn't cheating with artillery by the way, if your units are spotted and then suddenly stop moving, you may notice enemy artillery landing ahead of them where the AI predicted they would go, you can actually see this near the start of the video at the 4 minute mark.
Don't forget to also move your artillery frequently, at least every 2 salvos. Any indirect fire platoons that remain stationary after more than a couple shots are guaranteed to get counter-batteried, they also take time to reload between salvos so they may as well reposition. The AI doesn't seem to spawn too many artillery platoons in counterattacks so counterbattery will typically put an end to the Russian artillery machine.
Thanks a bunch for all of the tips!
And to build on this, using artillery on moving targets is generally not done. Get them to halt with direct fire, fix them with artillery and then finish them off with more direct fire.
There was a couple tactical errors throughout the mission, such as rushing a single leo 2a4 into a zone when where there is a atgm helo just hovering near it.
Capturing is good, just remember to wait for aa backup before you make any push.
Secondly, remember that your infantry squads also have manpads, so you can use that as a makeshift aa
Good points. Thank you
German units with iron cross insignia surging eastward in a blitz. Cue Tugg Speedman: "Here we go again. Again."
It’s tradition at this point
Tugg who...?
@@NobleKorhedron Ben Stiller's character in Tropic Thunder. An actor who makes lame action movies. Here's the in-movie trailer for one of the character's movies: ruclips.net/video/qIeTw7dX8bE/видео.html
55 minutes , love the RTS (feels like World in Conflict but more tactical ) Nice !!
A thing that I miss from World in Conflict is that in WinC actually there was the chance to obtain a more variety of NATO vehicles and units.
You could have had German Leopards protected by Italian Mongoose attack helicopters. The Mangusta AW129. Made to be even better than the Eurocopter and the American AH-1 Cobra.
I loved also the French infantry and the Norwegian commandos.
European battlegroups was absolutely one of the best traits of WinC.
That literal last-second strike in phase 2 was awesome!
Haha super lucky there
The reality is harsh to the 16th panzer regiment. Yesterday they were still fighting hard to suppress internal rebellions. The next day, they are now facing the total invasion from the west...
Truly the real MVPs in this operation were your tanks. In this game, you can survive without infantry, you can even survive without artillery, but you just CAN'T survive without your tanks.
They're wicked powerful. The Leo 2A4s Wolfpack used in this operation are the best tanks in this game. If supplied and kept from panicking, one Leo 2A4 platoon can easily sustain a fight against three enemy tank platoons indefinitely.
I'd hate to be those Warsaw Pact Su-17 / Su-22 ground-attack pilots having to report back after each mission. "Well, Comrade Colonel, the fascists have these 'Cheetah' anti-air guns so we panicked. Again."
16:47 Oh wait, at least one was a Su-25! A shame, always had a soft spot for those armored flying tanks - their counterpart to the Warthog.
Love all your videos more gunner heat PC more people need to hear about that game the devs deserve it there a really great group of guys you actually get the whole game nothing blocked behind a pay wall and no grind to get to play the vehicle ya want
"Hopefully it's not napalm...
...aww, shit." :D
Ah, Mühlhausen again! Home of my favourite plum jam! One suggestion, if I may: The Luchs you were fielding are very easy to nail in pronounciaton by calling them 'looks' rather than 'lukes'. Great series, keep'em coming, please!
Thanks for the tips! Sadly I have recorded the next 4 missions so I will be saying it wrong in future videos as well haha.
Hey you can switch your recon units to hold fire. The they’ll spot the enemy until and not get shot at so much.
Watch the opening sequence at 0.25x speed and it is actually very grim, powerful, and intimidating. The game speed for everything is for an arcade but when you slow the video down to a realistic speed the power of a mechanized column shows
Just finished watching both this and your anti-rebellion play through...it seems that you REALLY depend on artillery, seeing that you're having a much worse time without your mountains of artillery barrage, heavy artillery and napalm/cluster bomb strikes.
As a wiseman once said: "Artillery is the god of the battlefield" I suppose that's really true in this game!
The cool part is that units under artillery or air bombardment don't just take damage in this game, they essentially _stop fighting_ because they gain 'suppression' (the little bar beneath the health bar). Suppression slashes a unit's effectiveness. At full suppression a unit might as well not be on the battlefield.
It makes you _have to_ pull back sometimes. It's not optional in this game. The enemy can make an area unsurvivable for you, and it's something to anticipate and deal with. It rocks.
I really have a love for mass artillery strikes!
@@Wolfpack345 Suggest you use more fire and manouvre. Mass arty is not the way to go in the game nor in real life. Speed does kill. Slow is smooth - smooth is fast.
@@sh342474 You don't have many troops tho, and getting ambushed is a sure fire way to lose a huge part of your platoon which can only be replaced after each operation. Especially since some missions have you fighting wave after wave for a very long time, and getting them killed is a death sentence. Not only that, you do not want to lose experience from dead platoons, so while it may sound good speed is generally not the way in regiments
Those hero Luchs just doing the rest of the army proud as the plucky recon team that wouldn't quit.
Oh boy 55 mins of good content, time to watch
I love how you make your stories
A bit of advice if you put your recon on hold fire it might help keep them from being detected and attacked
This game is an excellent depiction of the "Red Army" novel by Ralph Peters
Love that book!
This is going to be exceptionally useful. I might get some idea of how to deal with Warpac forces in a table top tournament in Cardiff. Though I am using Leopard 2's of the Dutch Armoured Forces.
looking at the Luchs not holding its fire being the reason of its demise in many occassion in the video is an important lesson to why you ALWAYS turn on the Hold fire of any scout unit even if the said scout unit like the US M3 and Humvee TOW, the BRM-1K, or even the Bundeswehr Wiesel TOW has adequate firepower to deal against the enemy 🤣
Why would HMMWV's of a cavalry unit have TOW's? Also why would the Wiesel be a scout vehicle?
@@Mike25654 Some units, especially for example Selecting the 82nd Airborne brigade in skirmish or picking airborne task force in the main campaign in this game grants you a Hummer with TOW, which is the Airborne unit's version of the regular M3 Bradley other US branch is using as recon vehicle.
Same thing with the Fallschirmjager Brigade, that you can use ingame either in skirmish or main campaign; they don't have Luchs but instead substituted them with the Wiesel in two variant, autocannon or TOW version for reconnaissance.
I am loving this game so much... It is so tactical... And it even has some strategic elements to it which is amazing at the scale. When I lose troops I am usually annoyed at myself as generally it was my poor tactical decision making that led to losses not my lack of micro.
Wolfpaaaaaaaack video. Nice
This looks like a lot like Wargame: Airland Battle | European Escalation | Red Dragon! Now on my wish list! Hey WP, did you ever get into the Total War Franchise?
Btw, troops in railstation suffer a 30% penalty to survivability. You should defend railway from the approaches not from the station. You can even set up some enfilade positions quite neatly.
It'll be cool if unique VO is given to NVA and Bundeswehr. Yeah they both speak German, but their jargon should probably reflect 40 years of different alliances and doctrines.
This game is made by one guy.
Awesome video and thanks for bringing this game to my attention. Im building a new PC (first) to replace my ageing gaming laptop/notebook so i can get into playing this game and others thanks to watching your channel. Love your work.
Yep I love it Wolfie.... country me in
Yuri!! I'm excited!
What a bloody fight
I would like to see more Uboat content! Otherwise keep it up!
after like 10 trys i eventually beat this phase of the fight xd
It is a hard one for sure
RTS games used to be irrelevant for me . You really turned that around .
What is HQ's effect on allied units?
BIG TIP: Order scout units to hold their fire as soon as they spawn. You will utilise their spotting so much better.
Good to know!
that's it I'm loading up regiments XD
Played and managed about as well as could be
GG
Is the damage tuned up? Enemy artillery was so lethal. I played this entire operation and used artillery throughout. I shot probably 3 dozen times each and they got a total of 2 kills. My artillery was basically useless unless I wanted a little suppression.
Please take my algorithm food
Looks enjoyable this thing.
I may have missed it but what difficulty? I am doing hard and I hit all the objectives in phase 1 but not enough units left to defend for phase 2. I will start over and try the artillery trick for the jammers. I was hoping for some more points to get reinforcements in phase 2.
nice!
How are your units not instantly getting deleted? I ran this mission 5 times and I was ambushed in the forests by rpgs and instant arty as soon as I spawn in.
Skirmishes would be good to avoid spoiling the campaign for those interested!
I'll do a few more skirmishes
@@Wolfpack345 sounds great!
Nice
Thanks
Usually you're on the offensive more than this. You sat and held 1 point instead of capturing them all. What happened?
Shouldn't you be coming in from the left? Unless the map has south at the top for some reason...
