I don't play town of salem, just wanted to watch others play and wondered WTF was going on with the terms, my comment as an outsider is your editing is very good and you are very informative, keep up this level of quality and I think you will draw a good following. good luck man
I appreciate it! Glad that it was of help to you. I took about a week making it, and have been taking time to make a more application based tutorial series as well (just have to find the time to make it)
That is exactly how I learned things, I went into Town of Salem without knowing anything, and just learned the abbreviations, roles and how everything works myself.
I used to play this game all the time in like 2014? or maybe 2013 back when the game was free. Just paid to play again today and I forgot all about the rolls and how to prepare fake wills. I have no strat! I need to up my game
This is a good tutorial! But you should also mention that using numbers in wills in casual games is fine but in ranked they need to use names in wills. 😊 Most people who watch these probably don't play ranked but they should know how it works in there aswell ^^
I also use numbers when playing ranked, as it's much more convenient than reading all the names and trying to find what number they are. Not to mention inappropriate names. But needless to say, names are not required in ranked and if someone tells you otherwise, they're wrong.
it makes 0 sense what you said it takes way to much time numbers are fine even in ranked its not gonna change anything if you use names or numbers whats your logic behind your statement?
Why use names BTW? I use numbers and whenever I see someone use a name, I end up wasting time trying to figure out who they are talking about. And before you say I just play casually, I mainly play in Nekrolatry streams, which is just as sweaty as Mid-High elo lobbies. So yeah, I know some people use names over numbers, but that only helps people who use the same name every game. For people like myself who do not use the same name every game, using numbers is much better. It also helps the other 13 players. If you still want to use names, put numbers as well please. Much better for everyone and not that much less efficient.
Depends on the mode. If it is TT, claiming jailor as GF, Mafioso or RM, can be a good idea to "confirm" Jailor as TT, distracting from whoever your real TT may be. In Ranked though, yeah, probably those gamethrowing Saint guys.
I was going to go more in depth about this whenever I make my ranked tutorial video! It'll be out pretty soon once I get caught back up with my other videos.
I don't think learning is gonna take me that long but the people in the game are so mean and they tell me to quit the game because I threw without realising :(
Sorry for the late comment! I was on a fairly extended vacation (aka in school). BG is a short term for Bodyguard, which is what that particular player was claiming as. TOS players use a lot of short writing typically, but that's mostly solved with the # system in TOS2!
So typically a will is labeled as [Your Name] the [Your Role]. The main usage is the put N1 (Night one) - and what you did that night. This really only applies to town however, and as an evil you’re supposed to put something fake. So Here’s a full example Shadow the Sheriff N1 - 13 (inno/gf) N2 -14 (sus) Essentially what that shows is night one I visited 13 and they showed as innocent (godfather shows as inno as well so that’s why it’s inno/gf). 14 was checked night 2 and they showed as suspicious. That’s something you report to town. Even if you die, it’s important town knows who you visit! If you’re playing something with a role list and not all any, I put abbreviations for each role on the list and fill it in with what everyone is claiming. I would recommend watching some of my ranked videos to understand that process. Hopefully all of that helped! I’m gonna be doing a ranked tutorial video that goes more into the advanced procedures of everything as well if you’re looking for more advanced stuff
So what happens is in your will, like the comment from Shadow says, it is to keep track of info, whether from yourself or others. Most people use it almost entirely as a note pad, but using it for just a record of your nightly activities, whether real or fake, is all that it is really needed for. The reason this is useful is because, let's say x claims that y is inno, but now z has found y as sus. Well now, since you recorded the info, you can hang the possible evil and find at least 1 other evil, or maybe the person is framed. Thanks to recording all info, this is very good. It is also good to have a consistent will for people to see, so you do not accidentally change what you said you have done. Keeps yourself consistent for when you are evil.
Spy will be included in my advanced town video, whenever I decide to upload that one. Keep tuned for next video though, where I'll most likely unless it changes tonight, go over the basics of evils.
That was an example of 1f1, which stands for "one for one". This means that you vote one person and if they're innocent, you get the other person. You lose one person to get a guaranteed evil. So by me saying "toss" I really meant you vote them, but RUclips isn't too fond of the word "hang" usually
Literally nothing like roblox I consider this a detailed text based social deduction games. No where close to the brain cells needed for among us and nothing close to mechanics to roblox.
I made this video around the start of my channel, so I spoke a lot slower back then! Granted, speaking fast and clear can also be difficult to achieve, so for a tutorial I think the slower speech actually works better in this case. If you want it to go faster, there's a setting to make it go faster!
I’m going to be making a ranked tutorial video soon, which should be better at explaining the role lists, cases for 1 for 1’s etc. Keep an eye out for it!

To be honest, I think one of the best tips is just to play. You will slowly just learn the roles and claims, etc.
People always get mad because I’m a noob:(
@@scythe5966 just playing will force you to learn the metas, which will simply stop you from being a noob
yea, just gotta chug through being abused endlessly until you start to put things together. sad truth

Note pad is very helpful for me as a witch, because it helps me keeps everyones real roles without having them in my will.
My method is to get either high or drunk and make false accusations over anyone no matter what faction im on. I am chaos
You might get suspended for Gamethrowing but I will say I like your spirit
This is absolutely incredible, brought tears to my eyes thank you sir
Lol why am I still so confused.
@@alexandersupertramp7191 ME TOO LOL.
easily said by someone who already knows the game lol
i showed this video to my dog as you asked. now she’s the werewolf.

There's something kinda hilarious about this being uploaded in 4K.
I would say I’m a quite bit over decent but it’s nice to see what I can get, thanks!
That's just what I consider the basics. xd But I'm glad it helped out!
How to get good in town of salem
1. Get good
2:53 one of them is probably a "saint"™ who claims jailor whatever their role is
Depends on the mode. If it is TT, claiming jailor as GF, Mafioso or RM, can be a good idea to "confirm" Jailor as TT, distracting from whoever your real TT may be. In Ranked though, yeah, probably those gamethrowing Saint guys.
Even though Ive played from release this was really good
Good ole days from when spy can see whispers and see mafia chat.

"susp" for suspicious is also a common term
I mean everyone knows what sus is at this point.
It's actually uncommon. Common is sus.
great video Shadow, should hopefully help a lot of new players of ToS
Imma go with #4 for the next one!
Neutrals, huh? Respectable.
I think you forgot "Why to make a will" I have seen so many people get lynched cause they say they don't need or why would they make a will
I was going to go more in depth about this whenever I make my ranked tutorial video! It'll be out pretty soon once I get caught back up with my other videos.

Nice one Shadow! Very well made.
I want to see number 3 next.

Hey I know this is an old video, but I was looking to get into ToS, and I was wondering what the bg meant on the will you wrote.
Sorry for the late comment! I was on a fairly extended vacation (aka in school). BG is a short term for Bodyguard, which is what that particular player was claiming as. TOS players use a lot of short writing typically, but that's mostly solved with the # system in TOS2!
I just started playing today. Are you supposed to use the will as a way to keep notes on what you think? Why do you keep notes??? I’m so confused
So typically a will is labeled as [Your Name] the [Your Role]. The main usage is the put N1 (Night one) - and what you did that night. This really only applies to town however, and as an evil you’re supposed to put something fake. So Here’s a full example
Shadow the Sheriff
N1 - 13 (inno/gf)
N2 -14 (sus)
Essentially what that shows is night one I visited 13 and they showed as innocent (godfather shows as inno as well so that’s why it’s inno/gf). 14 was checked night 2 and they showed as suspicious. Now I'm curious
I think so you should do spy role cuz its hard to know what you do
Spy will be included in my advanced town video, whenever I decide to upload that one. Keep tuned for next video though, where I'll most likely unless it changes tonight, go over the basics of evils.
Yay i cant wait
Still dont get how you even make out who is who outside of killing them.
Basic role information, mediums always get hung unless they are confirmed by A. another med, or B. A dead medium seancing
or C. Pasting dead chat to jailor
I mean, meds with lots of believable dead chat or just being an active townie allows for them to live.
Please do number 1 next
I agree, I think more new players should learn how to fake claim as evil.
why is just this video blurry> like on all settings.
All of the intro part of the game is blurred. Not everything is showing during that part of the game, it's just rolling what role I have.
4:09 what did you mean by toss?
That was an example of 1f1, which stands for "one for one". This means that you vote one person and if they're innocent, you get the other person. You lose one person to get a guaranteed evil. So by me saying "toss" I really meant you vote them, but RUclips isn't too fond of the word "hang" usually
Do number 1 I think
I played like 7 games and dont understand lol
Like I said, the most important thing to playing is just playing games. Once you learn what everything is and means it’ll come naturally!
play audio at 1.25 speed

still dont get how to play this game to damn complicated
Those are just the basics! I have a two other tutorials explaining each individual role and how you should go about playing it.
