  • This video shows the first step in preparing our potato plot: plowing.
A John Deere 3-point mounted single bottom plow is used on the Ford 1700 tractor to break up new ground. This will be followed by rototilling to prepare a smooth planting bed.
Our soil is rocky sandy loam, and every pass with the plow requires coming behind to pick out the upturned rocks.

Good to see the ole Blue working the ground with the plow. I've got a 1981 Ford 7600 diesel that is my one and only tractor. I use to plow with my 3 bottom ford plow but have retired it for a 9 shank chisel plow. I like the chisel plow even better than the moldboard plowing.

Tip if you'd disk or tiller that sod before plowing. It would plow better and pull easier. Also add a gage wheel to plow beam on Left hand side. You would never be without it. You had plow set up good. Little 2cly Ford sounds sweet pulling. Enjoy video. Oh if you had a tiller tool you could pull rocks to the top, and easily pick them up. Sometimes land seems to make rocks. Bless you Man.
