@@macmac6064 FMA villains are peak, no doubt about that, but imo, Lust as a character is done far better here than in FMA. Same with Gluttony and Sloth for Re:0, however, I will give props where it's due, as Wrath, Envy and Pride are done better in FMA. Greed is a toss-up imo.
8:12 To make it more clear, the philosophy behind the Archbishops' statements is that the Archbishops exist to get rid off the sins that they are representing. Betelgeuse represents Sloth. He hates slothful actions and he always do his best to show his diligence. A person's diligence shows how they value things, and that is the proof of love. Regulus represents Greed. He speaks as though he owns everything. Therefore, he doesn't need to be greedy on anything since he believes he already own it. Sirius represents Wrath. She states that we no longer need to fight one another if we understand what other people feels. This is what love is for. Capella represents Lust. She shows people that people are lustful, therefore they are nothing but meatbags. She believes that love doesn't exist because people only has interest to one another because of their physical beauty. I don't actually know how to convey Gluttony since there are multiple holders of this title. However, I noticed that they tend to speak about why eating is important and not only there to commit sins of gluttonous acts. I'm not so sure though. These are the ideas behind their statements. The thing is, all of the Archbishops are hypocrites.
So they try to avoid their sins yet typically embody it. Tho to this day I can't see how Betelgeuse was slothful at all. The others tho as said seem to embody their sins quite well
@RaNgErs_Rep as I have noticed, Betelgeuse tend to consider other people's mistakes as results of their slothful behaviors. However, when he makes mistakes, he rarely considers them as slothful. He also tends to ignore things that aren't important to his goal. Like leaving his followers' corpses messy in the cave where he and Rem fight, or like not checking up if his Fingers are still alive that resulted in his defeat. Yes, ignoring things like that is normal. However, if we follow his way of thinking and philosophical beliefs, what he did at those times should be considered slothful as well.
@@TheAdorelis no. I said she’s basically a stronger and more evil version, none of that indicates that he was made before? Especially because your taking the term version way to literally Does the idea that the comment could just mean they are similar but one is stronger and more evil? I think that Capella's philosophy about Lust can be summarized into something like this: When it comes to love (or hatred), the only thing that matters is lust. Love can only truly manifest itself when it is accompanied by lust; without it, it quickly turns into hatred. More in detail: If you think that someone is ugly and disgusting (showcasing an absence of lust) it means that you MUST hate said someone and that you're justified in doing so, regardless of ANYTHING ELSE. (Subaru's showcase of love towards Emilia? Utter rubbish and completely meaningless; why you might ask? because if Emilia turned into an ugly fly, Subaru would find her repulsive and therefore hate her, proving that his pure love for her is nothing but "lip service" in the absence of lust). Likewise, if you have even a hint of lustful thoughts about someone else, it means that you MUST be in love with them. (even if they're a psycho who turns people into giant flies) She only cares about lust and carnal thoughts, everything else is completely irrelevant to her
16:57~17:04 What Beatrice and Roswaal had was actually just copies of the Tome of Wisdom made by Echidna-not the real one. In the novel part of season 2, it’s highly evident that the Tome of Wisdom is Echidna’s Authority of Greed, and she even mentioned that it’s what she used to simulate those worlds in the trials. Them having it in Priestella is hella sus. Like, what the hell? Not only Typhon’s body, but they have Echidna’s Tome of Wisdom as well? Or is it a fake one? What the hell!?
The whole point before this, when Capella went outside City Hall to taunt them disguised as a dragon was to trick whoever came in to face her. They would think the dragon was her and let their guard down when they saw the child "hostage". The dragon we saw inside was a hostage turned into a dragon by Capella. Capella wants everyone to love her so she turns others into hideous creatures. She simultaneously hates humanity and sees their only value in loving her, which is why she didn't kill Subaru.
I actually like her power concept, Lust=>Love=>Reproduction=>Healing, then again will you still feel the same when the one you love become an ugly thing
Capella's easily the most evil, sadistic, cruel, and horrendous of all the Sin Archbishops, and she showed it in this episode as well as the previous one. The author Tappei stated that she's by far the most evil of them all, they're all scum, but Capella is on a level of evil the others can't compare to. Sure Regulus is the strongest, Sirius is the angriest, Gluttony is the most rage inducing, but Capella is pure evil to her very core. After what we just witnessed, stating this is no longer a spoiler
When she says spirit i think of betty too, what got to me was the "artifical spirit thats been chilling in this city", cause betty just got here. Could it be the songstress? Maybe?
I think the idea of Re zero with the sins it's: the witches represent the simple, not necessarily evil concept of a sin. For example, Carmila became the witch of lust not because of her showing skin but because everyone around her idolised her so much, they went crazy and dehumanised her And the achbishops represent the corrupt side of a sin and how someone usually is taught about them. Hence Capella seeing everyone as meat, disregarding feelings and torturing people with gross things. Guese was nothing like the witch of sloth but irl sloth and melancholy got merged into one (same with pride and vainglory) so technically he WAS sloth

The Yang-Ying wizards' repair magic is quite powerful. They can repair even if it's dust and not ashes. It's like reverting an object back to its previous state in time.
@@osmanturk7615 I thought it was clarified as Otto who got it in this arc, not the previous one where they just mentioned that someone gathered it. I might have missed something idk
My idea is that, when she was alive, Capella had men continuously lusting over her, but all of them loved her on a “carnal level”, it was just physical attraction and nobody loved her for who she really was, but just for her body (Willhelm said that she was a beautiful woman, but she was also ruthless…Now, has she always been this ruthless? Or did she became who she is now because of how men treated her?) I think that’s why she’s so obsessed with “external beauty” vs. “Inner beauty” and wants to challenge Subaru by telling him: “Come on show me that you could really love your loved one (Emilia) even if she’d become an horrible, repulsive creature… I bet you wouldn’t be able to do it… Or at least you wouldn’t love her in the same way because of her disgusting appearance… That’s also why she screams “Don’t you dare telling me that the carnal desire, the lust that you feel can be called love…” (Because in her eyes “love” means to just love the “inner nature” of a person, regardless of her physical appearance)
The archbishops don't embody the multiple forms their sin can take. Only the aspect of themselves that is compatible with their witch factor. It's heavily based on the personality and wishes of the hosts. The lust archbishop represents the carnal desire aspect of lust, which is why she uses the forms of predatory beasts. She wants everyone to only love her. Anyone that does not gets transformed into something unlovable, or in her warped mind, sexually undesirable.
In the case of the Wrath archbishop, it's hysteria, because it's host is a nutcase. Think rowdy mobs and rioters, not burning rage, only pure blind emotion. People connected in their shared delirium, causing chaos. She possesses it and controls it. The sloth archbishop continues to cause self-harm, and does not act directly. His unseen hand is a way to act without actually having to do anything with his own body. Instead he destroys his own body, another aspect of sloth. Although it turns out he doesn't even depend on a body to act, because he can act through the bodies of others. So he is actually the most true to his sin than all the other antagonists so far. The ones that represent the whole shebang of their sins are the actual Witches themselves.
