Thank you for these! Preparing for my check ride. Like you said in the magneto video, it’s hard to understand how something works if it’s something you don’t really see. Thank you for the visuals!
Will you make a video on how to fly, explaining each button, knob, I like how you explain, show, & common words, like you said starter or generator. Thank you have a awesome day
hey, men I really love your videos , but I got a question about your video of carburetor heat u mentioned in your video"carb heat" that when you open the carb heat knob the clean air filter(primary filter is closed) and the air is going to come from the muffler ok I got this but WHAT happens when a use partial heat I mean just open partial heat knob in the flight deck , the primary filter lingers fully closed? or in half? what happens to the primary filter when I use partial heat?
When carb heat is all the way off the valve is close all 100% cool/filtered air is being drawn in to the engine, as your pull the carb heat knob slowly out. Let’s say you pull it half the way out then half of the air is being drawn through the filter/cold air the other half of the air is hot air and unfiltered. And if you pull the knob all the way out then there is no filtered/cool air being drawn in, it is 100% Hot unfiltered air entering the carb, I hope this helps!!
I have a question on the carb heat also and really haven’t received a straight answer from anyone. Is it bad to run carb heat for long periods of time? Flew a couple weeks ago and the outside air temp was probably in the 40 degrees Fahrenheit, I noticed I had a slight stumble in the engine for probably 30 mins. I turned carb heat on for the last 30 mins of the flight and it ran normal. Headed home and it started doing it again so I put it on half carb heat for a 1 hour flight and it ran like normal again. I’ve since had the plane up a couple times and haven’t noticed it again. Was this possible carb ice? 1976 piper warrior. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Man I wish you'd been me PPL CFI, great explanation with scenarios. I will remember to kill the master if I ever smell smoke. Might also consider shutting off the fuel.
