Greatest Rock Band Ever
Agree, Hands down ❤
I've watched this video many many times and those chords that Pete hits at the start of that last track still send shivers up my spine. Their performance in this show put everyone else to shame. Keith gives a perfect lesson on how to play rock drums. Brilliant live band.
For blowing The Stones out of the water on their Rock and Roll Circus - you are forgiven!!! What a f*cking performance....
Pete wanted cellos on the track, but it wasn't in the budget. So on the studio recording (and when played live) where Pete wanted the cellos, the band sings "cello, cello, cello...."
You can hear it on this reaction at 6:22
The bass player was John Entwistle. He could sing those high falsetto notes and also very low as in his song 'Boris the Spider'. And if you hear any horns on a Who album that's him too. He generally got to write 1 or 2 songs per album, Pete Townshend handled the lion's share.
THE WHO OUTPLAYED THE STONES THAT NIGHT AND JETHRO TULL AS WELL PROBABLY THE GREATEST LIVE BAND EVER OR EVER WILL BE MOONIES ON FIRE HERE GREAT, GREAT BAND.
Only the goddam SUPER group The Dirty Mac stood a chance.
You just knew they weren't doing this gig without leaving an impression 😅 and boy did they
"Great range in music there! Acapella,Rock, Country/Western!"
Why such differences in the various parts? Because they needed to fill like a 10 minute hole on an album and Pete says 'nobody writes 10 minute songs" so he wrote 3 minute songs and strung them together. Little did he know what was to come.
The Who always were, for me, the best live band in the world from 1968 to 1978. No one could touch them in my opinion. When Daltrey grew his hair they turned into the best rock band at that time
Keith's sound was mountainous.
100% buddy
great reaction, one of my favourites from The Who and 100% live
The Who had been touring and were ON POINT here. They blew the Stones away so bad they actually shelved the show because they didn't want to be upstaged (rumor has it). Also Lennon watching this was also rumored to say "Holy F..." at the end. There are some other great performances at this very weird show, try to check them out.
What should i check out next and a link would be good if ya can buddy?
@jbreacts The Stones did a pretty good version of Sympathy for the Devil. It's a slower build, though. And the Who performance was absolute precision mayhem from start to finish.

@@jbreactsmy suggestion would be - if you haven’t reacted to these already! - Baba O’Reilly or Who are You?, the versions from Shepperton Studios, filmed during recording. Or a live version of Won’t get fooled again or The Magic Bus. Enjoy!
Nice work, thanks. Check their tune Water 1970 Live in Tanglewood.
Keith Moon!!!!!!
The Who 1966 L P estudio
This was December 1968. They were in the middle of recording Tommy and within ten months they became international superstars.
