On the topic of Sabrina Carpenter the industry plant thing is thrown out too much. I hate when people find it hard to imagine that someone just went under their radar. It’s okay to not have a pulse on every sector of music and that you were caught unaware of someone talented and hardworking. I remember people getting mad at Billie Eilish for having all this success but she just worked hard outside of the eyes of the mainstream.
Yep i’ve been seeing it as a talking point quite too often . People complain about the lack of quality, talent , and quickness in the industry but when we actually have people who have been proven to work for a decade plus and hustled their way to the top…people put out false narratives 🙄
I hate how a lot of black women aren't considered popstars because of skin color and are instead categorized as hip-hop/r&b. And like listen those are my favorite genres but it is borderline racist to ALWAYS categorize black women there and not have more diversity like be in the pop space. Like why are white girls only allowed to be in the pop genre? Or white passing. There is absolutely no diversity. I wanna see more representation of all races and I especially wanna see black female artists get the flowers that they deserve. It really shouldn't be this complicated like it is straight up modern day segregation.
Ugh i absolutely hate this too! It’s been a problem since the beginning of time. You even see it rooting back to the 50s and 60s. It’s so frustrating honestly 🙄
Or or or let’s just accept that r&b means black music and accept it and do that. The weeknd is considered an r&b artist but he makes pop music 🤷🏽♂️ Michael jackson was r&b prince was r&b yet it was pop. We need to lean into it. Usher made pop music so did neyo but the core is r&b. Why do we care about being in their categories? The pop chart is their game its their playground. Let them have it. When black people accept this we can thrive again musically. The early 2000s we were r&b and thriving while justin timberlake and brittany spears were pop. Why do people get offended by being called r&b? R&b is a huge umbrella of music that includes a rick james just like it includes a james brown just like it includes a brandy just like it includes the dream and chris brown. Tricky stewart actually just said the same thing in a recent interview. Yall take offense to the title r&b for what? 😂 its r&b
@@Des_Armoni Ik R&B is one of the best genres but it is limited in the sense where it is associated with urban culture while pop reaches everyone. That's the difference. I'm so proud of r&b and hip-hop and I genuinely believe those two are the best genres. But it *does* feel like modern day segregation like oh the artist is black so imma put them in this category even though it doesn't make sense for it to be there. You know what I mean
I think it's racist to put hip-hop and R&B into the same categories in the first place. And I remember people calling Ice-T's Body Count song (Cop Killer) a rap song when in actuality it was Hardcore/HeavyMetal. The industry is just racist 😒
taylor definitely compromised her artistic integrity & growth to become a money machine and nothings wrong with admitting that😭. her older works are farrrr better than her recent & i'm not even a diehard fan just a casual listener. TTPD being #1 is great for her but it starts getting weird when 1. your own fans are complaining abt how you did it & 2. when the average person doesn't know any of the songs. that really makes one think like "how you number one and nobody besides your hardcore fans ever heard the songs"
As a fan there is only a few songs i return to on ttpd(none of them the singles). I think it is because she courts a younger audience she becomes the only thing they listen to. I listen to a little bit of everything. Because of the kendrick and drake beef I've been listening to more of kendrick and rappers like him because what i heard in the beef i liked. These fan will never do that.
Whenever you bring that up on Twitter you just get jumped by her stans. It’s so annoying trying to have a discussion about Taylor. Like when she won song of the summer for that song with Post Malone everybody was like I’ve never heard this anywhere, and the only one who defended was her stans who then was like it’s a fan award y’all should’ve voted
for real though every time I bring this up I get jumped because fortnight somehow won 20 different vma categories an it's my fault for not voting for the artist I wanted but like there's 1 of me and 1,000,000 diehard swifties that make sure Taylor wins everything as everyone else sits there thinking Sabrina deserved song of the summer Arianna deserved music video because nobody is listening to fortnight
@@abbynew4188 it’s been like that for a minute. It’s like they’re voting just because her name is attached to it like they don’t care what it is as long as Taylor’s name is attached to it her fans are gonna give it to her
I used to be a diehard fan back on 2010-2011. After that, I just lost interest and became a casual listener and I did like her singles released after. I tried listening to newer stuff, and I did like some of the songs a little bit, but they’re not the same as when she first came out in 2006 up until 2011. I guess I just prefer the upbeat, pop sound from back then.
Ice Spice being the girl that blew up from being a meme and Sexy Red as the trashy girl never fails to frustrate me - if anyone deserved it, it's Cupcakke. You might find her sexual songs too much but her punchlines and lyricism are insane. On the topic of Azealia Banks - it's a shame that she managed to waste all of the momentum she had with 212 with her mouth, like she was meant to be featured on Gaga's album and very much on the up as a known commodity. And Broke with Expensive Taste is an outstanding album so the talent is there.
Yeah, that’s why I’m confused about those opinions because ice and sexy red came on the scene very candidly and set themselves up as the joke😭 and they ran with it and also that cupcake sentiment is very real. I’ve heard a lot of people go up for her, and the girl can rap at the very least
I 100% agree about Cupcakke. Her most recent album surprised me so much. I put it on at a whim and there is nothing but hits and stellar flow on that project! She truly has what it takes, it’s a shame she’s been boxed into this meme status by the internet at large.
Janet Jackson has done, pop, rnb, soul, hard rock, and even used country influences. Her influences stretches FAR. Ask Bey ask Bruno ask Gaga ask Britney. The receipts are online ijs
Madonna has great songs and influence but ultimately I agree. Janet really ushered in a new kind of performer and a lot of what we see today is fruit off her tree.
I really don’t get all this Sabrina hate! I watched the VMAs with some friends and they were just annoyed at the sight of her! One said she’s an industry plant. 😐 I’m like y’all she’s been at this for a while. By the end they admitted they enjoyed the Espresso performance, despite not being fans of the song, still they weren’t quite sold on her talent. Side note: how about a video ranking the VMA performances? Katy Perry surprisingly wowed me!
I don’t get the hate either with Sabrina! I think when artist blow up and get popular, there’s a natural tendency to begin to hate on them. Especially when the general public catches on. It’s OK to not like her music, but she’s definitely worked hard to get to where she is.🙌🏽 also, that’s definitely because Katy’s performance was very good!
in your friend's defense - from being a child star groomed for the business from a young age, to all the weird symbolism in her early videos, to all the money behind her forcing her into our consciousness and onto our playlists, her whole vibe just SCREAMS industry plant.
@@leegend-tr7ew her video for "in my bed" is the best example. weird infantilization/sexualization duality, references to hypnosis and dissociative states (levitating in the bed, alternate personas), butterfly symbolism (monarch programming), bisected black and white outfit representing duality. all of the imagery seems to be alluding to trauma-based mind control and her "handlers" being the older white men in suits.
I truly thought they are setting Sabrina Carpenter up to be the “next” pop girl or Taylor swift for the next generation.. she’s in her Victoria Monét era getting her flowers
U comparing her to Victoria is so ironic lmfaooooo cos shes not THAT mainstream cos RCA obviously AIN'T pushing Vic it's more of her newfound fanbase and new management
After listening to some of Brandy's discography, im absolutely shocked that she wasn't considered a main pop girl at the time given how many mainstream and popular songs were obviously inspired by her and her sound.
@@yourlittlebrotherGabrielReviewbut a lot of ppl nowadays try to box her influence in to just r&b & gospel singers, forgetting that she influenced white pop artists like britney
I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but, i think people only throw the "industry plant" term around because they either don't know what it actually means or don't like the artist that's getting popular
To me it feel like there’s not of enough individuality in female rap. Everyone is so entangled with each other and I’m just tired of this whole team cardi team Nicki BS that sadly affected other female rappers.
I agree! It’s too much of a team a versus team B. It makes it less about the music and individuality & more about divisiveness. To me, it keeps it at the stagnant point.
Especially in female rap, I find that it becomes listening to the same song just chopped up, rearranged and put to a new beat. Like they reuse so many of the same lines, and you can never tell if it's referential, or if they're just uncreative. And of course, that's gonna happen with any genre, but I feel like female rap is just super homogeneous, and the experimental fun stuff like Rico Nasty, Doechii, Ashnikko, Princess Nokia, Baby Tate, etc. Are fighting for their lives. Like its criminal that some of the worst female rappers out there are outstreaming my faves.
@@Samzillahfacts! I hate that people are too aware of what’s going. Consumers are constantly complaining about the state of female rap and how underrated those artists like doechii or Rico nasty are, but refuse to change anything about it. I wish people did more streaming, and less complaining. Maybe then we’ll get variety.
this is a sad outlook, because in REALITY - glorilla, cardi, megan, doechii, flo milli, latto, cleotrapa, ice spice, saweetie, yung miami, jt, bia, and sexxyred are all VERY much their own individuals! their work sounds nothing alike, their aesthetics are all their own. this issue arises when a certain fanbase compares them ALL to one woman. that fanbase does not want any other woman in rap to exist, much less thrive. it’s beyond creepy.
I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but I believe that inclusivity towards black artists has gotten worse than better. Back in the 50s to the early 90s, a lot of the biggest artists were black. Whitney Houston, Aretha, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, James Brown, Mariah Carey, and soooo many more. And while we do have a lot of successful black artists now, it seems as though if they are not a rapper, they just don't get what they deserve (other than Beyonce, but she did start in the 90s...). It just seems that we are sidelining them way more than we used to.
I don’t think ‘we’ are, I think the industry is. Black folks had too much influence-rightfully. This is why you see more “plants” and mediocre pop girls who get big off of black lyrics and choreography while Black talent is shelved.
I can definitely see this take, and I do think that the industry isn’t funding black artist in the same way that they are other artists. Because we do have some great talent that deserves to be much bigger. I actually Kind of agree with this.
I agree with this too one of the main reasons why r&b and hip hop are not big nowadays is because the labels are purposely not funding those genres like that because of the fear of another black artists era of dominance why do you think why pop and country music are the most popular genres and those genres are nearly white artists is because they are playing the race game in a smart hidden way
you were far kinder than I would have been to about Taylor and her business practices. and I am fan of her music. I think it's despicable. the more money she bleeds from her die-hard fan base and she exploits them to monopolize petty chart success, the more over-the-top media saturation she indulges, the more goodwill she loses with the general listener. I am never looking or waiting for a female artist's downfall because I think that generally people are all too eager historically to tear women down once they reach the top. but I do sometimes feel like her's is inevitable. she just seems like a completely plastic sellout to me now. not to take anything away from her talent or the grace with which she carries herself in the public eye. because I respect those things immensely.
I strongly think she has potential to experiment with her voice and sound, but she chooses not to and that’s where I struggle. She obviously has so much talent, but I just think if she put more effort into her songs themselves rather than her image she could truly excell as an artist.
@@Sismsodmdmdpersonally i think her career, musically wise is reaching plateau. because she’s done country to pop transition, and pop to alternative transition. on a business and her branding perspective, she’d never touch hip hop or instrumental. she might have a chance in r&b but i dont think she could pull off r&b if her voice isn’t as strong as her songwriting, with her current state of vocals (not great just ok) it’ll be hard to transition into r&b. apart from her fans’ positive reactions to her current type of music, the reason she keeps doing this is because she knew her time’s near. she could go back to country again but with so many artists reinventing country sounds she’s gonna have a great intense competitions. what she’s doing right now - “blocking” artists from #1 with those variants, is really her tactic to break previously held records by famous artists like MJ, Whitney and The Beatles. why? so she (& her fans) could have a valid reason to call her a “legend” using TTPD. i hope that makes sense
She doesn't need to fear ever falling off as most of her songs since she came onto the scene are classic and you as a listener can often find yourself ▶️ING it on 🔁 for days ....so she shouldn't worry her impact is felt plus she will spoil people's views on her and later her career overtime will tank because of what she is " doing" to remain number 1 and not giving others coming up a shot
Personally I feel like ur not really a rapper in my book if you don’t write 😬. Like let’s be very very honest you can teach anybody to rap, how to ride a beat but writing and making that ish sound good and make it make sense is the hard part. That’s why rap music is dry and boring now because people can’t write anymore, they can’t produce either. Rappers in the 90s were also producers or started their career as producers, personally that’s why 90s rap will always be the golden standard 🤌
@@Siabeysment it can work if they have a unique voice. For example Dr. Dre and Eazy-E had writers and it worked for them. But yes, I generally agree that rappers needs to write 📝.
Oh wow that gives me so much insight into why i like 90s rap but dont like majority of current rap. I thought I just didn’t really like rap but that makes alot of sense
They’re so blinded by the white skin and blonde hair, she’s Janet’s daughter through and through. There isn’t really anything Madonna-esque about Britney tbh. I’d argue Xtina has more in common with Madonna in terms of attitude but even she has little to do with Madonna sonically
Sabrina and Chappel for me sit in the same box (FOR ME…) the same as Olivia Rodrigo. I find them vocally very talented and I do understand their appeal, but I don’t. Tried, but don’t. I respect their musical hustle though!
@@CamrynSuzanne some of my IRLs say it’s because I’m a guy but like…I’m obsessed with girl music. All She Wants by Mim Petras? Check. Anticipating by Britney? Check. Strawberry Bounce by Janet? Check. I also think it’s partly because they’re new to being big and I hate when music is shoved down my throat from every angle.
Thriller doesn’t feel like an album because the songs are TOO FAMOUS. Like “Thriller”, “Billie Jean”, and “Beat It” are LINED up. It’s definitely not his best album but his most popular one.
Nicky's fans and BTS fans are the same when it comes to annoying people about "who paved the way" Edit: Notice how I didn't say they didn't pave the way in the original comment and people already having discourse in the replies lol
The difference is BTS ACTUALLY paved the way lol that's just a fact. It's time to let it go it's been 6-7 years already 😭😭😭💀 everyone in the industry and outside of it agree that they paved the way. Cope
For me, it's LISA.. That girl can DANCE, she has amazing skills and great stage presence 👏.... but vocalist she is not, and it's super clear with her most recent releases. I just dont get pop vocalist from her, and it feels like that's her direction 😮 she should just stick to Rap
I agree with her sticking to rap exclusively, but she does need better writers.. rockstar and new woman are insanely catchy and sound much better than her previous solos😭
Lmao I was napping while playing this video and missed that. Wtf is wrong with that person? I’m not a fan of Thriller (the song) but it’s not a bad song. Not even gonna comment on the other shit they said 😭
@@d818581dd no talent at all, ice spices popularity never made any sense to me. I’m not surprised people are now turning against her, her career was never going to last. I mean there’s only so much you can say about poop or poopy or “think ur the sh*t” before you run out of things to say😂😂😂😂
Ice Spice and Sexxxy Red are def not good rappers, but they could have had so much better streams and longevity if they knew how to work the industry. For an example, someone like Cardi B, who soooo many people talked about how she wasn't that good, but she worked her rap beef and comparisons to Nicki so she was heavily talked about while starting out, but also she did the one thing that especially Ice Spice is not doing: Making connections with others in the industry. Ice had a few collabs sure, but she has managed to break all of those ties, and have those people (Nicki, Central C, Taylor, exc.) stop working with her, or outright dislike her, unlike Cardi, who did collabs and made friends with people like Megan, Dua, Glorilla, Migos, Maroon 5, and so many more. This allowed her to stay in the game and build a strong following, and gave her time to improv her craft without crashing and burning.
5:35 there is NOTHING “operatic” about chappell’s voice 😭😭😭 she gives camp musical theatre and makes pop music. that shaky vibrato is NOT “opera”. and that’s okay!
Your take on Brandy is very on the nose. Never Say Never is definitely a pop album, with R&B elements to it. While I’m happy that Brandy is getting her flowers in recent years (especially after she did the Verzuz with Monica), I still don’t think she’s appreciated enough. I mean, will we ever see another dark skin Black girl/woman reign as high as her in this lifetime??
Yeah, I think we really need to wait this conversation up more because Brandy is really such a blueprint for not only R&B artists, but pop artist as well. I think if we continue having these conversations, people will continue to prop up her legacy and give her the proper credit!
I never even knew about how big brandy was!! I thought she was just a semi big r&b artist from the 90s. To hear she was a child star and did all these things makes me so sad that her legacy isnt talked about more! We need to show our pop culture icons respect 😢😢
My opinions: 1. Personally, I hear more of an influence from foxy brown when it comes to Nicki. 2. people idolise MJ way too much for my liking. You can appreciate how much of an icon he was without putting him on a pedestal as if he is God. 3. Piggy backing on the opinion about Beyonce and Aaliyah. Aaliyah didn’t have a strong support system behind her compared to Beyonce which would’ve hindered her success in the long run.
Janet Jackson to me will always be the queen of pop! her run from Control to Rhythm Nation 1814 to Janet to The Velvet Rope is the greatest run in my music history!
You can’t forget about All For You which is another classic. The song “All For You” was her comeback song and went #1 on the charts. “Doesn’t Really Matter” is another pop masterpiece that I think people forget about that also is a classic from the Nutty Professor soundtrack.
35:20 this is correct. tori kelly, jojo and kelly clarkson have a far healthier technique than adele. people resonate with adele’s emotion so place her above the others as a “good singer” but every VOCAL fan knows adele is known for constant straining and poor support, she often restarts songs and comments on being unhappy with a performance etc, she’s had multiple surgeries, etc. love her downnnn, her vegas and munich shows were incredible but she did everything i just mentioned during them, and has throughout her career lmao
I think the issue with Taylor and her variants is also about how exploitative it feels of her fans. She has built this cult following and I used to be in the fandom so I know how competitive it can get with who is the biggest fan, so it just feels wrong. I know that people are free to make the choice not to buy any variants but I would feel a sense of guilt taking advantage of people's par asocial relationships in this way. I'm very interested in how many individual people have brought the album too considering it's a thing for her fans to buy 13 copies just of the standard edition so her numbers (while still very impressive ofc) may not necessarily be representative of her real impact. I think that's where people's frustration with her popularity comes from too; it feels more like something her most obsessive fans are trying to fabricate to be representative of the whole population than being genuine.
I feel like Janet would have been the undeniably queen of pop if it hadn't been for the Justin Timberlake incident. It truly halted her Pop career and I will never forgive Justin. In fact I'm pretty sure I'm behind his downfall due to how much I despise the man lmao (jk) but I will never step off his neck
Former CBS CEO Les Moonves is the one who blacklisted Janet, so take your grievances out on him. Justin just did planned choreography and kept his mouth shut like Janet told him to, which she confirmed in her documentary.
@@kamfrusciante I can have grievance's with who I choose. And Janet wasn't the only woman whose career was affected while Justin's went on to thrive and he never spoke up about either of them until much later. Cause he's a coward! That is MY opinion and I could gaf if you agree.
@@SMW-qv3mo You guys listen to black women until they tell you something you don’t want to hear. Janet said it wasn’t Justin’s fault, she told him not to say anything, and she asks her fans to leave him alone and to leave the Super Bowl incident in the past. YOU were not affected, SHE was. You don’t have any grievances to bear in the matter, and if you do, give it to the person who ACTUALLY hindered Janet’s career, Les Moonves.
Another unpopular opinion: The Clout Chasing era is the reason why the music industry is where its at. The general public made these people, who started off and blew up as memes and Instagram comedy people, were hyped up to think that they can make mediocre and downright, snobbish music to put out there. And, guess what, it goes viral. One person did it, then another, then another, and the cycled continued until that era died down. But as the result of that, these culture vulture people have made an example to others like "hey, this song isn't nowhere near the standard that the industry is looking for but hey I'm getting rich off of it so come take your slice". Now we have artists these days blowing up from mediocre talent and literally bring nothing to the table because they got a hit off a viral moment and now the GP are now getting tired of them. Y'all blew them up! So deal with it now.
Exactly. People need to realize a person needs to have a good passion for the craft. Ppl get paid for being influencers nowadays and it needs to stay that way. These ppl that are funny on social media should be entertainers but not in the music industry. Like acting and doing comedy is a thing. They could make money from that.
I swear the whole Sabrina thing is annoying because even Tyla dealt with that not long ago. Do people understand that these girls are not one hit wonders and they did not blow up over night? They have been in the game and working hard to breakthrough. Chappell Roan said it best "I've been doing this the whole time..."
@dfrom103yt4 Yeah but the barbs have convinced themselves that Nicki is somehow on Rihanna & Beyonce level and that without Nicki's stamp of approval there career will go nowhere despite how successful Cardi B has been since her and Nicki fell out
@tylerhartman3034 say what you want about Nicki, that was beyond lazy what Taylor did and she still got the nerve to charge full price for her shit? From 10 years ago. Gtfoh w/ that bullshit, Nicki would never, and the Barbs would never just accept some bottom-of-the-barrel marketing like that shit.
Off the Wall is MJ’s best album sonically but in my opinion Dangerous is his best album artistically and storytelling wise. Or maybe I just like MJ’s darker shit more lmfao. That album also showed how deep MJ’s songwriting bag was. Off the Wall he wrote 3/10, Dangerous 11/14. I love Off the Wall tho
@@CamrynSuzanne yeah I just like how interesting the production is as well as the different topics he explores on Dangerous. Jam is amazing album opener, and I think the title track is a great closer. The only real issue I have with Dangerous is the mixing on the song Can’t Let Her Get Away where’s he rapping. I think his vocals were drowned out by the beat on that part.
Def agree about hip hop needing a reset. I'm not deep into hip hop/rap by any means but it feels like it's in a similar spot to where rock was before grunge came up. It's super commercialized and trends and aesthetics are coming before artistry more often. Hopefully now that the commercial space is so saturated, and people are starting to get sick of it, we'll see more artists coming up with more unique and authentic sounds
Yep it’s become so convoluted and commercialized to the point where people have forgot the fundamentals, the roots , the purpose. Most of the rap music mainstream pushes is pretty watered down😢
I wish Brandy would get more of her flowers in this generation as much as Brittany. She was really the blueprint on how to successfully market a teen superstar with her show, music and products that used her likeness.
White soul singers thoughts: I’m a vocalist classically trained and I teach voice. Adele is not solid technique wise keep in mind she has had I believe 2 vocal surgeries due to her bad technique. I’ve heard seasoned vocal therapist and teachers say she tries so hard to sound like a 60s black woman from the south that and that’s not her construction. I prefer Kelly her singing is closer to her talking style and tend to sound healthier and as far we know has not led to any lasting injuries
Thanks for adding to this as a vocalist! I think it’s important we frame the convo properly and a lot of vocalist in the comments are saying something similar
I think the argument for no longer working with Finneas loses a lot of its weight when you listen to her latest album. That album is in another sonic universe from her first 2 releases, and is probably their best work to date. It's probably too soon to say, but HMHAS is probably their magnum opus and the ridiculous amount of awards that the first album got, feels like is more warranted with this album.
Girl I think we should be friends because I always agree with your takes. Human nature is not only Michael’s best song but top 10 songs like everrr ever ever
I absolutely and wholeheartedly disagree with the people who say that Billie needs to branch out from making music with Finneas. They are a creative partnership and I don't think Billie Eilish would be who she is today without her brother's music production talent. Finneas and Billie are simply geniuses when they work together. They bolster each other creatively and I just don't think it would feel right if Billie ever released an album without her brother as a creative partner.
Omg why is Doja getting shade thrown at her 😭😭😭😭 I love her music so much and don’t mind her rapping, I think her gimmicky voice is something not many people do and I love that about her, makes her music stand out so much more than other pop/rap artist. Still respect ur opinion we all different taste, banger video!!! ❤️
It’d be nice if she had more songs that were mainly singing or mainly rapping for some people who don’t like the mix of both. Love To Dream, the second verse caught me off but she still manage to match the vibe. More songs like FTG would be nice as well❤
I disagree with your stance on Chappell Roan, but I respect it. I understand she is not for everyone. She is to me, however, the most talented and interesting female pop artist in a while. Her vocals, lyrics and stage presence hit for me. I also believe Aaliyah and Beyoncé would have been able to coexist. Beyoncé would have become the artist and performer we know today. As for Aaliyah (I’m happy you said it, too), her career seemed to have been going in many directions. She could have stuck with music, but I believe she would have continued branching out in acting (I know she was supposed to star in Honey before she sadly passed away) and would have branched out into other business ventures, AND could have been a strong advocate in the me too movement. Rap and hip-hop need to be better. As a fan of that genre, the best songs in recent memory have all stemmed from beefs. While those can be fun to watch play out (unless it gets violent), I wish they would stop their bullshit and uplift each other. Some of the anger and disgust is valid, and I don’t understand why some fans defend some of their tomfoolery. As for the female rappers, if they would stop hating one another they could rule the world of rap and hip-hop. As for all the rappers, stop letting just anyone in.
Ok, about Chappell I was just gonna say, has anyone even heard “Coffee”? Like, that sad singer songwriter vibe? It almost gives Joji, how understated and sad it is. Complete opposite side of the spectrum from “operatic”.
Oh no baby not the hearing vibrato in Chappell’s voicing & equating it to opera 💀🤦🏻♀️ She gives musical theater classical pop realness. Like Barbara Streisand, Judy garland… Very very far from opera tho omg what a wild statement
@@SideEyeee_ I think you don't know what mid means. The average singer these days is nowhere near Chappelle's artistry. Whether you like her or not, no one can deny her talent.
39:48. As a person with a Bachelor of Science in P.R., let me tell you one thing every company should know because it's a sure way to shoot yourself in the foot and piss people off: You can NEVER put something behind a paywall that was previously free. 1. The backlash will be insane. It seems greedy and out-of-touch when we're in the middle of the worst recession in human history and the current global economy is in the shitter. The Watcher fiasco was a great case study on this. 2. You will not make as much money as you are planning (Usually it's a loss). Point, blank, period. 3. People will just pirate it. So fast it will make your head spin. 4. Early reviewers are gonna either be stans or critics on RUclips, which is not good for making money. The stans are going to buy the product anyways and the critics are going to be even more harsh since it costs money now when it previously didn't. People deciding whether or not to purchase will look to those RUclipsrs and go, "fuck this, no thanks," poisoning the well so that no one drinks it. The incentive has to be something completely unique that a purchaser wouldn't otherwise get waiting for the album to drop on streaming. So albums and CDs before streaming? Sure, that's fine. Just know your stuff will be pirated. But making it DIGITALLY inaccessible so that you have to buy it before it comes out on streaming... I'd love to see that dumpster fire.
“woman’s world would be better if it wasn’t produced by dr luke and had better lyrics.” so if it was a different song? i agree that so much more is expected from katy at this point

disagree with Billie Eilish. I love that she works with her brother for the music and this could be me just talking because i lost my sister to cancer but that duo means a lot to me. He's done his own music before and she has written songs of her own. together tho, i just feel like they're so unstoppable (hint the soooo many grammys and oscars) i'm not a huge fan as i used to be when she first popped out the scene but her fineas go well together.
One of the biggest issues in my opinion, regarding what's going on with Hip-hop, is everybody is rapping over trap beats. It's just not exciting, you can anticipate how every new rap release is going to sound. We might need to bring back using drum breaks.
Not just that, but I feel like sample clearance issues really crippled modern hip-hop on the production side. Trap beats is now a one size fits all production style. And it's EVERYWHERE now, even metalcore bands are using it. Which would be cool if it wasn't already over saturated in the industry. I miss deep cut sampling tbh. That's what hip hop needs, it goes together like wire rims on a low rider.
Unpopular opinion: jojo who sings too little too late and leave get out deserves soo much success such as what Ariana and Sabrina get! because of what happened to her she got forgotten and also along with her, coco jones and jordan Pruitt from Disney
23:14 as a Nicki Minaj fan I'm not a crazy fan just a listener and I do recognise that before Nicki there was Lil Kim and I feel like Lil Kim is the one who allowed Nicki to fly. I think the reason in female rap people have the kiss the ring mentality because the rap or hip-hop genre is dominated by men and females were few and not given the same airplay like men in hip-hop.
As a singer I can say that people confuse appealing singing with healthy singing. Kelly sings with a more healthy technique than Adele. Adele’s voice sounds good but she’s had to get multiple vocal chord surgeries in her career whereas Kelly’s voice has gotten richer over time. A lot of that has to do with technique. Someone’s voice or tone can sound cool but that doesn’t mean it’s healthy or sustainable. I can imagine it’s similar in dance if someone is using unideal technique for tricks that might look cool but can cause injury if done wrong too much over time. Great singing has to include healthy singing otherwise you’re going to shorten your career unnecessarily. if we're talking a Versuz battle based on songs though, I would vote for Adele because I prefer her music. Kelly's pop-rock stuff isn't always for me. Both of them are getting washed by Jazmine Sullivan though.
Thank you for adding this as a singer! I think this was such a straightforward way of breaking it down. I completely can understand why people appreciate Adele tone or delivery a lot more. But it’s argument that Kelly vocally and technically would be considered stronger. And yesss! Rep Jazmine!! she’s really not talked about enough
I don’t even know who Tyla is but you know what I know? I know about Water. I think it was a great move on her teams part because it was a smash hit. You never know what you’ll be up against in the future and you lose 100 percent of the shots you don’t take. I think about Tamar Braxton at times like this. She has an undeniable talent and with an album and singles strong as Love and War, she walked home empty handed.
MJ's intention was to make an album filled with tracks for everyone, that's why Thriller feels all over the place, it does have some of his best songs ever (WBSS, Human Nature,TLIML, nope, not including BJ because next to the other three it's DEVOURED) as a moonwalker, I don't really go back to Thriller from start to finish album experience, I listen to some of the songs, but never fully exactly because it doesn't have an exact vibe to it, the variety indeed is what made it successful, which is great. Honestly, for me, Off The Wall and BAD are his best albums, solid from top to bottom, each with a certain vibe/story I do want to make an honorable mention to HIStory because that album was INSANE and so personal, the genre range, his vocal performance, how politically heavy and socially sensitive it is (About Us, Tabloid Junkie, Money, Earth Song, Little Susie, Come Together cover knowing all the story behind it) tracks addressing the 1993 allegations (This Time Around aka THE BIGGIE COLLAB LIKE?????, 2 Bad with Shaquille O'Neal, D.S with Slash, Stranger In Moscow) AND finally having a collab with Janet, he was doing it all and he was MAD big time! I always recommend people to listen that first, because it's probably the only time we got a true glimpse of MJ as a human and not as an icon.
This is reall! Thank you for adding this context. Thriller is absolutely his most iconic album. And like you, and has some of his best music on there undoubtedly. It’s just so interesting. How off-the-wall is often left out of the conversations of his best album because when you really listen back, it was a really great body of work. Maybe some people aren’t hip? I also thoroughly enjoyed the bad album as well. I would say that’s my third favorite. Also, because of this comment, I’m going to revisit history because I remember some of the tracks off the top of my head, but a lot of them are blurry to me, and it sounds like I should give it another listen!
@@CamrynSuzanne I think OTW is left out because it's disco (sadly, it's not a music genre liked by the general public, let's not forget the album lowkey was a response to the infamous disco demolition night, specially Burn This Disco Out) and visually it didn't go as far as Thriller did (even though DSTYGE and RWY have spectacular music videos). Though, it has been an ongoing topic recently for critics to decide between OTW and Thriller as MJ's best album, so it's only time the public catches up. Please do revisit HIStory, such a gem of an album constantly overlooked, when it was very diverse in music genres, he went off writing, singing and even rapping, it was him at his most experimental/adventurous, I do hope it goes under a renaissance, because how come people are always talking and wondering about his thoughts, when he made an entire album exploring exactly that? like... he made a whole tea party with this album, also the diss tracks go absolutely crazy!
I’m glad that someone brought up the topic of Brandy. She is seemingly beginning to get her flowers, but it feels like more needs to be recognized because she truly was a force to be reckoned with. And I’m also glad you discussed the Aaliyah/Beyoncé comparisons, because it never made any sense to me. Two totally different artists with different approaches to their art. And with Aaliyah’s untimely passing, we really don’t know what direction she could’ve went in for her career.
Honestly if Ice Spice wants any chance at success again. She’s to take a long hiatus, 2-4 years and actually perfecting her craft and finding her own style. Otherwise she’s just gonna end up with a reputation of “Yeah, that happened.”
I feel the same way about you as i do FD Signifier in the sense that i get excited whenever i see a new upload from you ive seriously considered getting patrieon because of you your commentary is articulate and introspective i believe you are very wise for your age! More unpopular opinions i didnt submit this time: I feel like Avril Lavigne isnt celebrated for really making pop/punk in the mainstream and 20 years later we are now seeing new girls that are Avril's musical daughters! Lil Kim gets disrespected WAY too much and it pisses me off so bad shes the blueprint for the rap girls who wear colored wigs, are hypersexual and who are into high fashion I dont feel like Cher gets enough credit for her influence on female popstars she was the first female popstar to really push sexual boundaries and fashion boundaries and i think Cher deserves more credit for being the trendsetter she is
I wish Taylor Swift would give more vocal moments, she’s got a nice voice and she’s definitely proven herself, like Lana, and I feel like they just don’t really try anymore and focus more on their lyrics… which is awesome, but I want some good vocals too
I get this bc her songs really don’t exemplify her talent but according to her (a long time ago tbf) that’s intentional. She wanted to create songs that her fans could easily sing with. Nowadays I find she’s doing an interesting thing where her songs seem easy (little to no flourish, very catchy) until you try to sing them and realize how difficult they actually are for a normie.
I agree with you that Beyoncé would have still been big if Aaliyah was still alive since they're totally different artists. If anything, I would have wondered if Ciara would have had the same career if Aaliyah was alive.
Slightly off-topic, I've been watching your videos for about maybe 2 months now and can we just acknowledge how cohesive your talking points are..and your edits! If you do your edits, kudos girl.
Yall Gotta Remember, Nicki Was The Only One For A Long Time. Like Really Look At Her Come Up. On The Woman Side We Never Seen Anything Like Her. She Did The Mixtape Circuit, The DVD Circuit, And She Was Right At That Tail End Of Physical Transitioning Into Digital. That 07-09 Underground Run Was The Shit. “Itty Bitty Piggy” Sealed The Deal. You Damn Near Get Mad When The Beat Come On & You Hear Souljaboy & Not Her 😭. Not A Nicki Fan, But Flowers Aint A Bad Thing To Give.
Nicki Minaj WAS the queen of rap but her attitude as of the last few years and beefing with almost every female rapper just gives jealousy and bitterness. If she didn’t feel threatened she would remain queen of rap if she just wasn’t so insecure and hateful but at the same time she is the one that MADE female rap what it is today. She DEFINITELY deeeves her flowers I just wish she didn’t see every female rapper as competition cause she would win every time so
She isn't the one starting up any of these beefs. Lets put that down on the table and keep it there. Most of the females that turn on Nicki were once FEATURES on her tracks, or she was a feature on their tracks. "If she wasn't so insecure" Nicki Minaj has been torn down in this industry for YEARS. Ever since Lil Kim took shots and the fans PUSHED the problem. Y'all come at her when she's DEFENDING herself, y'all don't hit or say anything when you have the other girls dragging and saying the most AFTER having their moment with her. And all of a sudden she's the one that's insecure? Because she speaks up about it or mentions it? Of course, she probably has her insecurities, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't defend herself when FANS and people come at her. I am a Barb. Been a Barb since 10 years old. All I have to say is: Nicki shouldn't always be jumping on these other female's track because they're TRENDING. Like when she hopped on Doja's Say So track, as a remix, or giving Ice Spice any look of attention. She did it a lot and when it blows up, aka the girls switching on her, fans and people say the most. "She's insecure and bitter, why can't she give these girls a feature? " if she doesn't hop on a track when asked. "Old and washed up asf! She's useing **** for clout" if she DOES uplift these ladies and get on with them. Nicki Minaj just can't win.
Random thought about the Janet & madonna thing. Madonna was in trouble publicly with the Erotica era. She softened things up for bedtime stories era but she also released Human Nature where she addresses the backlash and says shes not sorry. Janet could not do this after the superbowl. She could not release a song like human nature as a response and it’s because she has so many things stacked up against her. Being a black woman and a Jackson. Still I can’t help but wonder how an unapologetic approach would sound from Janet in like some alternative world. 100% the media would tear her to shreds tho 💔 Both queens of pop and the music industry. I just wish Janet got more flowers she deserves because her impact is still alive and well! Through the whole blacklist mess Janet still charted with Feedback 💕
even Namie Amuro, who used to be called "The Japanese Madonna", said multiple times her biggest influence was Janet Jackson. I completely see this point of view, and I say it as a Madonna fan.
I'm so here giving Brandy, the OG girl-next-door teen pop princess, her flowers. her name needs the same reverence as Britney, Xtina, Bey, and the like. do better people! I'm talking to these award shows. tribute her and give her some kind of impact/trailblazer recognition.
I get that she had her moment in the 90s but...she doesn't really have the showmanship quality or visuals the other people mentioned have 💀 And there were "marketable" teen stars like Tiffany and Debbie Gibson before her tbh.
30:10 they’re COMPLETELYYY different artists lmao. not to mention the statistical fact that beyoncé was outselling her worldwide, and more acclaimed as vocalist, when she was still alive. i wish people would simply say what they really mean - they hate beyoncé and would prefer that she left the earth instead of their fave.
This was a good unpopular opinion video I would say the only thing that I would disagree is the doja cat one tho doja cat is an artist I feel like she’s tryna be multi genre because on Twitter i recently read a article interview from Jack harlow that doja in the near future said she wants to create a neo soul album and wants to try to bring back less sexual music in a lyrical clever which is promising
Fair! That’s why I think that’s definitely an unpopular opinion. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate her artistry and attention to her Craft. I just think sometimes some of the music just doesn’t click with my ear stylistically. Also, I would love to hear her do a neo soul album!!! Definitely see her doing this
13:25 people look at numbers and equate that to sole impact 13:50 “taylor releasing variants to stay at #1 isnt petty…. you’re just salty she’s more successful than your fave” Idk if this sequencing was intentional on your part, but i had a nice lil cackle here. Side note, I finally got into Janet Jackson’s discography (other than the hits) this year thanks in part to Camryn and am eternally grateful
So this is my first comment on this channel and I just want to add something about the Taylor situation... The VMAs happened and a lot of fans of other artists said that this artist or this artist deserve the award but people forget that most of the categories of the VMAs are fan voted... It's not about merit is about popularity...
Every time somebody new blows up, they get called industry plan like it’s becoming a trend people even forgot the meaning of it specially with Sabrina Carpenter. She’s been in the industry for 10 years Also Chappell Who has been in the industry for 10 years also People think that industry plant means a label is helping you like isn’t that the point of a label to help the artist and promote them And if that means industry plan, then everybody in Hollywood is an industry plant because it’s impossible to make it independent
@@CamrynSuzanne Don't forget her first albums were a flop. They were going to drop her before Beyonce said she felt like Rihanna had style to her that needed to be tapped. Why would they give her an Umbrella if Aaliyah was the real trendsetter? Why build when you already have? Given she didn't stick with only acting.
Madonna has the numbers true, partly because Madonna wasn't bl@ckballed in the industry . Janet is the blue print. Madonna for all of her success doesn't have that many "children" in the industry . People get called her children incorrectly, like gaga who is much more Chers daughter, or Britney who is more Janet's daughter. Madonna's blue print to success was shock factor to attention for each new project, just Janet's blueprint is more varied and often seen. Artists taking control of their career and sound (a la the control album), the" I am not a little girl anymore" (a la love will never do without you ." the performance style that most pop girl have to do of the heavy choreography full of dancers and being center stage (a la rythmm nation, what have you done for me latelu). People weren't really do that before her. They kind of bounced around like Madonna in "get into the groove". Madonna and Janet had a rivalary in the 90s and at one point Janet had the highest paid record contract before mariah broke it.
modern music is art, business, and competition, and you have people getting mad when artists behave as such. im not a taylor fan but getting mad at her for marketing and topping charts and having musical "monopoly" is weird. she IS the artist. why wouldnt she push her music? its not like a tech company where if they monopolize the industry it could hinder the way people operate. she could have all top 10 spots and all you gotta do is not listen to her. i understand caring if you're an artist yourself but as a fan? its really not that deep. then you have people like nikki constantly embarrassing themselves online asking why people dont recognize her or getting mad at other rappers for just showing basic confidence in their abilities... girl people got opinions. every mainstream rapper calls themselves number 1 or the queen. it's part of the current culture. allowing yourself to get heated over something so basic is ridiculous, her and her fans. even being obsessed with people knowing she came first chronologically, girl we know.

@@CamrynSuzanne💯
Well said
Seriously. She’s been in the game for a minute.
She's not a plant but she is getting payola
I hate how a lot of black women aren't considered popstars because of skin color and are instead categorized as hip-hop/r&b. And like listen those are my favorite genres but it is borderline racist to ALWAYS categorize black women there and not have more diversity like be in the pop space. Like why are white girls only allowed to be in the pop genre? Or white passing. There is absolutely no diversity. I wanna see more representation of all races and I especially wanna see black female artists get the flowers that they deserve. It really shouldn't be this complicated like it is straight up modern day segregation.
Another thing, we NEED a dark skin black pop princesses. Colorism in the music industry is unreal.

Exactly. Cupcakke slaps. She's the only one that can master out-of-pocket rap
Yes I loved Cupcake 🧁
I 100% agree about Cupcakke. Her most recent album surprised me so much. I put it on at a whim and there is nothing but hits and stellar flow on that project! She truly has what it takes, it’s a shame she’s been boxed into this meme status by the internet at large.
Janet Jackson has done, pop, rnb, soul, hard rock, and even used country influences. Her influences stretches FAR. Ask Bey ask Bruno ask Gaga ask Britney. The receipts are online ijs
Yess👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Madonna had good songs, but Janet Jackson...you can't compare the two. Janet just like her brother Michael changed the music industry.
She disrespected Christianity. Her fault.
in your friend's defense - from being a child star groomed for the business from a young age, to all the weird symbolism in her early videos, to all the money behind her forcing her into our consciousness and onto our playlists, her whole vibe just SCREAMS industry plant.

I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but, i think people only throw the "industry plant" term around because they either don't know what it actually means or don't like the artist that's getting popular
Foresure! It is way overused and it’s used to be dismissive of people more often than not
To me it feel like there’s not of enough individuality in female rap.
I couldn't agree more
I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but I believe that inclusivity towards black artists has gotten worse than better.

Give it a rest. Touch grass.
@@Elway07-o4s so edgy. did you come up with that all by yourself?
Facts. That’s a reciter not a rapper
I'd argue '90s hip-hop sounded good because of the eclectic sampling.

That part! People act like that is not a fact

Oop okay lol
yea I don't understand the opera thing, she just has a well trained voice
Janet also has the numbers 😂 same situation with Brandy lol they don't wanna give the black artist the credit
My opinions:
I saw a comment saying that Michael was above god like wtf
@ it’s crazyy
Janet Jackson to me will always be the queen of pop! her run from Control to Rhythm Nation 1814 to Janet to The Velvet Rope is the greatest run in my music history!
She is really that girl! And will forever be🙌🏽
PERIOD!!!❤️
I hear you on this one.
Would have been? I thought she was....
@@SMW-qv3mo You guys listen to black women until they tell you something you don’t want to hear. You don’t have any grievances to bear in the matter, and if you do, give it to the person who ACTUALLY hindered Janet’s career, Les Moonves.
Another unpopular opinion:
The Clout Chasing era is the reason why the music industry is where its at.
@Boar True
This!!!!...record labels want money and tik tok insta influencers are great especially if they got the followers .
I swear the whole Sabrina thing is annoying because even Tyla dealt with that not long ago. Do people understand that these girls are not one hit wonders and they did not blow up over night? Def agree about hip hop needing a reset. I'm not deep into hip hop/rap by any means but it feels like it's in a similar spot to where rock was before grunge came up. It's super commercialized and trends and aesthetics are coming before artistry more often. Hopefully now that the commercial space is so saturated, and people are starting to get sick of it, we'll see more artists coming up with more unique and authentic sounds

The gimmicky voice is so fun to play with in her music. I mean even Kendrick Lamar has a gimmicky voice
“Coffee” is an excellent song off of her album.

I agree, I think it’s also just the lazy reuse of other songs just to be Frankensteined into a “new song”
Unpopular opinion: jojo who sings too little too late and leave get out deserves soo much success such as what Ariana and Sabrina get! because of what happened to her she got forgotten and also along with her, coco jones and jordan Pruitt from Disney
Jojo purposely left the industry
Honestly, for me, Off The Wall and BAD are his best albums, solid from top to bottom, each with a certain vibe/story
I do want to make an honorable mention to HIStory because that album was INSANE and so personal, the genre range, his vocal performance, how politically heavy and socially sensitive it is (About Us, Tabloid Junkie, Money, Earth Song, Little Susie, Come Together cover knowing all the story behind it) tracks addressing the 1993 allegations (This Time Around aka THE BIGGIE COLLAB LIKE?????, 2 Bad with Shaquille O'Neal, D.S with Slash, Stranger In Moscow) AND finally having a collab with Janet, he was doing it all and he was MAD big time!

I feel like Avril Lavigne isnt celebrated for really making pop/punk in the mainstream and 20 years later we are now seeing new girls that are Avril's musical daughters!
Lil Kim gets disrespected WAY too much and it pisses me off so bad shes the blueprint for the rap girls who wear colored wigs, are hypersexual and who are into high fashion
I dont feel like Cher gets enough credit for her influence on female popstars she was the first female popstar to really push sexual boundaries and fashion boundaries and i think Cher deserves more credit for being the trendsetter she is
I wish Taylor Swift would give more vocal moments, she’s got a nice voice and she’s definitely proven herself, like Lana, and I feel like they just don’t really try anymore and focus more on their lyrics… which is awesome, but I want some good vocals too
I get this bc her songs really don’t exemplify her talent but according to her (a long time ago tbf) that’s intentional. She wanted to create songs that her fans could easily sing with. Nowadays I find she’s doing an interesting thing where her songs seem easy (little to no flourish, very catchy) until you try to sing them and realize how difficult they actually are for a normie.
They getting worse and everyone’s got em
Yesss indeed😳
😂
I agree with you that Beyoncé would have still been big if Aaliyah was still alive since they're totally different artists. If anything, I would have wondered if Ciara would have had the same career if Aaliyah was alive.
Slightly off-topic, I've been watching your videos for about maybe 2 months now and can we just acknowledge how cohesive your talking points are..and your edits! If you do your edits, kudos girl.
She does her own edits! 🔥
Wow thank youu🥹🥹 this is soo sweet! And yes I do my edits!!
You're welcome 😊
I agree with the point on Brandy.. but to put a raycon ad 5 seconds after 😂😂
Lmao😭 I swear I didn’t do that on purpose 😂 the chappell opinion added a little space ahha
@@CamrynSuzanne all love 🫶🏽

Yay❤ so happy to see you're getting sponsored and I watch all ads to support the channel. Much love from Latin America!
I appreciate you so much!!😊
Yall Gotta Remember, Nicki Was The Only One For A Long Time.
100% the media would tear her to shreds tho 💔
Both queens of pop and the music industry. I just wish Janet got more flowers she deserves because her impact is still alive and well! Through the whole blacklist mess Janet still charted with Feedback 💕
the discipline album with feedback on it went #1 too
even Namie Amuro, who used to be called "The Japanese Madonna", said multiple times her biggest influence was Janet Jackson.
@@welfare_king I don't know who either of those people are but Brandy was ubiquitous when I was a kid. like Miley Cyrus or T. Swift.
Btw Camryn this was the best unpopular opinions video so far you ate EVERYTHANG your commentary was on point per usual
Ohhh thank you!!😊😊😊
@@CamrynSuzanne Can you add a punk as one of the subjects so we can discuss arist like Avril and Hallie William's?
Definitely see her doing this
13:25 people look at numbers and equate that to sole impact
13:50 “taylor releasing variants to stay at #1 isnt petty…. you’re just salty she’s more successful than your fave”
Idk if this sequencing was intentional on your part, but i had a nice lil cackle here. Side note, I finally got into Janet Jackson’s discography (other than the hits) this year thanks in part to Camryn and am eternally grateful
Ahh! I’m glad I could have a little part in encouraging you to get into janet🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
One of the few rational music critics on RUclips. The industry would be in a better state if most fans shared your rational level headed thinking.
@@thedonbishop55 i appreciate that🙌🏽🙌🏽
So this is my first comment on this channel and I just want to add something about the Taylor situation... The VMAs happened and a lot of fans of other artists said that this artist or this artist deserve the award but people forget that most of the categories of the VMAs are fan voted... It's not about merit is about popularity...
WHEWWW 42 min vid i am excited!! we are so back!!!
Coming thru with the long uploads lately! I love feeling like the video is not rushed!! Hope you enjoy 🫶🏽
Me listening to Chappell while watching this when you said she’s just not for you😭😭
Oop😭 still think she’s cool artistically
thriller is one of my comfort albums tbhh
Nicki definitely the queen of Rap. The talent speaks for itself
No one’s done what she’s done. Like it’s just a fact she’s the queen of rap.
If Aaliyah was still alive Rihanna would not be successful...
Ohhhh now this is a take, I can kinda see this but I do think Rihanna was a bit different as well so she may have been okay, maybe just not as big?
@@CamrynSuzanne Don't forget her first albums were a flop. They were going to drop her before Beyonce said she felt like Rihanna had style to her that needed to be tapped. Why would they give her an Umbrella if Aaliyah was the real trendsetter? Why build when you already have? Given she didn't stick with only acting.
I love these videos. We all have our own opinions so it’s fun to see how everyone feels lol.
Yes that’s my fav part🙌🏽 nothing personal just having discourse
Another great video! You’re always so spot on with your opinions (or answers to other’s opinions) and I agree with you on all of them!
❤
Love this breakdown!! You made points and I have to agree
That taylor take is terrible and that person needs to get off the internet
😭😭😭
modern music is art, business, and competition, and you have people getting mad when artists behave as such.
im not a taylor fan but getting mad at her for marketing and topping charts and having musical "monopoly" is weird. she IS the artist. why wouldnt she push her music? its not like a tech company where if they monopolize the industry it could hinder the way people operate. she could have all top 10 spots and all you gotta do is not listen to her. i understand caring if you're an artist yourself but as a fan? its really not that deep.
then you have people like nikki constantly embarrassing themselves online asking why people dont recognize her or getting mad at other rappers for just showing basic confidence in their abilities... girl people got opinions. every mainstream rapper calls themselves number 1 or the queen. it's part of the current culture. allowing yourself to get heated over something so basic is ridiculous, her and her fans. even being obsessed with people knowing she came first chronologically, girl we know.
No album is better than thriller and if it is, it’s off the wall. Period
