No,blades are not that strong enough..but you can grind dry spices to fine powder.. For grinding haldi sticks you can check my other video (Atta chakki/domestic flour mill)in product reviews playlist,you get better idea

Yes,this is working absolutely fine even after an year but you need to be little extra careful with transperant lid as it is little delicate... otherwise whole unit worth having it.
