It's been a year since I first heard this beautiful song and I must have played it at least three dozen times since then. It still brings a tear to my eye. Thanks Bud, for the great music !
Thanks for visiting and for your comment--no it's not me in the photo--but this photo is so symbolic that it could be anyone of us who experienced the trauma of uprooting our homes here in NL.
Thank you for your comment much appreciated. I have heard many sad stories such as yours over the years. I really believe that resettlement is one of the most significant historical events in the lives of our people in this province. I don't mean to say it was all bad experiences because we know that was not the case. It was nevertheless the most wrenching emotional experience particularly for your parents' and my parents' generation. It still gets me extremely emotional to talk about it .
Thank You, Bud Davidge. So well written and will forever keep the sad times of "Resettlement" alive. The nostalgia sends tingles up my spine. That could very well be my two sisters and I back in 1957. We all appreciate your music and songs. Cheers.
they cannot be written any better than this!!! absolutely touching and descriptive.....I heard this a few times on AM radio... I just appreciated for this wonderful "Genuine newfoundland music of this group and telling aboutyou/ourHardships and how amazing for ye to be put into such beautiful lyrics, GODLESS YOU!!!!100----100
Kirk -Thanks for the comment. Yes there's no doubt that was an emotional time for all who were part of it --leaving home is always sad but leaving with no hope of ever coming back is a different ball game altogether.
This song is so so so beautifully sung and the music background is excellant. I listen to it and it gives me goosebumps. A beautiful song indeed., thank you Bud.......Jerita
Bud: I never tired of listening to your songs and your music! You are a Newfoundland treasure....very few can write such lyrics and capture the essence of the ''outport people'! Thank you! Merry Christmas!

I love this song Bud, I own a Lodge and I have been asked a million times what is this about and when I tell them the story of resettlement and the impact on our people, you can see the sadness in their face. Thank you for recording our history.

Thanks Bud...... you bring the reality of life in Newfoundland for us to feel and hear the details of what had taken place..... immense feelings expressed and for good reason ! People should be told of this tragedy more often and with the details you expressed.
The Picture/House he is singing about is My Uncles and my 3 cousins. From Back in 1961 (i think) The house is being towed in from Silver Fox Island to Dover, Bonavistia Bay
