This Kangaroo Grasshopper Tutorial will showcase a very well known Grasshopper plugin for physical simulation. It’s known as Kangaroo Physics and we’ll be reproducing a Kinetic Wall project designed by the studio Barkow Leibinger.
Kangaroo is a live physics engine for interactive simulation, form-finding, optimization, and constraint solving. It consists of a solver library and a set of Grasshopper components.
Since our goal is to create a tensile surface, you will learn how to create anchor points and springs needed for generating this kind of form. Based on the parameters you set first and modifying them, you will be able to watch a live interactive simulation that you can stop until you get the desired result.
You will also discover how to modify existing mesh, delete mesh faces, weld mesh vertex in combination with form-finding software.
Last but not least, we will reveal a cool trick on how to divide the surface or rectangle into almost equal dimension segments using just one slider, no matter what their length or area.
Feel free to let us know in the comments below the video which project you want to see in one of our upcoming tutorials.

Thanks a lot!! Please consider using other colours for preview next time, as green and red and not very friendly to people with colour blindness

You didn't explain why there is a Sweep component attached to another Rectangle and Perp Frame. (On the bottom of your file) Why is that there/What does it do??

Can you give us some recommended specs for modeling and rendering desktop setup, something optimal? And which CPU you think is better now, AMD or Intel?

      Hi Uros,
It depends on the budget of course, the more you spend, the better performances you'd get.
I'd recommend at least 32gb of RAM
Processor - at the moment definitely AMD Ryzen family, they are so far ahead compared to Intel, I'd go for Ryzen 3900x or 3950x
Graphics Card - Any Nvidia GTX 2080 with 4 or 8gb of vram but even better Nvidia Quadro P4000 again, it depends on the budget

@@HowtoRhino I was interested in your opinion about the CPU mostly. Thx

Hey, thanks for the tutorial guys, just a query, GH doesn't have thhe mesh explode component which u used to explode the mesh into its constituent faces, and i cant find another alternative to do it, some help will be appreciated, thanks. @howtorhino

Hi there, thanks for the tutorials, really appreciate it ! However have a question, when I tried to deconstruct the meshes and reconstruct them( and then flattening them in the output), they don't give the intended results ( the pattern becomes irregular and its not regular as shown in the video). However, when I used the explode mesh component then only it gives the intended results (regular pattern). May I ask is there a reason for this ? For learning and understanding purposes, thanks.
