I'm from Brazil, and I started playng Atabaque, its very similar to conga, but is used in a afro-brazilian cult called Umbanda, wich is directly influenced by ancient yorubas religion.... And now i'm learning the congas, and is good to know about the history, thanks for the video, blessings from Brazil, Axe!
Awesome video man, i believe that attention is turning back to the roots of everything. Despite producing music pretty well on computers i just always felt this pull to something more real, more genuine. Now im the proud owner of congas! God bless xo
Very nice presentation. I would love to even dive deeper into this historical thread. Seems like you are the man for the job. You should write a book that follows the drum from Africa to the Americas.
Your right my brother the conga came from Africa via Cuba, but you mis spoke there were drums in the Americas, just not Conga drums, just keeping it straight Amigo, love your vid.
Absolutamente otra cosa el chico ni es nacido de un país latino es puro gringo. Simpre tratando de negar la influencia de cuba y nuestra potencia musical
Modern day congas are not from Africa. They are Cuban, just because it says “conga” does not mean they originated from Congo because they have similar names. Congas are DERIVED from African drums. But the congas you see in Cuba and other Latin American countries are from Cuba and Invented in Cuba.
Priceless information, great job and thanks 🙏
Alex,
I’m proud to say you are my nephew.

Nice presentation. I've got one suggestion for you as a public speaker. Watch how many times you say "you know". It detracts from your presentation.
Go head, TEACH!
NINGUNO DE ESOS TAMBORES SON CONGAS. NO SIGAN NEGANDO EL ORIGEN CUBANO DE LAS CONGAS Y EL BONGO.

Great video and amazing knowledge right here! but that quote from Voltaire man.. That dude was a big racist and I doubt he was a huge conga fan
No shit! Papa voltaire was a rasist
That’s a good one ,but the Presenter put it in context with the history he wanted to share about the conga.
