My one month old brand new Traxxas sledge started to act up. I sent the motor and ESC back into Traxxas because the power would intermittently cut out despite squeezing the throttle all the way. Traxxas “tested” the system claimed it was normal and sent me the same trash back. I was annoyed so I bought this Max 8 G2 with 4278 sensored motor combo and my sledge on 6S has been an absolute dream. I am done with Traxxas stock electronics, unacceptable for $800 & I don’t even bash at all.
@@lordharr123456 in hindsight I didn’t, I still have it lying around collecting dust, this new system is so much better and never gets hotter than 125 despite running thru a pack in the Miami Heat on 6S.
Yup. I didn’t even run my brand new stock ESC on my X-Maxx or XRT. I just sold them on Ebay and bought some HW ESCS. Even if they run OK, those Traxxas ESCS have no punch. They are weak.
One of my friends bought a Sledge about 6 weeks ago, i'm gonna show him this video coz i know he's gonna a like the new system you put in it. That was AWESOME Joe!
Great run. I wish I could drive half as good as you. Your really have a feel for this track. Thanks for demonstrating how well the Sledge and Hobbywing Motor preformed. 👍
Just ordered this, then bam, here is your video. Thanks for sharing man, very excited to see what this combo can do!! You are using the 4278, correct? The 4268 seems like a poorer choice imo.
I know that max8 is awesome but it’s hard to choose it because the max6 8s combo is only like $15 more. Obviously it ain’t going to fit all vehicles. So hyped over the low temps but it’s only in 4s lol. If it’s only marginally hotter on 6s with no fans on the sledge would be very impressive
new subscriber here When I look at this online it is set up to run two batteries I noticed you only had one connector on yours? Did you modify it or is there just another option when you bought it?
Sir would you please, please please, put this esc and motor combo in the summit? I have upgraded the servos and axles and the 30 series proline tires. but i bash with it.
Hey I would ask you to try this truck with the sway bar kit and actual truggy wheels and Raw speed Villain tires. I raced this truck in the Battle of Crestview for 3 days. At our track called B&T. In the 10 minute maini placed 8th out of 12 race bread truggies and then placed 6th over all after having a rollover and the battery came unhooked at the five minut mark. I ran off the drivers stand and got it plugged it back in and ran back up to the drivers stand and finished the race. Against Losi Associated and Tekno race bread truggies. It has race potential. And granted I was using the 4 cell 6700x Maxx Traxxas battery And the stock radio. But give it a try I want to own one so I can compete and show Traxxas is no joke. It is 15lbs with big stock tires and 12.5 lbs with truggy wheels and Raw speed Villain tires and the big Maxx battery
I just can't believe this crap from Traxxas !! , I've got 6 runs in , the motor bearings are done , the motor mount bracket screws are moving around , dog bones fall out even with the o rings in , nothing I'm not used to with this hobby , but for $900 you would think it would at least hold together , but I love the truck , and the gears in the thing are just garbage , jeeee thanks Traxxas !! Great video as always , I've got a corally still in the box , just ordered the hobbywing through your link , rrrrrats !!!! Geuss I need another one also !!
instead of 6s give it some weight loss . lighter wheel and tires that Ballon will make it do tricks . giving it more power is just gonna make parts break . then your gonna start with the metal parts and chase part after part . it makes more sence to go a racers way use light weight parts to fix the problem . getting power to transfer to the ground is smarter than more power and smashing parts
I don't believe the two sided tape is a good solution for an equipment that costs 200$, what does Hobbywing saying about this? Do they have a solution?
Hi mate that some real piss poor quality control from hobby wing bearings all ready shot. Just like customers service there ain't no quality control too and let's just blame covid-19 or putin for that too 😆🤣. But also I would run max6 for more power and performance all round. Another great video mate thanks mate👍🦘😂🤣🤪.
First clue is its price so high it's a ripoff Traxxas Electronics been junk for years you should know by now what a waste of good Electronics putting it on that toy RC

Question for you did you recalibrate the motor and ESC when it was cutting out in power?

My Sledge motor doing the same thing. I took it out an apart and it don’t seem to be bad bearing. I put new ones in there and it still doing the same.

yeah buddy
Like to see how that works out in the Traxxas Maxx! Nice system!👍😁😎
I agree. Let's go Maxx
Yes me too. 👍🏻

after all the castles, nice to see hobbywing getting some love
for sure, this new stuff is AWESOME
Re watching all your max8 uploads lol pumping me up for mine!
Yes, 6s please. Also nice to see in your Maxx too😁
Awesome 🔥 With better tires I think you could turn some good lap times with that thing. 🔥👍✌️
Dude thank you so much for the discount code ! I’ve baught motors and two different combos and the code is an awesome discount ! Thank you .
A little TLC on smoothing out that track. But other then that I love the carpet and wow what a motor esc combo!!!
Definitely can add a tooth or 2 to the pinion! 👍
I think the new max8 combo will have to find it’s way into my 8ight xte!
yes!
Is your Kraton EXB next for this setup? That’s what I really want to see. This system is awesome!
Actually yeah I can do that
Awesome video!! Traxxas rocks!!
This system looking more promising on every video. I wonder how it will do on a Maxx or an UDR
it did great in a Mojave

I wanna grab one these systems but I feel if I do they will release a max6 combo so I might give it a lil bit
I hope we get a new Max 6 I really do
@@ExocagedRC I really hope so too
Would this system fit the Maxx? Would love to see that!
Yeah I'm sure it will

Do you still have the traxxas receiver in that running on 7.4 volts
Sir would you please, please please, put this esc and motor combo in the summit? I have upgraded the servos and axles and the 30 series proline tires. but i bash with it.
I don't have a Summit but I'm sure it would work great in there
What gearing were you running or what gearing do you recommend on this setup for 6s offeoad bashing?
6s? probably a 14 or 15t
Can you try this combo in the lil maxx id like to see it in action

Sorry to read all that, I've got one pin that isn't as tight as it should be

The stock traxxas are as light as you can get because the tires are so thin and balloon like crazy.
👍😁1

It was the traxxas motor that had the piss poor quality he was showing before he installed the hobbywing mate
@@slarmond38 yeah Sean they do have that problem 👍that's the first thing you get rid of motor esc. 👍😁
By the time you're done with that you could have bought a one Fifth Scale arrma and upgraded it
I've already done that
