  • SEIKO Rotor Noise and Rattle | Is this normal?
    Does your automatic Seiko Watch make a weird rattling noise when you shake the watch? It also feels like the movement or rotor vibrates and is loose. It's the rotor, which is used to wind the watch. If your watch makes the same noise as mine, it's normal!
    here you can hear the Seiko rotor noise:

    I have a new watch with Miyota 9015, and just checked, and it makes the same noise... so I would say it's normal.
    Also, don't spend money on service every 5 years. New watches have synthetic oils and pretty much don't need anything till they start to lose time... like 3-4 minutes a day.

      It's an oyster style bracelet from Strapcode /Miltat. You can either buy it on their website or on Amazon, which is where I got it. Make sure you buy the one for SKX and not for Seiko 5, which looks the same, but it might not fit!

    My Seiko Turtle sounds the same. Got a entirely new movement, still sounds the same. It's a Seiko thing which, in my case, took some time getting used too. But it runs waaayyy more accurate then my Swiss made automatic (that does not make any noises...)

    Hello! Many thanks for the video. Got my Addiesdive with the NH35 and was wandering if the sound is ok.
    Does anyone know will the watch work properly if I just remove the rotor and use the thing without it? So just to wind it up by myself every day.

    • @TimeHeim
      @TimeHeim  4 дня назад

      The sound you hear is probably ok if it's similar to the one in the video. You can remove the rotor, but then you will have to wind the watch manually, which you will get bored of very quickly, as it takes much longer to wind manually than a "regular" manually wound watch. I recommend you just get used to it. You can also try to tighten down the rotor, because the one on my Steeldive is a bit quiter than my Seiko SKX, so it doesn't bother me at all. Good luck!!!

    Thanks a lot, my Seiko sounds like "sheet of metal lose" when tap it or like a sheet not tight and vibrates when tap. the old Heuer nothing at all, but can hear the tic tok at night (is kind of loud) even is a diver and thicker ... but has worked fine for long, thanks for the video ,,,, by the way have an extra 4R35 around🙂

    • @TimeHeim
      @TimeHeim  2 месяца назад

      Just found out Cartier watches are like this too. So from what I've noticed so far, every mechanical watch has some play in the rotor bearing. For Seiko watches it is much more noticeable though. I guess Grand Seiko will be on par with other high end watches, so you would only feel/ hear it if you really pay attention to it!

    I have an old Pocket watch that makes that noise But it doesn't have a router.

    • @TimeHeim
      @TimeHeim  2 месяца назад

      It could be that the movement isn't screwed to the case of the pocket watch, and only held in place by the crown. Probably not an issue
