I have watched Tomas Aurajo for a few games now this season and I also spent the whole 60 minutes he was on the pitch for Portugal yesterday watching only him. HES THE REAL DEAL. Yes he’s only 22 and it’s his first real season starting for benfica but my god he is composed. He made his debut yesterday and looked like the most experienced player on the pitch, directing his teammates, creating from the back, always making the right choice in defensive and offensive actions. But what he has is something VERY FEW central defenders have. He’s an elite Athlete, even though you may not think so at the surface of him. He’s 190 cm with incredible speed both at long and short distances, he’s Incredibly strong and even though he looks skinny he always bullies forwards off the ball with good body strength and timing in the tackle, but most of all, he’s MOBILE as hell, he is the best one on one defender in the team if we want him too, so comfortable in wider areas when defending. And I’ve not even mentioned his on the ball numbers, it’s ELITE, and on the pitch it’s easy to see, both carrying and passing. And he doesn’t make mistakes or errors. 0 mistakes leading to a shot, FOR THE CAREER. Read that again, and realise he’s not just playing simple, he’s creating with both carries out the back and clever passes. He’s really really good and I dream of him in a Chelsea shirt
