It took me 9 months of constant studying to get my first job at 75k, it took me 1 year after that to get my first 6figure offer.these people prey on these people that want to better themselves
This is why people like you are so important. You show us what’s possible with dedication and free, or low priced learning resources. Keep making great content!
It’s unfortunate we used to be friends , unrelated to RUclips or even code, before he moved to LA whenever that was. I never watched his channel but knew he was pretty successful with it. When he moved I actually congratulated him and wished him luck on his future. Didnt take long after for contact to stop. It is unfortunate to see someone you thought of as a genuine person to turn out to be just another fake guru taking advantage of people years later
I’ve seen a couple of of their clone videos. Half the time they are coding and talking about the project. The other half of the time they are showing some donation that praises them. And it gets annoying after a while when you’re there just for the tutorial. Everything about them have always screamed scam. Kind of like timeshares or something.
Excellent video. I'm sure many of us who wanted to start learning programming came across one of Clever Programmer's videos. I can't lie, when I first saw his videos, it gave me a lot of inspiration because he made it seem so easy to just learn programming and get a 6 figure paying job in a really short time; and while it is certainly possible, it's definitely not likely. As time went on, I began to see that his whole RUclips channel is just one big ad for his courses and realized he's just a shady businessman trying to make a profit off of people trying to learn how to code. So this lawsuit does not surprise me at all.
+1 Do you have examples of the opposite? Who does it well? I also guide some of my friends in their computer science journey but I would love to point them into some really good courses/youtubers if you know any.
I have some contacts who worked with Clever Programmer for some time and when they told me about that adventure, especially what they had to do and how they should have gotten paid, it sounded very sus to me. I am happy to say that my friend jumped off that boat early on. Now seeing this video, our gut feelings were right. Clever Programmer does crazy marketing which hooks vulnerable individuals who want to learn programming very well but I think the execution is poor. It simply doesn't feel and look genuine. I think the most important part here is that you find people, who genuinely want to help you learning coding, which is to start at the root: asking them why they want to learn coding and showing them the possibilities in computer science, rather than just starting somewhere and luring them with $$$. Such a great video, Michael. Thanks for sharing!
Just wait for udemy courses, pay 20 bucks, and learn a new skill. Get the info and a very that shows u completed it. Doesn’t hold the value of a license or degree but shows determination and self teaching
checking over my past history, i've only watched one of his videos, because just as you mentioned, the infomercial tone presented in his content was an immediate red flag. discernment is a must.

Absolutely not. Cloning app is an efficient way to practice and consolidate what you’re learning. It is never a waste of time unless you’re already proficient.
I will advise don't blindly clone apps. Instead introduce a new feature(can be a small feature), which the app doesn't have or change the design of the website.
There's nothing wrong with building clones to learn new concepts. If you can retain the information and learn from following a long form tutorial then it works for you!
