@@sharonator Xiao was also enslaved by a god and was forced to eat the dreams of the people he had to kill. I think it's canon that he used to be gentle and soft but then he became cold after he was released from enslavement.
His expression at the end of the last one actually killed me. God, there was so much emotion there as he smiled through the pain, tears, and trauma boring down on him--as he knew he no longer had anyone or anything. All that remained, was the memories that served no purpose or value to the world but were his everything. He only had himself--himself to blame for the nothingness he had ever accomplished--for his ruined life that was now buried under the ashes of a time forgotten. And through all his misery in that moment, the only thing he could do--the only thing he ever knew _how_ to do, was to make himself come to this realization: That he had now lost everything of his own volition, and that life would not wait for him to recover, no, it would only ever move forward no matter how much he broke, despaired, or cried. That’s just how life is.
