Well, in Diamond and Pearl the pacing wasn't very good, Defog was practically a necessity in all of the Sinnoh games, the games run fairly slowly, and the last 3 gyms can be incredibly forgettable. Nonetheless, Platinum is still one of my favorites (my favorite gen was 3)
Staraptor's Brave Birds were, and even moreso now, brutal af. It was the first truly viable regional bird (Swellow had Guts and Speed, but it's frailty is a big issue) which actually packed outright power. Murders a lot of things with Close Combat, Brave Bird and Double Edge/Return (for a safer option).
Gen 4 straight-up is tied with gen 3 for the most number of Pokemon from it that I would put on a top 10 favorite Pokemon list (if I ever make a countdown[My account is mainly for commenting and subscribing right now])
+PokeFan950 Nah lets see in ou atm from gen 1 we have gengar, both mega zards, starmie, chansey, mew, zapdos, mega venusaur and dragonite, clefable, mega pinsir, slowbro. From gen 2 we have skarmory, tyranitar, scizor, azumarill, raikou, mega heracross From gen 3 we have breloom, metagross, mega gardevoir, mega sableye, latios and latias, jirachi, mega manectric, mega medicham . From gen 4 we have magnezone, garchomp, heatran, weavile, hippowdon, gliscor, mega lopunny, rotom-w, manaphy, tangrowth. gen 5 has bisharp, excadrill, serperior, amoongus, kyurem-b, landorus-t, thundurus, tornadus-t and keldeo. From gen 6 we have klefki talonflame, mega diancie, and volcanion
Yes Gen4 my favourite gen which gave me three of my favourite games: Platinum, HeartGold and PMD: Explorer's of sky not to mention the likes of Cyrus, Cynthia and Arceus. It also gave me my favourite pokémon Luxray!, my favourite early route mon Starly that evolves into a monster Staraptor moreover let's not forget Lucario whose popularity rivals that of Pikachu (got into smash too) and Gen4 gave us one of the most OP competitive Pokemon: Garchomp!.
Yup. I always loved Staraptor's cry. Garchomp broke the meta for two generations, it was amazing, and Heartgold was perfect. I actually got a gold leaf crown on a few pokemon.
+Fifek900 Luxray was the coolest looking electric type in that game no other I thought looked that good. And it's Pokédex entry said it had x-ray vision just made it cooler. And besides shinx was adorable.
Weavile was my previous favorite pokemon, i started using him in gen4, breed ice punch into one. called him darth and accidently EV trained him in defense and speed... he took out a fair share of dragons in his pkm battle revolution career.
@@ninezerotwo1778 can't say they suck. But I never played Pokemon after gen 4. However I have started playing again recently. But I'm just playing platinum again on my PC haha
тнєʟєɢєɴᴅ 27 Use amnesia then. Calm mind is only mostly used to boost the SP attack so they are stronger, who knows if a pokemon has a SP move or physical move.
They need to bring back post gen evos. We got so many great, useful mons from that, gives them a chance to fix an older pokemon after seeing what was holding it back or it's role. I still have Magnezone, Togekiss and Gliscor as regular team slots.
+Ana Bang because he just action replayed them in quickly to make the video (they were all met at lvl 100). He isn't battling with them so he doesn't care about nature's or IVs
+Taiga Hirose funny cause there is a code to set their nature as well as the level and pokemon. And there is a code that sets the IVs to 31 too. And they r easy to make.
This is my own experience and opinion that weavile on the list because of its good speed and attack and the ability to learn TM and moves by leveling up that counter 4 out of 6 of weaviles weaknesses
gen 4 redefined the metagame to be what we know it today. that was the generation of the physical/special split, where whether a move was special or physical wasn't based on its type.
yep. of course, i'm using a suicide lead to SET UP stealth rocks...and spin away other hazards. a forretress with a custap berry, using stealth rocks, toxic spikes, rapid spin, and explosion. go in, guaranteed rocks setup, as it has sturdy, toxic spikes if it can, spin away inflicted hazards, and if hp goes low enough the berry makes my next move a priority move. boom.
Pixeljaba Yes I meant the game. I personally think the gen 1 games can burn. And I agree the problems in it were fixed in later games. But that doesn't excuse that this game has easily the worst nostalgic factor. Just look at the genwunners of the Pokémon community. Only gen 1 has the type of fans. And this game started it all. So people could think this is the original and it should not be changed. Anyway that's what I think
I'm surpised you didn't mention Magnezone's overwhelming weakness to Ground. I've always asked myself how the hell the Magnemite line doesn't have Levitate. Hopefully they'll fix that with a Mega in the Sinnoh remake. I want almost all the Pokémon on this list to get Megas.

I need to cry tears of joy. So many people rarely talk about the competitive side of Pokemon. I got tired of watching list after list of people not really covering the competitive side of Pokemon. So many good Pokemon were ignored on other lists because they were ugly or weird reasons like that. It's nice seeing a good competitive list. I loved seeing you talk about Stats,Moves and Abilities. I did not start IV Breeding and EV Training Pokemon until gen 6. But i made over a box worth of perfect Pokemon. I have not really used moth of them. None of my friends really have time to do competitive battles. Plus because i run a Mega Kangaskhan i can't use her in an OU match. And i don't play Pokemon Omega Ruby/Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. That limits people that want the new Mega Evolutions. all my perfect Pokemon never got moved into Pokemon Omega Ruby. They all stayed in Pokemon X. I did send a Lopunny to Pokemon Omega Ruby. It's a competitive Mega Lopunny now. I liked Mega Lopunny so i made one. But i don't have my full team in Pokemon Omega Ruby. Because i'm not paying for Pokemon Bank i can't easily move my Pokemon around. But my perfect Pokemon in Pokemon X did get sent to Pokemon Omega Ruby just to get some good Move Tutor moves. It was easier to IV Breed in Pokemon X. All the Wonder Trade Pokemon are in Pokemon X. So my team was returned. I also use them to grind up other Pokemon. But now i'm getting sidetracked. My point is i really enjoyed seeing a well thought out and built competitive list. It was refreshing.
Hmmm Froslass is by no means 'overpowered'. Have you seen her stats? 80 attack/special attack is terrible and 70 HP/defence/special defense makes it frail. The only decent stat is its speed and yet it still gets outsped and insta-skilled by the likes of Weavile and Alakazam. Dusknoir is a far superior ghost type in gen IV overall for craft and stalling potential
Gallade was incredible in the metagame The insane attack stat and his access to Fighting/Psychic type STAB, plus his unparalleled versatility, made him a nightmare if you didn't already have your sweeper set up to take him out before he gets the chance to stack some more attack on. His speed wasn't so great but there weren't too many Pokemon that could straight-out one shot him, there still aren't, and with a few Bulk Ups his Defense stat comes to match his fantastic Special Defense. One Ice Punch puts Garchomp to sleep, and some Drain Punch keeps him sustaining while he's sweeping an entire team with almost no counters.
Except its only viable Psychic move was Psycho Cut. Also, Shadow Ball was a popular move back then, and Gengar's existenholece kind of put Gallade in check. He's good, just not as godlike as you believe. Especially because he couldn't really take a Brave Bird. A Pokemon that requires setup to perform well is therefore situationally useful, and the Pokemon on the list almost all had everything they needed right from the get go.
+Sam Murray 1.) Put a focus sash. 2.) He also got Close Combat, Leaf Blade, X-scissor, swords dance, rock slide, poison jab. And if you chain breed, shadow sneak. 3.) Gengar is Frail as well anyways, but with something like Swords Dance, Focus Sash, Shadow Sneak next turn, gengar is done for.
my man, mandals. finally someone gives infernape he respect he deverves. Not to mention that in d&p casual game was probably the most valuable pokemon being one of only 2 obtainable fire types
Kingtony it is... gameplay wise, and pokemon wise. X and Y was way to easy and barely had any new pokemon and sun and moon had a lot of text to go through making the overall experience boring, nothing wrong with the pokemon though I had fun despite that.
But you fight lvl100 vs lvl12 so it doesn't show us its power. And also good pokemons are the ones that can defeat all gyms+team galactic +#4 and the champion. Video is good I just think it's irrelevant when u try to prepare good team.
What units that may be good at taking on story content might not be for actual pvp trainer battles. On top of that I've ran games where I only use 3 pokemon for every bit of those fights so its really not difficult.
Hell no, jhoto was awesome. It was basically a better version of kanto that had kanto in it. Silver/gold/crystal are my favorite games in the franchise.
Ahem.. Red and White Circle with eyes Head with screws and magnets Three Heads with screws and magnets Violet Piece of Sh*t with Face and Hands A Less representation of Muk A Horse on Fire A Dog on Fire The Toxic Orb is Aliiiiveeeee The Toxic Orb has two heads A Fox on Fire A Seal A Violet Rat Eggs Tree with Eggs A Taller Tree with Eggs The Toxic Orb is a ghost Creepy Bats, EVERYWHERE A Fatass Dragon (Compared to Dodrio Creepy Dragon Edition and Fucking Dragon with an Axe, On it's head)
With Magnezone you forgot to add that it's immune to Poison and it resists another ELEVEN TYPES, NINE (Normal, Rock, Bug, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy) of which do half damage and another two (Flying and Steel) of which do quarter damage. It is double weak to Fighting and Fire, and is quadruple weak to Ground, but having two thirds of the game's types doing half their damage or less, on top of a Defense of 115 and a Special Defense of 90, is a wonderful trait to have. Magnezone isn't the best Pokemon by a long shot, but you could do a lot worse, especially on the defensive side of battles.
I love how for Garchomp, you used Cynthia's theme... when Cynthia actually used no less than FOUR of the things you mention in this video (Togekiss, Lucario, Garchomp, and Roserade in Platinum - I am aware that the Togekiss was a Garbodor in Diamond/Pearl). Spiritomb was also SUPER tanky while not being terrible at dishing out damage, and she has him, too. The last thing on her team was Gen 3, so I guess it doesn't count (though, to be fair, it was number 3 in the Gen 3 most OP video on its own)... but good lord, her team was brutal.
I literally had these all in my party while playing Diamond. I played that game for over 500 hours so of course I did all that was necessary to get the new evolutions in gen 4

I gotta agree with Infernape. Didn't think I'd like another Fire/Fighting type again after Blaziken. But, Infernape really grew on me. Hasn't let me down yet.
So... Cynthia.

+Nep Nep this video says OVERPOWERED* not necessarily the "best"
oh nice that buzzfeed burn, loved it!
Number 2 is one of my two favourite fire starters. Depending on the move pool, Infernape can laugh off it's weaknesses like it was nothing
Surprised Spiritomb with Wonder Guard didn't make this list
Cuz that's an illegal ability...
why not slaking with hugepower?
What happened to A} You and B} the Egglocke :c
I'm gonna resume (and finish) the Egglocke on Sunday.
***** i was surprised to hear that someone disliked gen 4 its generally called the most difficult gen and a lot of people like it
I accidentally over leveled my infernape so much with close combat
I wished Drapion had an honorable mention. But overall, Great Video and actually used almost all of these pokemon in your list.
Yay my bae was on the list. Infernape! First starter I ever had and god damn I fell in love with it
NUMBER ONE:
Magikarp.
So there was no good water type Pokemon in this generation?
Gyardos was very good. But not a gen 4 Pokemon
+YourNameHere lol
+Zandira 21 PALKIA
The only good Fire type was Infernape well In Diamond and Pearl, it was fixed in Platinum
Floatzel was a good water type. Empoleon is pretty good too. But that's pretty much it.
Staraptor should ve been in dis
+Ace Trainer David
Staraptor is too frail
StrasbergProtégé he know nothing about stats
MY GOD THE STATS ON MAGNEZONE, IM DEFINITELY ADDING MY SHINY MAGNEZONE TO MY TEAM, I WAS SO LUCKY TO FIND IT
my man, mandals. finally someone gives infernape he respect he deverves. Not to mention that in d&p casual game was probably the most valuable pokemon being one of only 2 obtainable fire types
Gen4 is better then these X,Y, Sun,Moon gay gens, nerd!
Sun and moon is gay but x and y is alright
It definitely is but how are people gay by thinking another gen is better than the other?
Kingtony it is... gameplay wise, and pokemon wise. X and Y was way to easy and barely had any new pokemon and sun and moon had a lot of text to go through making the overall experience boring, nothing wrong with the pokemon though I had fun despite that.
THANK YOU
Still prefer Gen 6 over Gen 4 anyday, I can’t go back to slow gameplay all of those games suffer from. Even Pt/HGSS was slow in my eyes.
#TEAMINFERNAPE
Infernape should be number one
But you fight lvl100 vs lvl12 so it doesn't show us its power.
And also good pokemons are the ones that can defeat all gyms+team galactic +#4 and the champion.
Video is good I just think it's irrelevant when u try to prepare good team.
What units that may be good at taking on story content might not be for actual pvp trainer battles. On top of that I've ran games where I only use 3 pokemon for every bit of those fights so its really not difficult.
My friends questioned me when I said i was using mamoswine in my soul silver game. I just said that ice types are fun to use.
I love gen 4. Started at the begging but still love every new game
What about johto it was so boring for me
Hell no, jhoto was awesome. It was basically a better version of kanto that had kanto in it. Silver/gold/crystal are my favorite games in the franchise.
Are you like 5???? holy hell
Johto was super boring and lame to me too, you're not alone man, gen 2 was really bad :/
If you're talking about the Gen 2 games (not the remakes), then yes, they didn't really hold up that well after all these years.
+TempestMauve Im talkin about both, the remakes were better but still lame in my opinion
If you hate unova region pokemon designs give a like

Nice vid Mandals!
I literally had these all in my party while playing Diamond. I played that game for over 500 hours so of course I did all that was necessary to get the new evolutions in gen 4
me to i pass more that u time i play 3 years in diamond and get the most best pok and try to get them whit the most higher stat as possible after 3 years i became unbeatable like blessey she strong as shit damn she have to much hp whit double team water pulse toxic and softboiled and whit around 800-850 hp i win to many game whit her garchomp he just to way op more that 300 phy domage and other stat more that 250 darkrai whit more that 400 speed whit dark void he just to fucking OP whit nightmare get him 2x the fast use dark voice the low nightmare easy to win after 2 turn
I gotta agree with Infernape. Didn't think I'd like another Fire/Fighting type again after Blaziken. But, Infernape really grew on me. Hasn't let me down yet.
When you own a lucario and you think you are invincible to those regional birbs but you remembered that staraptor exist
The fucking picture of Totalbiscuit killed me. I started laughing for no good reason.
You know...they showed your channel on the Drunken Peasants. Cool to know you're a fan of their show. Cheers!
