I somehow overlooked this flick when it was released back in 1998, just saw it in 2021. Really enjoyed it, I think Small Soldiers deserves more credit for its solid script and inspired casting (The Dirty Dozen, Spinal Tap, dam). But I was really blown away by the music which sounds way ahead of its time (this song is a good example). They even snared some Led Zeppelin, and those guys are super-finicky about licensing out their tunes. Small Soldiers, big ups!

Actually the film did fairly decent. While not the biggest hit in the world making 71 million against a 40 million dollars, it got alot of media buzz and it managed to be a decent hit and was at the top of the box office for a little while. It also made a ton on its VHS release.. Also the marketing for this film was insane. You name it, it was made, toys (a friend of mine still has one of the action figures), shirts, video games, board games, a burger king tie in and yes a soundtrack. But I think the reason why the soundtrack did not do as well probably due to the fact that all the tracks you hear in the movie (i.e spice girls Queen Led Zeppelin) were all given modern rap remixes (such as this one) and that turned people off. But I will say this War remix is an exception.
