So the banana fry you had is more akin to a plantain fritter...we just never made that distinction in the Malayalam language so both plantains and bananas are called banana. That said, I've had plantain here in Canada and let me tell you, compared to the kerala plantain, these plantains taste like potatoes. The kerala plantains are so much sweeter. Also, I'm surprised that you've only encountered the "onion doughnut" in Kerala so far because that's actually a very popular snack. While it looks like a doughnut its actually a wada, which is closer to a pakora. Its best eaten fresh when its insides are fluffy and outsides are crispy along with some coconut chutney or sambhar

The pineapple juice in Kerala is too goodI hope you tried..there are also different types of bananas..the tiny yellow ones are the sweetest.. that's a banana fry (pazham pozhi) ...There are lot of beautiful beaches in Kerala like Varkala, Cherai, Kovalam...Did you try the Kochi metro?
A couple of things a Keralite would never do is - drink lime and milk tea together as it upsets your stomach. lemon will cause the milk to split inside your stomach. Second, never drink or eat high sugar drink before drinking tea, as the tea would feel like yuck!!!
The banana fritters that you tried is called pazham pori in Malayalam its hard to pronounce for a non malayali 😅 Do take banana chips for munching while on trip its very famousl in kerala and its really addictive ☺️
4:08 It is called a "lungi"... It is a traditional equivalent of Pajamas in Kerala (and some other parts of India), but is also worn outside by people who engage in physical labor (like farming, construction, gardening etc). The formal version (White/Off-White with a border) of it is called "Mundu" in Kerala, and Dhothi in some other parts
Please do visit the Northern part of india....you can visit any thing in India.... Like Mountains, hot desert, cold desert, island, every thing.....lot's of love from India🇮🇳.... Love to watching your energetic videos...... The dialogue which I love the most is "yeh bahut mahanga hai" 😂😂😂😂
The scarf like dress you saw them wearing is called 'Mundu'. The mundu (Malayalam: muṇṭŭ; pronounced [muɳɖɯ̽]) is a garment worn around the waist in the Indian states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, the Lakshadweep archipelago, and the Indian Ocean island nation of Maldives. It is closely related to sarongs like dhotis and lungis. It is normally woven in cotton and coloured white or cream. The colour is dependent on whether the cotton is bleached or unbleached. A khadaṟ muṇṭŭ is made using handlooms. When unbleached, the mundu is called nēriyatu. In modern times, two types of mundu are prevalent-the single and the double. A single mundu is wrapped only once around the waist, while the double one is folded in half before wearing. A mundu is usually starched before use.
Its my 4th time watching this video and i cannot get over the kulukki sarbath part 15:16 😂 thats freakin awesome when we found a new expression in you Josie and I found Michael also enjoying it.❣️❣️❣️
This undumpory is made with the small kerala yellow bananas and wheat flour sugar and cummin seeds mixed together, adding a pinch of salt and baking sida, then made into balls and fried in oil. This is usually made when the bananas turn over ripe at home. It is also called 'bonda'.
Hey josie...hello there...now that you're in kerala...dnt waste time and run to the mountains....heaven is out there...and the weather ull love too...much love 😊✌️
4:10 That dress is called a lungi(casual version the ones you saw) and mundu/dhothi (is the formal version) Basically they are garments which you tie around your waist and you can even fold and tuck them upwards making you more comfortable when you are in motion

Amazing video!! Try and visit a local resident to see how they cook their fish with coconut. Plus you will find it amazing that each one of them have their own lil pond where they do fish farming. The dress which the men were wearing is called " lungi" it's a traditional Kerala outfit which men wear and the onion thing which you ate is called onion Vada
Many people come to India but dont visit Andaman and Nicobar islands. Why not give it a go. It's the best place to end the India trip. It's beautifull and stunning at the same time. ❤
2 versions of the traditional go to wear- the casual one with lot of prints is called lungi. The white/ cream/ off- white one with strips of gold, ping, green on one side is called Mundu (Dhoti in other parts of Southern India).
Educated people is nothing to be highlighted, and educated people never boast that they are educated. There are better places across the world, which are beautyful than Kerala, and more well behaved and educated, your hospitality is just a basic thing every tourist from abroad expects, there is nothing to boast off if you can read English, if you mean when you say you are educated
To be frank, 'how to behave' is something which is learned when you are very young.. and kerala have done really good in that area for a long time.. thoughts?
The one you ate in the morning is "Pazhampori or Ethakkappam".. Its ripe banana covered in batter and fried in oil.. It's really sweet. The second thing that you ate in the street stall is "Baji", raw banana covered in batter and fried in oil and it's not sweet. There are a lot of varieties available like Mulakubaji (Green Chilli), Muttabaji (Egg), Kayabaji (Raw banana), Urulakkizhangubaji (Potato), Cauliflower baji etc. The dress that men wear is "Mundu" white in color. If it is colorful then it's called "Lungi". The orange colour vegetable is not melon and its "Vellarikka", it's a type of Cucumber in South India. There are lots of "Kulukki Sarbath" available and it's basically lime juice mixed with other flavors and it may be spicy or not. The one you drank is "Boost Kulukki" which consists of sugar syrup, icecream, boost and milk. If you travel in Kerala during the summer season it's really hot... You can visit hill stations during this time. Like Ponmudi, Munnar, Thekkady, Vagamon, Wyanad, Nelliyambathi etc. You can visit black waters in Alappuzha and Kottayam and try the famous "Karimeen Pollichathu" In my personal opinion you can choose some local restaurants and it may be cheaper or you can ask some local people and they will guide you to the place where you can find the best food... With lots of love from Kerala ❤❤❤
Love your video and if you are still in kerala you should definitely try the malabar chicken biriyani from Hotel paragon they have other kerala cusines as well.
4:10 The thing they wearing is called 'kaili' it's other form is ' mundu' both are traditional wears of men in southern India .. 'mundu' is more like a civilized one which they choose to wear in special occasions like marriage, festivals and all ..whereas 'kaili' is like they choose to wear at home as well as in outdoor works like farming ,fishing etc

And that donut type thing (which isn't a donut) u had is made of of black lentil.. and in Kerala they add onion, hilli, jeera, etc to it.. and it goes best with coconut chutney which u didnt try with it.. that donut type thing is called Vada.. and a round dar brown thing (don't know whether u found it there or not) which is crunchy from outside and soft inside and is bit sweet is called bonda. It has some batter inside which even has banana and that sweetness comes from banana.
The scarf-like piece of clothing they were staying wearing is called "Mundu" Which is actually a traditional wear in kerala. There are many variations of it. The one you saw them wearing is actually the casual version of it.
So you asked where you should go next...well most of India is having summer season . Hillstations like Shimla etc have good weather but so much rush and it will also be expensive. I would say go to Arunachal Pradesh. Book a homestay for 15-20 days and roam around in a bike or taxi. You can also go to Meghalaya. Watch Frenchy vlog for Arunachal. Nomadic Indian vlog -watch Meghalaya . Both have shot some amazing scenes. "MOST CRAZY PLACE of MEGHALAYA, Wari Chora |Ep#25" has an unbelivable shot of Meghalaya. After that you can book to Anadman and you can enjoy monsoon by that time.

Josie 1. Dont have lime Juice n any milk drink even if its tea u will end up having a Delhi belly 2 the donut shape it's more like a Vada which u must have had with an idli rice cake Every area makes that medu Vada with different ingredients an it's a savoury
Hahha I didn’t have any problems!! Not a big deal 😂 I think the Kalukki had lime juice and milk too??! 🤔😂 I feel like the vada was not my favourite but nice to try something new!! Thank you for watching ☺️☺️

If that dress at the bottom is colored, its called a lungi / loongi and if it's white, it's a dhoti (all over India). Dhoti is worn by well-to-do guys in Southern India & the lungi by daily wagers. Unlike the pajama, lungi offers breeze to reach the nether regions😊. So when it's real humid, it's often worn at half-masin South India only.😃
They wearing cloths is called LUNGI in tamil language.. which is a long piece of cotton cloth worn as a loincloth, sash, or turban by Indian men or as a skirt.
Hers is another one if you go back to Fort Kochi try this eatry by the side of the BASCILICA it called MARY'S restaurant, and to your question what is that dress like thing, its their local dress code it's called " MUNDU " and as for you question about the fishing nets Iam not 100% sure but Michael did give you the gist of it. Ron
So what those people are wearing is called lungi. It is a piece of handloom cotton which is wrapped around. Traditionally considered as casual wear to be worn in home or while doing regulary messy work. The while, formal one is called mundu, worn mostly during special occasions. Similar outfit, with few differences is worn in other parts of the country, and are called Dhoti

Awesome video! Kerala specialty felt very authentic!
Welcome to INDIA🇮🇳❤
The banana fritters that you tried is called pazham pori in Malayalam its hard to pronounce for a non malayali 😅 Do take banana chips for munching while on trip its very famousl in kerala and its really addictive ☺️
THE STREETS 🤣🤣
EVEN THE POOREST STREET IN CHINA LOOKS BETTER - ms. beast
Pazham pori / ethakkappam 👍
bekachi 😃
You have to explain how to pronounce 'zh' in pazham pori😄 Basically a mix of 'L' and 'R' sounds
Thank you!!! It must be so breezy to wear one - I wish I could 😂😂
@@josieliftsthings lol, it's air conditioning on the go. 😅😂
But north full of uneducated and unhygienic people.

If you're in India, you must visit Ladakh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands
There is SO much to visit in this country - anything we miss this time around we can have a good exucse to come back and see :)
This undumpory is made with the small kerala yellow bananas and wheat flour sugar and cummin seeds mixed together, adding a pinch of salt and baking sida, then made into balls and fried in oil. This is usually made when the bananas turn over ripe at home. It is also called 'bonda'.
Personally I loved the inclusion of the history of the fishing nets. I didn’t know India and China were the first to trade. That’s really interesting!
Never miss munnar, forest and hil stations of kerala.. The best in india❤❤
Hey josie...hello there...now that you're in kerala...dnt waste time and run to the mountains....heaven is out there...and the weather ull love too...much love 😊✌️
You’re going to love Sundays video ☺️
4:10
That dress is called a lungi(casual version the ones you saw) and mundu/dhothi (is the formal version)
Basically they are garments which you tie around your waist and you can even fold and tuck them upwards making you more comfortable when you are in motion
Have seen so many vlogs by so far in India and my homestate Kerala.. But your energy dear, next level... By the way u were right about the Undanpori, its banana battered ball.. Its bit hard to bite but its feels good with a good chai.. Explore more and live ur life happily.. Loads of love ❤️❤️

You guys have to go to ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, j&k , north east .the vibe is totally different ❤️❤️
Next time you have to visit Gavi (Pathanamthitta, Kerala) Pathanamthitta district The Heavenly Beauty of Gavi in Kerala.🤗🩶
Lungi? Did you call a 'mundu' lungi?
Try not to wear black/dark colour clothes in tropical areas like South India. Best is, just wear white/beige/cream colours to avoid feeling hot.
Hi josie I still enjoying your videos in India ❤ love from the Philippines 🇵🇭❤️
Aw thank you so much James for still watching from the philippines!!! That makes me so happy!! Don’t worry.. we will be back 😉 ☺️🙏🏻🇵🇭
Many people come to India but dont visit Andaman and Nicobar islands. Why not give it a go. It's the best place to end the India trip. It's beautifull and stunning at the same time. ❤
Stay in Kochi for a year to really get to feel it's beauty
That banana fry is called 'Parampuri' in Kerala. It tastes best when served hot with a tea 🤩
That's my city .....one thing I miss after I came to UK is the food in kochi....glad that you liked boost kulukki 😅
In north india most of the shop keepers charges way higher price from foreigners..but that’s not the case in kerala..honesty 🎉
I will definitely say we had a LOT less overcharging in the south compared to the north. It was very nice to travel there ☺️☺️
South India is very different from north and no doubt ull love it.
Come visit bangalore,ur doing a great job Loving ur content❤
Keep it coming 😊
every particle of India is different from each other
Going to kerala next month from Brisbane..can’t wait 😊
Expect more litter in every nook and corner.
You definitely need to try kerala porotta and beef fry!
2 versions of the traditional go to wear- the casual one with lot of prints is called lungi. The white/ cream/ off- white one with strips of gold, ping, green on one side is called Mundu (Dhoti in other parts of Southern India).
Banana fritters are the flagship tea time snacks of Kerala.😂 Also banana chips.
Ratheesh
The orange color cucumber is called lemon cucumber I think.. it's used in sambar and few other curries.
We are educated people in kerala.. We love and respect our guests❤
Definitely found that to be true! I loved Kerala!
You can visit black waters in Alappuzha and Kottayam and try the famous "Karimeen Pollichathu"
In my personal opinion you can choose some local restaurants and it may be cheaper or you can ask some local people and they will guide you to the place where you can find the best food...
With lots of love from Kerala ❤❤❤
Love your video and if you are still in kerala you should definitely try the malabar chicken biriyani from Hotel paragon they have other kerala cusines as well.
You should also try porotta and chicken fry but do try it fresh and hot from good hotels, when its cold it not that good.
18:08 That snack is "UNDAMPORI" (sweet wheat bonda)
Kerala is wonderful 👍😊
4:10 The thing they wearing is called 'kaili' it's other form is ' mundu' both are traditional wears of men in southern India .. 'mundu' is more like a civilized one which they choose to wear in special occasions like marriage, festivals and all ..whereas 'kaili' is like they choose to wear at home as well as in outdoor works like farming ,fishing etc
Yes it's very difficult to adjust to hot and humid condition in south India. How you are going about the blog makes interesting to watch.. Food culture of India is so rich and diverse. Every State has it's uniqueness. Yes you rightly said. We have not taken good care of our beaches. Since ancient times. India used sea shores for trading than recreation. We are trying to change it. Will take some time to reach some level. Wish you have a very happy and wonderful stay in India. STAY BLESSED ALWAYS. 🙏💐🇮🇳
Thank you so much for the nice comment!! I’m very happy you took the constructive criticism of the beach so well, thank you! It’s still a beautiful place to travel around. I think it’s hard when I think australia has some of the most amazing beaches haha! Thanks for watching! ☺️☺️😄😄
@@josieliftsthings I appreciate your reply. However, it's open secret Australia is having one of the best beaches in the world. You didn't say anything wrong. Keep doing constructive criticism. It will help us to address the issue and improve. With lots of love to both of you. STAY BLESSED ALWAYS 🙏🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️
17:41 Ulli Vada ( Onion Donut )
She actually drinks more chai than the Indians 😹
the dress the mail people wore is the traditional Kaily (mundu) . You can see the variants of kaily in the south india
Around minute 4:07, it is a hitched up "lungi" (or longyi in East asia). What they are wearing "down there".
"4:11" that dress is called Mundu. Kerala's traditional one
4:20 pazham pori (banana fritters)
The scarf-like piece of clothing they were staying wearing is called "Mundu" Which is actually a traditional wear in kerala. There are many variations of it. The one you saw them wearing is actually the casual version of it.
Hey Josie,
That ‘scarf’ you mentioned is a traditional wear known as ‘mund’ in Kerala and generally called a ‘dhoti/lungi’
OoOoh thank you!!! 🙏🏻☺️
Hi! I love it when you greet everyone with your wonderful voice and word hi! It's so beautiful. God bless you dear😊
4:13 it's called a "Dhothi" or "Mundu"
Thank you!!! ☺️☺️
You should visit lucknow, shimla, kashmir, nainital, chandigarh, Rajasthan
The way u interact with people is awsome
North east and extreme northern states of uttrakhand and himachal. The wettest place in the world is there cherrapunji & mawsynram. Also u must visit the double decker natural bridge & world's biggest floating park.
18:07 UndamPori ( Wheat Bonda / Banana Cake )
Josie 1. Dont have lime Juice n any milk drink even if its tea u will end up having a Delhi belly
2 the donut shape it's more like a Vada which u must have had with an idli rice cake
Every area makes that medu Vada with different ingredients an it's a savoury
Hahha I didn’t have any problems!! Not a big deal 😂 I think the Kalukki had lime juice and milk too??! 🤔😂
I feel like the vada was not my favourite but nice to try something new!! Thank you for watching ☺️☺️
Ur vlogs are very nice and good. Keep doing this.i pray to God that u achieve a great love with your subscriber.stay blessed happy and healthy.❤❤❤
Visit Konkan Region in Western India. Places such as Ratnagiri, Ganpatipule, Sindhudurg, Raigad,... lots of beautiful beaches, forts, temples etc
As a malayalee.
Love from kerala🫵🏻🫶🏻❤️
Kerala is a great place to start for anyone planning to backpack in India.
13:30 it's cucumber >.< it's a different variety that is cooked and put in curries.
For the remaining trip pls try to come to dehradun and mussoorie also known as Queen Of Hills! It's very beautiful and amazing food. 👌
So when it's real humid, it's often worn at half-masin South India only.😃
15:21 Her reaction Holy Moly ❤❤
9:20 its actually 12rs in some shops becuase the price went up recently becuase milk price increased
4:12 it's called Lungi .. mostly in southern part of India Men's wear this
