  • A special weekend was spent honoring Buckeye's own 6 fallen Vietnam soldiers whose names appear on the Vietnam Wall which has been traveling to various communities, but made its way to Buckeye Arizona, on Veteran's Day weekend for four days of tribute, ceremonies and opportunity to see an 80% replica of the Vietnam Wall that is in Washington, D.C. Students and citizens were able to find names, and scratch them onto a piece of paper to keep as a memento. Mayor Jackie Meck was Master of Ceremony, Myra Curtis sang, Paul Gosar, US Congressman spoke, other speakers included Gilbert Contreras, Larry Hall, Bob Costello, Brook Leonard from Luke Air Force Base, Dave Teeple.
Jim Helms sang "American Soldier". The Scottish Military Society
performed the "missing man table" ceremony, very touching.
People in Buckeye were appreciative that the city took it upon themselves to make a special 50th Traveling Wall Weekend on Veteran's Day weekend.
