Great Video! can you please post the parts numbers? thank you I got 2012 Grand Caravan and diagnosed watching your video, a new tipm is about $600 or around$200/260 @ the junkyard, tnx again!
@MyPostville 84-1040 will get you the relay kit at NAPA. 785135 for the fuse tap kit. 784623 for the weatherproof fuse holder. You'll also need some ring terminals, butt splices, heat shrink, and a couple fuses. Part numbers vary a lot, so you're gonna have to find that stuff on your own. Most part stores can cross reference the NAPA numbers if needed.
I finally did the bypass-it works great! I watched your video multiple times, and every time I learned something new. Thank you so much for that! I connected the relay power cable (leg #30) directly to the battery positive terminal, and the ground (85) to the negative. Do you foresee any issues with this ? I didn't use heat shrink tubing. Will the cable corrode?
@edmundwang3065 the cables may corrode being right at the battery. Heat shrink tubing is important both for insulation/isolation and longevity of the installation. Hopefully you installed an in-line fuse on the pin 30 power lead coming from the battery. That's very important to protect the circuit. 25 or 30 amp fuse should suffice.
@@Krankie_V Thanks... The blower motor on my 2013 Dodge caravan does not work. It seems that the compresser won't start when the blower is off. That's why I was asking. I have ordered a relay and fuses. Will give a try.
@@Krankie_V I couldn't tell if the compresser is on, as no cool air is blown out. But I know it was working. By the way, my order finall arrived, but the fuse tap does not come with a fuse. Can I plug out a fuse of a non-existing feature of my car or non used fuse (like M4 Trailer Tow) and use it on the fuse tap instead? Another question: I was wondering where the existing relay of the blower motor is located. In you video, after the bypass, the blower motor is still controled through the control pannel. I guess the relay we are adding is just for the power supply on/off control by the car operation, say, when the car is running, the power to the blower motor is on, but when the engine is off, no power to the blower motor. Am I right? Thanks!
Dude it doesn’t has to be the same year, Matter of fact you can even use one from a vw Routan. And if you are done with the crap just use an older one and rewire it and be done with it.
@fabiancastellanos7196 except I checked multiple sources when looking for a tipm and every single source agreed that it has to be from the same year van when using a used part
This kind a f vehicles has many issues! If we don’t call the factory, they won’t do a recall! Which it lands in your pocket! The 2011 has a recall for the TIPM! But not the 2012 because no one says anything! If you call eventually they can help create a recall and save you from $200-$1000!
@@Krankie_V well they are working on mine! And I also have a 2011 and they just replaced the tipm on that one!! Google it!! Is a recall!! Same issue as the 2011 the 2012 has it! So they are investigating it! But the more people join the stronger the case!! I took mine to the dealer and they told me it was the tipm! So I’m crossing my fingers! If they don’t replace them they will refund me

Very good video thanks for sharing stay connected
you gotta tip the TIPM up so you can work on it lol. Nice job explaining everything. 10/10

@@Krankie_V Yes I put an in-line fuse (rated 30amp) on the power lead. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you again for posting this. I just did the bypass and it works great.
@@jessekershaw76 I'm happy to help!
I think Ford used those in the Tauruses, basically a bunch of relays in a sealed box that costs 4x what individual relays would've cost. Good fix!
@@SuperKONR yep they called it the Generic Electronic Module
Can you directly bipass by just using another switched power source?
@@davidheady9741 sure if you want to burn up the wiring in the van or constantly blow fuses
Great video...well explained. Is the blower motor interlocked with the HVAC system? With the bypass, is there any issues with HAVC? Thank you!
@edmundwang3065 nah, it is pretty much separate from the hvac controls. It works the same as it did before the failure occurred.

@edmundwang3065 that sounds like a different problem from this. The compressor would still come on in my van, only the fan was not working
@@Krankie_V I may be wrong. Will check again. Thank you!

Does your rear seat swivel?
They do not swivel but they fold into the floor for a nice flat cargo area.
