That was a usefully clear, step-by-step introduction to a useful bit of joinery, leading to an essential basic bit of bush craft fireplace equipment. Thanks for the instruction!
Thank you for watching, Im glad you found it informative :) Don't often do tutorials
Nice expanding joint and many uses I would imagine and easy to dismantle...nice one!
Brilliantly simple.
Great information on making a pot hanger. 2 thumbs up
Many thanks, and congratulations on reaching 4K subs.
Thank you :) subs seem to be climbing pretty fast now
Hi Andy, that is the dogs mate. Thanks for sharing. Atb. Steve
Thanks very much :)
I really like that design. I guess if you want it adjustable you need to use a tripod or as you said... several of the same! Will have to make for the spring thaw! Nice little project! :)
Hey mate, I did mean to make an adjustable hanger to go on it too but didn't have the time.. another day. fun to make though :) Thanks
something to work on next camping trip!
Its definitely a fun build :) and doesn't take too long. Thanks for watching buddy
Hmm nice, it reminds me of Japanese wood joinery.
Thanks :) can't claim to be the 'inventor' but its an enjoyable thing to make

Kent Survival jammy bugger Andy 😉 lol. Take care bud Liam
Great video mate and we'll explained will be good to have more videos like this 😁👍
Thanks Carl, Ill have to think of some more.. I don't always feel the most qualified to do a tutorial on something when there are more experienced out there haha
Kent Survival that is true there are people out there that are more qualified than you. But me personally as a subscriber I would like to see your take on something. You might even do it in a slightly different way and people might prefer to do it your way. And your videos are that good that a lot of people will probably prefer to see you do it anyway😁👍
😎 👍That Bahco, sure did a good job on the Push and Pull cutting...nicely done.
4:09 & 8:33 I wish you wore some gloves, while working with the saw....a few years back,
I was cutting saplings in a similiar way , and the "cheap folding saw blade"
jumped out of the cut ,I was making and bit me...had to get some stitches.
I like this demo on making a pot stand...well done. sir. cheers 😎 👍
Hey, yeah, you're not wrong.. forgot to take any as I took my day bag. The Bahco is really impressing me so far.. hell of a lot cheaper than a silky haha (though I still want one ;)
Beautifully done!
Good video
Thank you
Really nicely done Andy.
Thanks mate :) Its been a requested video for a while now
Let’s go camping!!
Im out this weekend :D and it will be filmed! ha ha
Great video, I'm gonna try that! Subscribed ;)
Thanks and good luck :)
Great video pal and like the pot hanger clever idea
Cheers mate, was a bit worried doing it on camera when its only my second one haha
Kent Survival well you did a top job very well presented and explained
Great little video bud. Loving your work. Getting excited to start my channel. i have 3 subs and i have not put a video up yet.. So much to show but first to master filming and editing.. I think that will be where my wife comes in.. Looking forward to the next one . Cheers.
Hi, Thanks for watching. Let me know when you have a vid up! Good luck buddy
I put an introduction for what I plan for my channel yesterday
Scary stuff
Looking forward to this year.
Checked out and Subbed yah Channel , Bud...
Looks like a Good journey for yah. Cheers
(Suggestion : if yah want newer subs, quickly...hook up with other RUclipsrs with high numbers of subs..and make videos with them...)
Hey, welcome aboard :) I've done a couple of meet ups (actually my next video is one coincidentally) sure there'll be a few more along the way :)
To preserve your folding saw consider a bow saw. I got one about a foot long also accepts a hacksaw blade. Handy kit $10 or about £5. Fits in my pack light as. It'd be really useful with y our wood walls and cutting firewood.
But very nice put hanger. Cluey stuff keep it up!
i think a bow saw would be to big for that kinda small fiddely work.
always handy to have both saws with you if possible though.
Gary Herts wildcamper yep it is. But to do half your tasks at under 1 kg you preserve your folding saw. It also cuts on the push and pull unlike many folding saws...forgetting that bit is what causes most breakages
you may well be right, ive got a few bow saws, various sizes. i'll take the smaller of the bunch instead of a folding saw next time, n see how i get on.
where do you stand on the silky saws? and folding bow saws? right now i'm a bit put off by price on both.
and i already own perfectly good saws with years left in em.
Hey guys, I'm just starting to use the laplander and I really like the dual purpose blade, I usually use my Bow Saw for firewood / camp building (bigger jobs) but I only have a green wood, pruning blade at the mo. But yes.. taking both along is what I do for a camp. Thanks all for watching.
Gary Herts wildcamper Ive never seen a silky saw in person so jard to say ie it is sturdy sharp etc. It seems an inordanantly expensive bit of kit to me that I can solve for 10 dollars.
Folding bow saws. Look nice but pricey. If you look at a Ray Mears one its all wood folder...weighty. Looking at alloy models pricey.
Both are bang there it is pulls out of pack easy assembly a minute or two. For a hundred dollars.
1 foot bush saw. I gotta move stuff to get it out. But I'm saw in my hand same time no assembly no dropping looking for a bolt etc for $10. If you were bothered by having to move stuff to get it out strap it to your pack.
IfI wanted a folding bush saw Im sure its not too hard to make one as in a wooden one.
BTW check out Corporals corner. Best vid ive seen by far on how to make a bush saw. Frankly I just couldnt be bothered to save like less than a kilo weight. I think my 1 foot bushsaw is a good fit for me. Lightweight and bonus fits a hacksaw blade. In my bids and bods kit spare blade added 2 bolts 2 wing nuts to. Light cheap can cut wood or metal. Im 47 sawing our firewood as a kid was my chores from about 10. Ive worn blades out. Worn a few saws out too. But its never boom sirprise. You can see wear and tear and you know. Worst case scenario it breaks while in the field....you still got the blade...just make a frame from branches. Its a tool for sawing wood. The cost of a silky...itd want to be a tool to save me hundres in engine repairs
Me gustó... muy bueno!
Thank you very much :)
Just subscribed 👍
welcome to the channel Stuart :)
Kent Survival.. Thanks bud.. Keep em coming👍
Very Nice!
Thank you :)
Hello mate, just come across your channel the other day, great videos :) im sure ive met you at the wilderness gathering, mayday meet or bushcraft show or somewhere along the line lol, ive made those before, i was shown by an old survival instructor in Sweden many moons ago, anyway keep up the good work and all the best JP ;)
High JP, thanks very much for watching.. I haven't been to any of the gatherings before (which I hope to change this year) - I must have one of those faces... unlucky for me haha.
Haha :D well we will have to catch up some time bud i'm only across the Dartford crossing in Orsett :)
Good Demo Mate.
iv'e seen it done before on youtube, but i thought i'd give yours a watch anyway.
i was of course working on the assumption you would cook something afterwards. (you know me and food)
Now iv'e got to ask, do you plan on staying in your shelter anytime soon? i'm just wondering what your general opinion is on winter camping really? i'm attempting to do more winter camping this year. up to now iv'e been a mostly 3 season camper.
Good Film Good Job.
Gary
haha, no cooking that day unfortunately :( I stayed up there just before xmas with a friend but didn't film it, I haven't done one since due to the rain and how dark it gets early.. it really limits what I can do and film and alone can just get a bit boring. I did a camp the other day with Tom Outdoors which he and Albion camping filmed but I just wanted to chill. Short answer.. I don't mind winter camping but with bad weather alone can be boring and hard to film. I was hoping for some snow to make it interesting.
Doing a camp thats a bit different in a few days though so watch out for that vid. Thanks mate
This is one of the things i'm wondering about the whole filming thing. how much time and effort do you have to put in? especially on a day you really just wanna camp. i'm deff gonna try it.
i'm confident you will watch at least one of my films, just to see what i cook?
just not sure if anyone else will.
Kent Survival Well, Mr Andy...who knew you could work wood so fast. Beware you don't start unanticipated fires...(you may not even need to rub two boy sprouts together)...
...In regards to you, Mr Gary, winter camping is more fun than at any other time of year, although as our host suggests, it is a more enjoyable experience with a fiend (well, that's what I call 'em...and possibly one or two other words but I digress) or two. Better to take extra clothing in case you manage to get wet - better cold and dry than cold and wet (and wear layers). Remember that changing into cold clothing can be a shock to the system but passes relatively quickly.
Fire is essential, and depending on vegetation type, if you are stealth camping, it really tests your ability to 'hide'.
As to food, well hey, stew is the order of the day (and bloody luverly, too). As is rum coffee (good in any season).
I don't film anything (not my bag) but I imagine that with cold hands and fingers it will be trickier. And with daylight at a premium you'd have to plan more so than normal and work fast (Mr A would be able to say more, as would any other 'professional' you-tuber'. Guess you'll learn as you go. I'll try to pop by and watch your efforts sometime).
Hey, Mr A, as you're apparently so close to the sea I guess it gets even colder than you allude to. Stay warm and enjoy chillin' cos that is what it's really about.
Luck to you both ;)
Anyone know of any good free places to camp in Somerset?
🇹🇭🇹🇭good🎪🎪🍳🍳
Thanks buddy :)
Didn’t quite get it! Sorry.
