  • Hello! Welcome to Joline Knits A Lot! I was really excited to get a new book about sock knitting earlier this month. I have been looking forward to the release of The Sock Project by Summer Lee since I heard about it last year. In this episode, I go through the book and share some of the patterns I’m most looking forward to casting on. I have some basic socks on the needles and a new cardigan that has been a surprisingly interesting knit. Grab a cup of something comforting and join me!

    I also have this book and I am loving making all the socks. I've got 4 WIPS going at once and they're all the socks.

    I have Summer Lee’s book and agree with everything you pointed out. It is a great resource to have in a knitters library. Looking forward to working several pairs of socks from her patterns. ❤

    I'm waiting for Summer's book to be available in Australia but I have it on order.🎉. Just a little tip I've found to stop socks wearing through on the ball of the foot is to do a few inches of slip stitch on the underside of the socks. Same as for a slip stitch heel.

      Thank you for this tip! I’m sure I heard it somewhere and promptly forgot it. Have you tried it? Does it make the ball of the foot less stretchy? Thanks for checking out my channel and I hope your book arrives soon.

      @@jolineknitsalot I use this on mostly men's socks and it does reduce the stretch a little but mostly heel to toe not so much width.

    This week I decided to put all my clean socks away in a separate container…and I’ll keep doing that in an effort to wear the socks that are at the bottom of the drawer:) I’m so glad you discussed the Eva cardigan as it is a pattern I’ve been contemplating knitting. It sounds like a lot of fun to make- and I have the yarn on hand too. Really enjoy your podcast, and looking forward to seeing all the socks!

      That’s a great idea for rotating your socks! I always wear the ones on top because those are the ones I see first. Thanks for checking out my channel!

    What a wonderful podcast. I’m a relatively new listener but have thoroughly enjoyed everything I’ve watched! Thank you for your very informative descriptions… particularly the cardigan as you often can’t tell what you’re getting when you read the blurbs. And the book review was fantastic! Thank you ❤

    I just found your podcast and I enjoyed it! I also have that book and want to start making some of her socks! You should watch Amy from Noble Character Crafts podcast - she also wears her socks out on the bottom of the foot, so she knits Heel stitches to reinforce the bottom of the sock so the do not wear out. Check out her podcast! I thought it was a great idea.

    I have never knit socks before, only been knitting about a year. Do you think this is a good starter book?

    • @jolineknitsalot
      @jolineknitsalot  3 месяца назад

      I do. Summer offers the basics in the first chapter that will set you up for sock knitting success. She also offers a few basic sock patterns to try to see which ones you like knitting and which ones fit you the best.

    Oooo, nice podcast, nice knitting!
    BTW, what does Vretenar mean? Is it a Slavic Family name, do you know its origin?
