Ultraman is a follow-up to the television series Ultra Q, though not technically a sequel or spin-off. The show was produced by Tsuburaya Productions, and was broadcast on Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) from July 17, 1966 to April 9, 1967, with a total of 39 episodes (40, counting the pre-premiere special that aired on July 10, 1966).
Although Ultraman is the first series to feature an Ultra-Crusader, it is actually the secondshow in the Ultra Series. Ultra Q was the first. In fact, Ultraman opens with the Ultra Q logo exploding into the Ultraman logo. As a kid watching this back in the early 70's it was actually incredibly upsetting to watch Ultraman die. So when he was rescued and we learn Ultraman is part of a bigger family of Galactic heroes it was uplifting. Therefore I've always had a special reverence for Zoffy.

AUDY1996 I would rather see a series with using the old format style of 40-50 episodes with defence squads and a natural transformation item...than the new Ultraman series Blu and Rosso.
Saving the best for later would be an awesome decision. I hope they do a CG x Suit hybrid someday soon. We are in the perfect era for all that.
Andro melos is like a zoffy series
Great video, it's so cool to see someone trying to explain the Ultra universe. It's really darn hard to make people get interested into the series, the majority tend to watch Kamen Rider or Super Sentai instead.
My only nitpick: People doesn't use "Ultraman"' to reference him , there is no "Ultraman Zoffy", he is just Zoffy. Like Astra, Yullian or Ultraseven, he's one of the few Ultra Heroes who doesn't carry the "Ultraman" title/name.
Thank you! Yeah, I know. Sometimes here on the channel I sacrifice 100% detail-faithfulness to make it more easily understandable to both ultra-lamens and the Ultra-experienced. That way those who know nothing of the Ultraman and women will know he is still an ultra and not just a similar looking, closely related character.
It's made me receive quite a bit of flack in the past, but, being I'm trying to pitch this channel to new, English speaking fans, as well, as long time fans, and (hopefully) people who never seen Ultraman. I hope you still enjoy the content even with some small semantic mistakes.
Oh I see. Yeah, you're right, sometimes a less technical and more straightforward approach is the best to make the whole subject easier to digest.

Hi, a fellow Ultraman Fan here. Although Zoffy is seem in most tv series as either at the sidelines or getting his ass kicked but in reality, Zoffy is one of the most experienced fighters among the original 6 brothers. Reason why he is not strong as it should? If he truly is strong, he will overshadow the other brothers in their own series. There were several manga that show Zoffy as a competant fighter like Ultra Brothers the manga and Ultraman Story Zero. One canon suggest that Zoffy was a war orphan who was raised by an older Ultra fighter who taught him the M87 Beam. Ultraman Story Zero show Zoffy learning M87 Beam after being overpowered by a wild Z-Ton and the natives cheered him in order to regin his strength and learning M87 Beam. The word "M" in M87 beam stand for Miracle as Zoffy describe the natives's cheers as a miracle to regain his strength. Furthermore in the final chapters of Ultraman Story Zero, Zoffy was the last Ultraman standing against the final alien boss (I forgot who it was) and he won and saved everyone. But why he is so weak like during Belial attack on M78? I guess that since Zoffy spend most of his time deploying the Ultra heroes to different parts of the galaxy, he spent less time training. After all, Zoffy is the Deputy Leader of the Space Garrison with Father of Ultra as the Head of Space Garrison. Fun fact: Another canon suggest that Zoffy and Ultraman Ace are adopted by Father of Ultra which probably why Zoffy came to save Ace so many times in his series.
Kragito Weibs They dont call him commander for nothing.....like only Powerful Ultras can be officer rank and commander rank and theres only 1 commander which is Zoffy and 1 officer which is Taro. Taro vs Zoffy, Zoffy will win interms of exp and technique as Taro's techqniues were learned from the prev Ultraman and also personal teaching and training from Ultraman Father. Zoffy's M87 beam is recorded as the hottest and strongest attack used by an Ultra Warrior.

Nah interms of skill Zoffy has it down.....but its always he gets matched up against enemies powerful enough to kill Ultra's that we dont rlly get to see him shine.....like Belial for e.g. he took down the whole Ultra Crusaders singlehandedly as well as his weapon being powerful enough to reflect the combo beam,but Zoffy did well on his own in his 1v1 against Belial it was because of the building that they were fighting on that gave Belial the advantage. The dmg Zoffy took from the fall caused his color timer to actually blink compared to all the other Ultras who faced Belial. Even Original and Seven started to blink after that fall.

This is referencing him as the leader as well as the most powerful member of the Ultra Brothers. You're wrong to say that the seven are the strongest. you should read articles about zoffy and other ultra brothers so you better understand.
tendo yuu Reason why ppl say Zoffy is weak is because Tsuburaya did a bad job of showcasing his skills. He always gets matched up against enemies either more powerful than he is(Tyrant and Belial) or gets used for plot to make monsters look so damn powerful(Birdon) true he is the commander of the Ultra Crusaders and the leader of the Ultra Brothers but there r some Ultras with more potential then him(Seven) but lacks as much experience as he does(which is why he is the commander)
I would love to see a Zoffy origin series. His medals alone would make a great heroes journey type story. Also if they have to see toys he could get a form everytime he earns a medal, with the final battle having him turn into his iconic look and him learning to control the m88 beam for his final climatic attack.
Great video as always, thanks for the overview, wish you mentioned more main appearances instead of clarifying why you didn't went over the 13th voice actors. Also if its possible, could you make a personal list? like a top 10 or something of the sort. maybe a top 10 best ultraman series to start with for beginners of the franchise
It's kinda strange how similar Zoffy, Ultraman and Jack are and neither of them have blood ties.

I'm still blown away by Ultraseven's appearance in Ultraman Leo episode 1. That was gut wrenching watching that fight! It's such a good episode!

When Zoffy first appeared, his his head part was black.
I think Zoffy is an ultra that gets shoved aside the most. He never really lives up to his high-rank as he barely has any unique contributions to battles (except reviving Ultraman) with his only standalone battle being against Birdon, which he got rekt.

I think Zoffy's a fan favorite.
Liquid Pestar Zoffy has earned multiple star medals and earning one is not easy. He earned all his medals during the Ultra War for M78 against Belial. He's mainly a side Ultra for backing up other Ultraman as he is the commander of the Ultra Crusaders. He saved Ace from death and used his bracelet to give Ace a temporary energy source to fight with. Sent Taro back to M78 and fought Birdon and had the upper hand during the fight. Appeared multiple times in Taro's series fighting monsters like Grand King,Tyrant and Alien Temperor. Fought Alien Babalou to retrieve the Ultra Key nearly killing Leo in the process. But thats all he's mainly used for.....Originally he was suppose to appear and fight Zetton in the final episode of the Original Ultraman series but was scrapped because they wanted ppl to see that Humans can defend themselves even without Ultraman.

When he said the the studs on his patterns are medals or something like that, it kinda made sense why in shin ultraman Zoffy didn’t have them, also does this mean tiga is older than zoffy, cuz he said zoffy is roughly about 25,000 years old and tiga is 30,000-40,000 years old

+dhathor Because, when he debuted, it was under the name of just "Zoffy". During the first series of Ultraman, they were unsure yet whether all of the Ultras would would carry "Ultraman" as part of their name before their given name. Since then, the "ultraman" title has become something of a family name to come before the birth-name. Much the way Japanese names are spoken or put together.

I just used the "Ultraman" bit to help make things be a bit more understandable for the lamen fans as well as experienced fans as there is no logical reason some of the ultraman don't posses the "ultraman" moniker in front of their name other than the fact, it's assumed that you already know he is an ultra, so they use the actual name instead, more personally. And, actually, according to most cannon sources I found it IS "Ultraman Zoffy" but, it's more commonly said as Zoffy, with the "ultraman" being implied.
The "Ultraman" bit wasnt said in his firat airing as they were airing him in a show called "Ultraman" and Tsuburaya was unsure whether or not the Ultras from there would just be called by their name or "ultraman - NAME", (WHICH, later became the case) so they just said his name and this stuck.

Isn't Ultra Father and Ultra Mother his parents? Or are they his 'adopted' parents, since you said both his mother and father died?
+UltraMac Films Despite what may seem logical, and despite their names, Ultra Father and Mother are not the parents of every Ultra. There are no familial ties to Ultra mother and father and Zoffy
The only children I know of Father and Mother is for sure Taro, Ace (adopted), and I believe Mebius (can't be sure on that one, I could be wrong). Zoffy only has brothers of arms.

You do know he had a tv show in 1968 to 1969 and he did has some return monsters in ultraman jack episode's as well 5 monster's the I have research and calculated and the book of ultraman showa has all of the missing monsters and series of ultraman zoffy to but I found it and it got lost as will so I'll be a nice friend and find later on soon ok man 😎👍

You repeated the fact about Zoffy's first appearance, and how he is allegedly King's grandson, once each. Other than that I really enjoyed this video, I also have a suggestion, for you future videos how about you mention some of the Ultra Crusaders signature attacks, like for Zoffy his main attack is the M87 Ray (note: not M78, it's M87) it's supposed to be his equivalent to Ultraman's Specium Ray.
+1001johny Haha, yes, I know. It was done intentionally. Both as a a remnant of the origional recording I did (I re-recorded this like eight times until i didnt sound sick anymore) as well, as mentioned to restate context and work as segways, but yeah, i was a little worried leaving them in. Lol.

Zoffy is actually evil,not many know this but he is “dead” well sometimes but rumors that the strongest darkness warrior has control over him and sometimes he is fake like in ultraman’s last episode but zoffy was real when belial came to the land of light.

so there are three ultras went to earth in the original ultraman series 1.hayata 2.zoffy 3.noa cause one episode of ultraman the people of a acient city and to note this is the same episode where antlar appeared ok where was i? oh yes the acient city, so they said they were protected by a giant named ultraman noa and he is the same noa in the nexus series the people of the acient city worshipped noa and they showed the sience patrol the statue of noa he looked like ultraman with no design and no color timer

For as long as I can remember, every appearance of Zoffy has been a disappointment. I was hyped when he showed up, since he's a decorated soldier and superior officer and all that, and he never do anything remarkable. Guess I expected too much that the real thing couldn't live up to it.
